"Hey Bright. You didn't tell me that we would acquire their cuts as well after we save them!" Brenna yelled as the both of them looked at the person they just saved. They were standing at the top of the building many many kilometers away from their school and they skipped class because the clocks on their necklaces were too urgent and the person they saved was already standing and knocking on the door of death. Bright looked at him with apology on his eyes but he was still smiling.
"Congratulations on your first mission. We are successful." he said and punched his shoulders lightly. He was about to leave but Brennan did not move an inch as he looked at the unconscious body before him.
"Say Bright" he said and Bright looked back at him but he only saw his back. "Were there people- i mean chosens before us?"
"Why do you ask?" Bright answered with a question and that irritated Brennan too much because he had been studying human deception. "That's go nothing to do with our mission."
"So that's affirmative. Wonder what happened to them." Brennan said. Bright was clenching his teeth and his fists. Just remembering what had happened to the two chosens before him scares him to a great extent and it makes him hate his work.
"Maybe yes, maybe no." he tried to smile and walk away but Brennan chuckled.
"So you pushed me to go with you for this mission and I am sacrifing my life without any knowledge about the history of this mission." Brennan said and Bright was getting angry as his smile was gradually fading away. However, he knew that he should tell him all the facts but he was afraid of everything. "The books I dropped the first time we met, they were all about darj psychology and humn deception so don't assume that I can't read what your body speaks."
Bright chuckled and gave up - he faced him. "The last chosen's name was Light. His other chosen's name was Hope Joy and they saved many people. However, chosens were brought on this world so they can save people and their companions- such as Hope and you are the people who suffers the most in this world- that was weighed by the high council."
Brennan went silent as Bright's smile was completely gone.
"Light and Joy... They fell in love with each other- so as the chosens before them- Twinquel and Yvan- but you saw how the mission went by- in talking about my first mission. The people they save completely forgets them." he explained.
"So Yvan and Hope Joy are alive, without any memory of the people who saved them." Brennan said.
"Yes. That is so. It's sad because after the mission, I never saw Light and Twinquel anymore. Those two are my best buds. We were like siblings and we were inseparable but then when they were sent to this world, they experienced sorts of things and they disappeared, so as other chosens."
" So you are a sacrificial lamb as well." Brennan said and started walking away. Bright's smile came back.
"If you say i am, then I am."
"By the way. What's up with all your names? Light? Bright? Twinquel?" Brennan asked with an amused tone in his voice as they were walking down the stairs of the building.
"There was someone who was named Sparkle and Lightning. Oh, there is also someone who was called Glisten and Shine." Bright laughed as well as he remembered Light- who gave him his precious name. "Hey, Brennan. Care to go and look for Hope Joy?"
"No. Don't even bother looking for her." Brennan said coldly and went head.
"You are so cold!" Bright said and followed him as they went down the building. "I guess you are right. I don't need to even search for her because I know we'll meet her. I'll just have to wait until the time is right because all the chosen- I mean the chosen of the chosen ends up needing salvation from the new chosen after forgetting everything. How pitiful."
"Who are you?!" a shout from Brennan suddenly woke Bright up from his reveries. He was alerted that he quickly dashed from the stairs to the ground floor where they were supposed ro exit from. No one could possibly see them in their form- they had activated the effect of their necklace and it made them invisible in the eyes of normal human beings- unless.
"Hi." the strager said the moment he saw Bright. The man looked so formal because of his corporate attire but he was holding his black coat. His hair had silver highlights and his eyes were emerald green that even his glasses did not manage to hide them. "I am Yvan."
Bright wasn't shocked. He was relieved, in fact- because he looked so healthy and well. He knows everything that happened between Twinquel and him and he felt connected to Yvan because he was sure he remembers her as well. "Well hello, Yvan Uriel. I am Bright. Pleased to be your acquaintance."
Yvan shrugged studied Brennan. "You look smart" he said but he was making sure that the both of them were straight. 'Damn they are. That's good news.'
"Why are you here?" Bright asked, amused at him. Yvan shifted his attention from Brennan to him and sighed.
"I went to check Joy out maybe 2 weeks ago to see how she manages to get by without Light." Yvan aswered and let go of the necklace he was holding next to his heart. "It's terrible. His remnants were nearly ashes and I think his embers are really gone now."
'Right. They saved Yvan before- that is why he is eager to help her.' Bright thought and sighed in relief. "So you went to check on us as well?"
"That's basically it." Yvan said. "But I remembered Twinquel tell me about this chosen who has blue hair and heterochromia."
Bright twitched at the sound of the name of his [sister]. There was a flash of her face that came to him like a light passing by and it hurt his [eyes] it became watery.
"Nice to meet you Bright." Yvan smiled at him and left.
The two of them were left behind and Brennan watched Bright as he self-destructed with his thoughts. He wanted to stop him and wake him up but from what he saw, the more setbacks Bright encounters, the more the flame burns in him.
'Ah, the heavens thought that sending a male chosen to a male human would be beneficial because they won't fall in love with each other.' Brennan thought and smiled at himself.
'My, My... It was my firat mission but I'm feeling sad.' he looked at Brighta and smiled a little. 'To even imagine that Bright would leave me is painful because without him, I'd be alone.'
'Being left by your lover is painful but I think being left behind by family is more than that. Bright has become my brother and my best friend and to even think that I'll forget about this all feels terrible.'
"Hey. I'm hungry." Bright said and his smile was back again. He offered his hand out to him because he was knocked a while ago and he took it.
"Seems like happy endings never happens." he said as he looked at the smile of his new brother and best friend.
