Untainted Flower Petals

The sounds of spirit beast roaring and screeching, suppressed the screams of Fae Masters right before their deaths.

Corpses littered the battlefield, creating literal rivers of blood as they slowly trailed downwards towards the rivers and streams that flowed through Parachenko Village.

From what Arthur could see, the number of spirit beast corpses, far exceeded that of the dead Kovacs Clan Fae Masters, yet from a percentage perspective, the amount of losses on both sides should be around equal.

Fae Masters had the advantage, as they could used a lot more wide variety of attacks than the spirit beasts could, and possessed numerous traps and constructs which they could use in order to defend a specific location.

The spirit beasts had a much larger army, and their physical strength was stronger, but they couldn't compete against the tactics and strategies of humans.

.... The only problem was the origin essence regeneration of the Fae Masters.

Only those Baron Ranked and higher spirit beasts possessed Fae, so the normal spirit beasts only needed to use their bodies in order to fight.

On the other hand, Fae Masters needed Fae, and origin essence in order to bridge the gap between their physiques. Their strength wasn't enough alone to fight evenly with spirit beasts.

Eventually, their origin essence would run out, leaving them defenceless against the spirit beasts.

Arthur noticed Elder Vova take down another Baron Ranked spirit beast, nodding his head as he saw Dominic and Leon by his side.

"Thunderbolt Wolf.... and it even had a thunder flash Fae as well.... not bad".

Arthur glanced upwards slightly before slashing out with his moonsword fae, not even bothering to watch the headless body of the Knight Ranked Violet Condor fall to the ground.

The Rank 2 Fae Masters let quite a few Knight Ranked spirit beasts through their defences and towards the Village.

If one of those spirit beasts killed a group of mortals than so be it. It was just unlucky.

If a Rank 1 Fae Master didn't get there in time then once again, it was just plain unlucky.

The Fae Masters were the ones defending the Village. They didn't have to, but they did, out of love and respect for their Clan and Home.

Of course, Arthur didn't really give a shit about all that, and only killed those spirit beasts who got too close to him, opting to silently gaze at the battlefield, drinking his wine as he watched the chaos unfold.

He smiled as another large Baron Ranked spirit beast broke through, heading directly towards Elder Vova and his two brothers.

Leon, who noticed the approaching spirit beast, shouted out in order to get Dominic and Vova's attention.

"On our left! Surging Poison Serpent!".

Both Elder Vova and Dominic heard Leon's words and they got into their pre-arranged formation as the Baron Ranked Surging Poison Serpent approached.

It flicked its tongue out constantly as it swerved through the battlefield, ignoring the dead corpses that it slithered over.

It turned its gaze towards a Rank 2 Fae Master fighting a Water Shadow Wolf, before it spat a thick green liquid towards them both, covering them it a thick, viscous poison.

"Ah!!! Help me! Somebody please help-".

He didn't even have the time to finish his sentence before his skull melted under the thick venom.

Elder Vova frowned before turning to Leon.

"You won't be able to defend against such a beast. I will deal with this beast personally then!".

Leon and Dominic nodded before focusing their attention back towards the oncoming waves of spirit beasts.

This particular spirit beast was a Poison Attributed spirit beast. At Baron Rank, it could grow up to lengths of forty metres, and possessed bigger poison sacs than the usual snake spirit beast.

It could spray a thick, green venom, which acted more like acid towards a target, and melt them if their defences weren't high enough.

If one could resist the acidic properties of the venom, they would find their movements become more sluggish, and the thought process become slower if they came into physical contact with the venom.

Eventually, it would completely numb the affected area, shutting it down, even to the point where organs would stop working.

It was an extremely dangerous spirit beast.

Elder Vova frowned for a moment before activating a plethora of Fae, attracting the attention of the Surging Poison Serpent.

Elder Vova specialised in Wood Attributed Fae, which was the most commonly found Fae within Winter Rain Mountain. He, along with most of the other Lecture Hall Elders, helped assist Andrea in the decision making process when it came to her choosing Fae.

The Lecture Hall Elder summoned an enormous vine from up out of the ground, which to some degree, mimicked the shape and size of the Surging Poison Serpent.

It was almost forty metres long, and possessed the thickness of a large horse. Numerous leaves sprouted out over the entire length of the vine, and strange, white coloured flowers bloomed all over it too.

Arthur's eyes widened and he nodded slightly when he saw this attack.

He knew that Elder Vova had some attainment when it came to the , and such an attack would need the insight and the perception of someone much more talented than him.

Elder Vova must've gleamed some sort of Truth from the and created his own style of attacks.

"If that's the case, then even if he is old, and even if he is untalented in the scheme of things, he might even be able to touch upon the realm of Laws before he dies....".

Such a thing was normally restricted to Fae Immortals, but those talented enough, or those who could see the "Truths" behind the could discern some Mystery about the existence of Fae and the complimentary powers of their abilities.

If Arthur were to bet on who would reach the realm of Laws first in the Village, after him it would undoubtably be Andrea.

The Boundless Forest Yearning was created using the Laws of Wood and the Laws of Emotion after all.

Elder Vova's eyes flashed as he opened his mouth and stared the Surging Poison Serpent in the eyes.

"Wood Attributed Control Skill! Untainted Flower Petals!".

The moment those words left Elder Vova's lips, all of the white coloured flowers that grew on the massive vine fell down, swirling and twirling towards the Surging Poison Serpent.

The Baron Ranked spirit beast didn't know the strength or the abilities of these flowers but continuously swerved and twisted its body so as to avoid the oncoming shower of pristine, white coloured petals.

But, due to its immense size and huge physique, most of the flower petals missed the head of the Surging Poison Serpent, but gently brushed up against the thick, scaly body of the beast.

As if they were a hot knife running through butter, the white coloured petals sliced through the thick scales of the Surging Poison Serpent, cutting through large sections of scale and flesh, and even slicing straight through the bones of the beast in some instances.

The organs of the creature were huge, although due to its size it would be impossible to tell unless they were extremely familiar with the anatomy of a the Surging Poison Serpent.

Unfortunately for it though, Elder Vova was.

The forty metres long spirit beast went wide eyed for a moment before falling to the ground, its heart cut into tiny little pieces due to the flurry of petals that surged throughout its body.

It didn't even have the ability to resist as it died with its eyes open.

Most of the Fae Masters, as well as some of the more intelligent spirit beasts gazed at Elder Vova, who controlled those pristine white coloured petals.

The Elder in charge of the Lecture Hall didn't even blink as he waved his arm, commanding his petals to flow unhindered throughout the battlefield.

Despite their lack of colour, these petals remained unblemished, even in the face of rivers of blood.
