27 : Hope

{ Shino's POV }

Felix kept driving forward. All of us cannot see Chris in the road anymore.

" You guys alright? "

Felix asked.

" Yes...I can't believe we left Chris behind... "

Greg said.

" It's his choice. If I didn't did what he said, all of us are probably dead by now. "

Felix explained.

* Yes, he's right. Chris did that for our lives. He truly is a great man. *

Greg removed his shoes and slept.

" It's getting dark, you should probably sleep too. "

Felix said to me.

I looked outside the window and tried to remember the bag behind me earlier.

* How the hell is that possible? I didn't even felt it... *

I was about to sleep when we suddenly hit an infected.

" Shit! I'm sorry, I'll remove it. "

Felix said and he went outside.

* Huh? What was that thing? *

Something fell from my pocket.

* Oh, this is the thing that Monica gave me. Let me check this... *

I opened it and saw a new glass and a note.

" Shino, I'm sorry if I betrayed you. When I tied you up earlier, I hid a small bag in there too. So you can use it. I'm really sorry bud. "

I smiled and equipped the glasses.

* Thanks Kennedy, I know that you aren't that evil. *

Then Felix opened the door and went back to drive.

" Oh, look at that new glasses. That suits you well Shino! "

Felix whispered and smiled.

" Yes, the one that gave us the gas was my friend. His name's Kennedy. "

I said to him.

" Mhmmm. Not everyone in our base isn't that bad. Maybe some of Azul's dumb people but not everyone. "

Felix smiled.

" Goodnight. I'll take a rest now. "

I said and closed my eyes.

" Shino...? "

Someone said.

* Huh? Who's that.. *

I opened my eyes but it's too bright.

" Who are you..? "

I asked.

The person laughed.

" Why didn't you saved me...? I thought you...you loved me... "

She whispered.

" Monica...? Is that you Monica? "

I asked.

" Why didn't you saved me?! You just watched me die...YOU JUST WATCHED ME GET EATEN ALIVE! "

She shouted then someone slapped me.

* Huh? *

" Shino! Wake up! "

Greg shouted.

" Wh- I was dreaming....? "

I asked and rubbed my eyes.

* It was a nightmare then huh? *

" Where are we? "

I asked them.

" Well, we're almost there but look at that. "

Felix pointed at the window and I saw a bunch of dead bodies.

" It's stacked up like a wall....and that's disgusting! "

Greg said.

" What should we do now..? "

I asked Felix.

I went back at my seat and gave Felix time to think.

* This is a dangerous mission. Let's just hope that Chris will back us up and hope that we can come back alive. *

" Alright, we will go up there. "

Felix pointed at the rooftop.

" But isn't that dangerous? "

I asked him.

" Yes, of course that is dangerous. That's why we need to be careful. "

Felix said.

" When we are already at the top, you see that another building over there? "

Felix added and pointed at the smaller building.

" Yes, what? We will jump? "

I asked.

" There's your answer. "

Felix said and prepared his stuffs.

" What the- I hope that we'll come back alive. "

Greg said and grabbed his bat.

I reached for Chris's bag and gave it to Felix.

" Thank you. Here, take this. "

Felix handed me a handgun.

" That will surely come handy. But always think before you pull that trigger alright? "

Felix said and he went outside.

" Let's go too, just don't go forward. Felix will lead the way and he'll protect us. "

I said to Greg and we went outside.

" You guys ready? "

Felix asked us.

" Uh- yes? Probably? "

Greg said and we went forward.

I looked everywhere and didn't saw any infecteds.

" This path's clean. "

I said and Felix opened the building's door.

Ground floor was silent and no signs of infecteds.

I can feel that Greg is scared but this was our only way.

We went upstairs and reached the 8th floor.

" Wait....I'm exhausted.. "

Greg said and he sat at the stairs.

" Shh...there's no time to rest! "

Felix whispered.

Greg stood up but suddenly tripped and fell.

He's alright but those bottles aren't.

* Is that survivors? *

I saw someone walking out from the dark.

* No they're not...huh? *

I focused more.

" Felix! Infecteds! "

I said and he carried Greg.

We kept running until we reached the rooftop's door.

" Shit! It's locked. "

I said to them.

" Shoot it! Do anything just open it! They seems hungry! "

Felix announced.

I grabbed my gun and bashed the lock.

" It won't open! "

I said to him.

" Shoot it! "

Felix said and he starts kicking the infecteds.

I aimed at the lock and pulled the trigger.

" Here! Come! "

I opened the door and closed it after they went out.

Felix pushed an airconditioner in the door so they won't be able to open it.

" That will do. Let's go. "

Felix said and looked at the other building.

" We might reach it or we might not. "

He announced.

" We've got no choice but to do this. "

Felix added and removed his bag.

" Take this, you can pass it to me when I'm at the other side. Don't worry, I'll catch it. "

He commanded and prepared.

* Please don't die on us now. *

" Do or die...! "

He said and ran and jumped.

I didn't watched him because I looked behind.

Then we heard a loud crash.

* Huh? Is- is he dead?! *

I looked below and didn't saw Felix.

" What are you looking for?! I'm here bud! "

Felix shouted and waved at us.

* Thank god he's alive. *

" Catch this Felix! "

I shouted and aimed for him.

" I will! Do not worry! "

He shouted and I threw it.

* Fuck! It won't reach! *

He caught it but he almost fell.

My heart starts to beat fast.

* That is what you call a close call.... *

" Greg, you go first. I don't want you to be the last one to jump. "

I said to him but he looks scared.

" Go on, Felix will catch you. "

I smiled and he stood up.

" Are you...sure? "

He asked me.

" Of course, don't worry. Have faith in him. "

I said and he prepared to jump.

" Go! "

I shouted and he jumped.

* Please make it over there... *

I closed my eyes and heard Felix.

" FUCKING SHIT! "
