"Lucas it's been too long since I've seen you .."

My mom said with motherly affection. Me and Julian stared dumbfounded, I mean did she just call him Lucas what-

"Woah, Woah,Woah what on Exylus is going on here?!" I looked at Mom then at Lu Jinyu giving them a perplexed look. I then yanked mom into a corner, "explain!"

Just how did my mum even know Lu Jinyu this should be their first time meeting!

I looked at Lu Jinyu staring hard at him, my mom pulled my hand as I turned my focus back onto her.

"Look Irene there are a lot of things that you don't know it's not that I dont want to tell you I just... I j-."

I felt myself just suddenly speak,

"You always act like those people in the movies who act like keeping a secret from those you love all to yourself is good..but it's not! Your just distancing yourself from us your not helping us your making us...us feel like we can't trust you!"

As I blurted it all out my voice slowly quietened towards the end as I saw mum's face crumple in disappointment.

I looked away from mum as she told me, "Irene I understand... but you don't trust me that just breaks my heart, I want to tell you but... it's not a story for me to tell..."

Mum looked at Lu Jinyu as he was being questioned by Julian.

••On the other side of the corner of the room••

"Wait so your telling me that you somehow knew my mum she's twice- no triple as old as you!" Julian exclaimed.

Lu Jinyu laughed, "It's a long story but you could say that I knew her since I was a child."

"But then how come I've never seen you before..hmmmm...your not that much older than me...nah that's bull-"

Mom sharply looked at Julian as if she would slice him into half as Julian smiled (nervously) and shut his mouth. Me and mom both came out of our corner to address what was really going on.

"Ok first we are going home then we talk, because I'm pretty tired.."

Before Julian could argue mom was out the door as I followed on and then Lu Jinyu followed on too before Julian finally did. We got into the hover taxi and sat in silence you could hear the droplets of rain hitting against the silver glass window and how it ran down like a tear drop.

I looked down below me outside at people, walking, running and hover boarding across the wide lanes of Tyrus city. The high glass buildings that disappeared into the lilac clouds.

At the corner of my eye I noticed the mysterious Lu boy looking at me, I felt drawn to his eyes and for some reason I turned my head around to lock with his silvery, pearl white eyes. I looked at his sharp-thin nose, his jawline sharp like a knife, his coral-pink lips and wavy, white hair. I felt a strange feeling he really was beautiful, I just thought who was this handsome mysterious stranger who knows my mom literally better than me...and seems to from an other-worldly place.

I don't know it was just a feeling but I felt it in my bones there was something like I had known him before. I did feel a little jealous I thought I knew Lu Jinyu/Lucas better than anyone else we always spent hours talking to each other like we had known eachother for years... but it turned out I don't even know his real name...

The car stopped and our eyes unlocked as we got out the car and my mum scanned her eyes on the money scanner as the taxi drove away.

She opened the door as we all fled inside like sheep following the shepherd, I flung myself onto the sofa relaxing as I switched the chair relaxer on. Julian sat down next to me while Lu boy sat on the other side.

Oh boy how I hate to be in the middle...,

"Um.. Lu..Lu...what should I call you I don't even know your real name...?"

As I intensified the awkward atmosphere between us, "oh...you can just call me Lucas if you want that is my real name but my cultural name is Lu Jinyu so I wasn't lying-"

He said trying to cool the atmosphere.

"Ok... Lucas.."

I said sharply cutting him off, for some reason I was mad at him even though I had no reason to be it wasn't his fault he knew mom...but I couldn't deny I couldn't help feeling a little...well it wasn't like I was jealous why would I need to be... at first I thought my life was playing out as a comic book but this is not how typical comic books go. The mysterious guy who showed up at a beach isn't supposed to know your mom better than you..I mean-

As my clouded thoughts were interrupted by mom as she said seeing the tension between us, "Why don't you two go make some food for us...Erion-noodles preferably...no argument just go!"

My mum said sharply as I walked to the kitchen with him avoiding eye contact at all costs, I put my purple pinkish strings of hair in front of my eyes only for Lu Jinyu to pop out right in front of me.

"I'm sorry for not telling you my real name but I prefer when you call me Lu Jinyu...and I know it may be weird that I know your mom but I promise you'll know soon..."

I didn't answer but just nodded in my head I was going crazy why did the both of them have to keep on keeping this from me...it made me curious how they met.

"Lu Jinyu I trust you even though I've known you for less than a month thats probably because your an easy going and trustable person, so I'm just sad that you didn't tell me you know my mum.."

To my shock Lu Jinyu started laughing, I tried my best to say those words and his reaction...was to laugh! I stepped on his foot balancing on it as I picked up a pot. His face clenched as he grabbed his feet hopping.

"Ouchh, that hurt you know I was only laughing because you sound jealous Irene, is that because you want to know me better."

He said as he leaned in close to me.

I picked up the noodle packet and threw at him. I knew this typical scene in comics I know I would miss the aim and fail but actually I didn't I managed to hit him, he smiled in defeat. As I laughed, he was lucky to be friends with me. The hot water started spitting out water as my heart thumped in pain from the hotness, Lu Jinyu crouched and picked up my finger dabbing it with a wet tissue his face an inch away from mine.

I thought my heart was thumping because of the burning pain on my finger but for some reason my heart was thumping really hard and my cheeks were red for different reasons to what I initially thought...
