"So what Middle School were you from? With these scores, I know that you are not a product of a local high school" the interviewer who introduced herself as Madame Lily asked Light who was uninterested with the interview.
"I don't remember anything about my past endeavors" Light replied as he looked down at his arms because they had been aching for the past hours.
"Oh, you must have had a terrible life in Middle School- but don't you think that you can really forget such a thing?" She asked him as if she was entertained.
"The school will be giving you all our papers. Why do you have to ask me?" he sulked but the interviewer looked more entertained.
"You may be right about that" Madame Lily said and browsed the exam sheet of Light that was placed on the table "but I wanted to be sure and I wanted to know more about your personality. However, I must ask you one thing and it will be the last question for this interview. You should take note that you are expected to answer truthfully."
"Just... Let's finish this." Light said and looked at her for the first time. Madame Lily looked young but her neck seemed to indicate that she was already in her 40's.
"This is the most important question of all. Answer truthfully."
"How many times do you have to actually repeat that?" Light asked.
"Fine.... I have to know this because I won't be able sleep if I don't. What...." Madame Lily started but she stopped the moment she saw the pair of golden eyes that were focused on her and that sight made her gulp.
"What..."
"Just ask it." Light said and looked at her more thoroughly.
"What.... What... sh... Sh.... Shade is your hair?! I've been captivated by it and I want to dye my hair with the same color as you! So please! Tell me! It's my first time seeing that silver shade!" Madame Lily enthusiastically screamed and she came closer to him with a pen and notebook at hand, as if hungry for information.
"My hair isn't dyed. You haven't met a person with a purple-colored hair? From where I came from, people have different colors of hair. Some even have different colors in one head. I know that my hair is actually nice to look at but blue hair is the best." Light answered truthfully." Are there any other questions?"
Madame Lily seemed frozen and not breathing. Light did not notice that easily because he was always spacing out but the eerie silence of Madame Lily made him focus on her again.
" Are you okay?" Light asked her as he waved his hand on her face." Don't tell me-"
He looked at his necklace but Madame Lily wasn't their mission. However, a cold breeze surrounded them that even the ever-cold Light felt shivers on his spine. He knew, t that moment that Madame Lily wasn't herself anymore.
"It's been a long time, Head Chosen." Light said and relaxed at his seat. Madame Lily's body has been infiltrated by the Head Chosen, the one who's responsible in managing chosen duties and responsibilities. The head chosen straightened his posture and looked at him.
" I see that both of your necklaces aren't looking good." He said and looked at Light's shirt where he gif the necklace. "You know that it doesn't matter how much you hide it because its aura is hideous when it's dark."
"Why are you here? I'm doing well. I've been sending my reports every week." Light asked.
"Oh, I just came by because the mission of Sunny just ended. Do you remember her? She's been assigned on the next state- the country Delta. The other chosen, Benedict, have a scary necklace- I mean everything looks the same to me but black necklaces are too scary that just thinking about it makes me crumble in fear" the head guardian told Light. "You remember everything right? You remember how this mission must end."
"Of course I know that more than anyone" Light replied and he bit his lip because just remembering what would happen to him after the mission was frightening.
"Oh, I need to go because I still have to counsel Sunny. You know--because she made a terrible mistake of falling in love with the other chosen" the head guardian added. Light flinched. "Ah, when I arrived at the site and saw how it all happened, it really broke my heart."
"We are only living for the happiness of other people and our own being is really neglected just to save them. I don't know why but I think that even the people who saves also need more saving. Staying here on Earth is very different than staying in the heavens where everything was happy, so peaceful - but on earth, it's chaotic and painful. Since I began saving people, Me and Hope were like sponges, absorbing other people's suffering-"
"I sure hope that you did not fall in love with that human because you know that the ending of this mission will never change. She will forget everything about you--well, the other chosen named Yvan is, of course a different case--but he will never see Twinquel again even if he tried" Head Guardian said and looked at Light. "I have to go now. Bye."
Madame Lily seemed to wake up from a nice slumber but Light did not look at her. Yvan apologized to him the day he went back because Stellar was not Twinquel and the man she had been remembering was the man who came by at the hospital which turned out to be her ex boyfriend. Yvan was so broken then.
"No matter how much we hate it, someone will have to suffer in the end to give way for other people's happiness." Light muttered to himself and left the room.
"O-oh! Thank you for the time. Please call the next one in" Madame Lily announced at Light and Joy came next. Nathan, Mari, Nick and Fallon noticed the gloomy expression of Light.
"You seem pissed" Nick said and patted his shoulder.
He can't be blamed--it was truly frightening just by knowing that he will be forgotten by everyone who knew him, including the friends he cherished the most.
