Capturing Garnet - Part 4

An hour later, we have arrived at the house Fiona told us to go, and hide until everything will be chill again. We will live there for I hope only a few days, and not months, or worse years. I have a childhood, even though it was my decision to become a squire who would die at any time.

The only people who would live in that house should be I, Garnet (the hostage girl even though she ain't acting like one from the novel I have read so far), Taka and Ulfred. I am probably in safe hands thanks to Taka and Ulfred, but I still don't know many things about them even though I am in that guild for a few days. This might be a chance to start knowing them better. But we will probably be focused on keeping our eyes on garnet because she might be doing something sneaky later.

We have entered Bran Village, and now here comes the task which will took us hours, finding the house we will live in secret. And this will be a tough task since it is night, and at this time not many people are on the streets of this village, which can be considered a bad and a good thing in my opinion. Like a sword with a double edge I once saw in an armory shop on the Capital City.

Taka is stopping Ulfred from carrying the cart by saying a "Stop!" with such a way, it will even make a few knights twitch, but not Fiona.

"I have to multiply. This scheme might allow us to cover a big area and search for the house." says Taka who is already doing three clones of herself, and I could see because earlier she asked me If I can do a light spell, and I did to help them see the area (kind of risky move in a mission where we are trying to not be discovered by enemy forces).

"If you are sure about this. Then do it." says Ulfred looking at the clones of Taka already multiplying so much, they are now twelve Taka's bodies.

Those twelve Taka's are leaving the cart, and they proceed to run around the city, without attracting much attention I suppose. I don't know what a peasant will think by seeing a girl running around in the city, at this late hour, and it will put them in a very confused state. Anyway, I turned out my spell, since we have lamps all around the street on this village, and Ulfred continues to carry us on the streets of Bran village.

While Ulfred was carrying the carriage where it is me and Garnet, we are looking around the houses we are passing by. We have seen a lot of these houses, some were having red roofs, yellow roofs, and one was having black roof. I have read from a novel that people from Bran village are painting their roofs to show their ranks, but I don't really remember all the ranks of these houses, only that the green represents "Newcomers", and Red represents "Peasants". So black could either mean "Nobles" or something else like "Knights" or "Leader".

"Have you ever come into this village?" asks Garnet as soon as Ulfred take a second street turn.

"No. It is my first time here." I reply to Garnet.

"I see... I was here once... It is small, but friendly villagers."

"Really?"

"Yes. The people here might seem cruel and brutal in fights, but they are the nicest people from these lands... My father told me that people from this village are helping anyone, but with a cost. A big cost."

"Which is?"

"Gold coins, of course. Sometimes they even trade in silver coins or Brit King Islands currency, bronze coins."

Ulfred wasn't hearing me when I did respond to Garnet question. It is probably because he is concentrating on the task he has to do, or maybe he heard it and wanted to shut up and listen to the hostage speaking.

"Hey. Why are you not afraid of us?"

"Why would I be?" asks Garnet in a dense reaction. "Aren't you going to save me from my noble family?"

"Save from them?" I ask this little girl, feeling extremely confused, and then I thought to myself: "Are we going to save her or kidnap her?"

"Yes. You didn't know my family it has some cannibal routes and I used to have sixty-six brothers and sister, but they were all eaten alive in the name of Cannibals Gods."

Ulfred stops the carriage, he turns to us, and he is looking shocked at Garnet.

"Cannibals?"

"Yes. My family it is having roots with a cannibal tribe far from this Kingdom... you didn't know that?" she says in such a nonchalant way, but this made all of us feeling extremely concerned and disturbed by this secret who was revealed at such unexpected time.

"Ulfred?" I ask him, while I can see him sweating, but not because of carrying us. "Are you feeling alright?"

"Garnet... Tell me all of this is true." he said to Garnet after he jumped on the carriage, and he grabbed her like you would grab a picture in a medium size.

"It is true. You are not here to rescue me?"

"No! Our mission from the Guild was to kidnap you." says Ulfred feeling nervous. "I cannot believe this... I cannot man!"

"Slow down, Ulfred." I say to him. "Remember that anyone can hear us?"

"Judah. Do you know what does this mean?" he asks me.

"That we are fighting against a cannibal tribe?"

"Much worse."

"Worse than this? What is it?"

"Cannibals tribes are always untied in a fight. And when it comes to a noble family, this means certainly death to our kingdom. We have to tell our King Julius about this!" says Ulfred to me, but then Taka appears, and she looked at the kid concerned.

"... We will keep her." says Taka to Ulfred.

"Are you sure?"

"Yes. We have to follow orders. We will message the King somehow, but right now. We have to go. I think I do have found our house."

Ulfred is carrying the carriage with us again, while Taka is leading him to the house where we are all going to live for a while. On all of this road, Ulfred always took a short peak at Garnet, and I am preparing my staff for any dangerous thing that might happen. I still don't know if this girl can be trusted, even though she told us her real reason why she is not scared and all.

I hope Fiona it is alright on her own there.
