Chapter 1 - The Half Breed

My name is Tetsuya Kojima but my friends call me Tetsu for short. I am a half breed between human and ghoul. I have seen both worlds from both perspectives. Most of the community hates the ghouls. This is because ghouls eat humans. Ghouls also look exactly like humans

You are probably wondering, wait you just said ghouls look exactly like humans. Well yes you're right but biologically they are far from it. Ghouls can not eat regular food that humans eat like cake or chicken. For some reason though, ghouls are allowed to enjoy coffee like humans. This is a mystery that's never been solved. I told you the basic information you need now let's get into the story.

Sunday January 17th 2020 Kyoto, Japan

"Piece of crap. Who do you think you are trespassing on my grounds?" The Aogiri member yelled at me angrily.

"This is a park you don't own this place." To this day I wonder how I get myself into these situations where I trespass someone's 'property' and then I get my ass kicked. "Just leave me alone and let me go about my day."

"Ya hear that guys he wants us to let him go. I think it's better if we chop him up into pieces and EAT HIM!" The Aogiri member grinned.

The aogiri members unleashed their kagune. A kagune is an organ that only ghouls have that also function as a weapon. There are four types of kagunes Ukaku, Koukaku, Bikaku, and Rinkaku.

Ukaku is a wing like kagune from the shoulder area. Koukaku is a kagune released below the shoulder blade and can be used as a sword, shield, drills, hammers, and blades. Rinkaku is a scaled tentacle like kagune and it's released from the back around the waist. Rinkaku the final kagune has a tail like appearance and is released from the tailbone. As for me I have Ukaku.

They look like they haven't eaten human flesh in a while. A ghoul can't go longer than 2 months without eating human flesh. They are all weak so I can take them. I promised my mom to only use my Kagune for good and a life or death situation. It's also nighttime so I'll be fine until the cops come.

"Come and get me if you can." I antagonized them.

One of them lunged toward me and threw the first punch. I grabbed his arm and threw him to the ground. Another one came from behind and this one had a Koukaku as a sword. He stabbed me with the sword and it went right through my arm. Ghouls are four to seven times stronger than humans so a stab that goes through my arm doesn't hurt that much. Although a few more stabs to me I could actually be in pain.

I slid my arm out of the sword and back kicked his chest to push him back. I used my Ukaku and shot spikes from my wings at him. I then dodged the third person, grabbed his arm and twisted it then kicked him to back him away from me. He fell to the ground in pain. All of sudden you could hear police sirens. They must've been in the area and tracked the Aogiri that fast.

"Fuck.... you were holding back on us along kid. You're messed up. Aogiri squad lets go." The Aogiri members retreated.

I disappeared from the street lights into the darkness of the night. More police have been on patrol lately in Japan. Well at least on the east coast there have. Kyoto and Tokyo both thrive with ghouls more than any place in the country. This is because Tokyo is the most populated city in Japan with ghouls and humans. Almost a quarter of Tokyo's population moved to Kyoto because of the ghouls. As for my family we moved to Kyoto from Yokohama which is just south of Tokyo.

I walked into my new house that I just moved into a month and the lights were off except the one in the living room. I heard someone playing a song in the living room. It sounded like a rock song. It can't be my dad he's on a business trip or my mom because she's probably sleeping by now.

Before I could go into the living room I needed to find some sewing material to sew my wound in my arm. I found it on the dining room table then I went to the bathroom. I cleaned my wound and sewn it. Sharp stuff like kitchen knives or this sewing needle doesn't harm ghouls so it doesn't hurt me at all in any excruciating way. I exited the bathroom then put it in a drawer and after that I went to the living room and then I spotted my next door neighbor Harumi Ishioka.

Although I just moved here to Kyoto I already had a crush on Harumi since I met her. She has beautiful brunette hair with a few sun-kissed highlights. A beautiful face that is so vivid and her body is curvy. Not only that she is also smart, sweet, breathtaking, and so admirable.

"What are you doing in my house this late at night Haru." I call her Haru for short even though most of her friends call her by her full name. "Won't your parents be mad?" I questioned her.

"I just wanted to hang out with my blue haired friend." Harumi cheerfully said.

"Fine just don't be loud."

I turned on the TV and we started watching an episode of "One Piece." One Piece was in my top 5 of my favorite anime. Harumi loved to watch any anime so it didn't matter what I put on. As it got later in the night Harumi lays her head on my shoulder. I started to feel like I was going to faint.

She then looked at me and blushed. At the same time I started to blush. I was so confused about what was going on because my heart was racing as fast as a NASCAR car on a racetrack. We looked at each other and then we pulled each other in and I had my first kiss. Then we pulled away from each other and then we looked at each other gazing into one another's eyes. I had so many mixed emotions in those few seconds, but where did this take us.

In the mind of the public most would think this was wrong, a ghoul and a human dating. Nobody knows I'm a ghoul other than my family. How would Haru respond though if she finds out I'm a ghoul. I'll have to tell her at some point. That first kiss soon turned into a makeout session. All of a sudden my mom came out.

"Tetsu you have school tomorrow, go to bed!" My mom crankily yelled at me.

We both thought my mom noticed Haru and I making out, but she looked like she was sleep walking even though she yelled at me. My mom then went back to bed after getting a midnight cup of tea. Haru and I looked at each other while blushing again.

"I'll see you at school tomorrow Kojima-Kun." Haru cheerfully told me.

Haru held my hand real quick then kissed me goodbye. After she left I turned off my TV and then I got ready for bed. I then shimmied under the covers of my bed. I was so speechless I couldn't understand this "thing" that we now have going on. I then wondered the future of what would happen between us.
