4.0 Awakening

Raymond opened his eyes, frantically viewing his surroundings. Panic and the feeling of uncertainty set in heavy until he realized he was at home. "What the fuck just happened" he thought to himself. The more he thought about it, the more he realized his memory was gone. What day was it? What time is it? Questions filled his head as he grasped reality of his situation. He reached for his phone and picked it up, unlocking the seemingly brightest object he'd ever seen, squinting to see the date and time. October 16th, 9:30 PM. Raymond could never tell if it was night or day in the cave that is his room thanks to the black out blinds he has. "Where did the day go?"

He slowly sat up, swinging his legs over the side of his bed as he did. The sensation of being light headed consumed him. He sat for a second until the feeling had faded then stood up slowly while bracing himself on his night stand ensuring not to fall. As he began slowly stepping over the clothing on his floor towards his door he could hear his mom in the main room. "But he just kept saying it over and over, should we call someone? What if he doesn't wake up?". His father attempting to calm her down only says the words "He's going to be fine".

Raymond opens his room door to find his mother and father sitting side by side staring at him like they had just seen a ghost. "Oh Raymond, you're awake! Are you ok?" his mother shouts. "Yeah, I'm fine. How did I get home? I don't really remember today at all". Raymond's parents look at each other puzzled "We picked you up from school after you collapsed. The nurse at your school said you hit your head pretty hard my man. You really don't remember any of it? What about the weird conversation we had in the car about your dreams you've been having?" his father said while sounding confused. Raymond was the one who was really confused. He wasn't much of a dreamer and when he did dream, he would forget them as he woke up. "Uh, no I don't remember any of it. Last thing I remember was being in class this morning" "Maybe you hit your head harder than we thought, you should get back to bed and try and sleep. Hopefully you don't have a concussion" his mother said while staring at Raymond's door almost to avoid eye contact. "Yeah, sure, I could use the sleep" "Were aware" his mother scolds.
