CHAPTER 14

Harley couldn't help but smile. "Why are you smiling?" Ivy asked.

"Well, I just like it when you talk about things you're passionate about. How you can't help but bite your lip. Happiness is a good look on you." Harley exclaimed.

"Really? I feel the same about you. You have such an amazing laugh. Like you don't care what anyone thinks of you. That's always been one of my favorite things about you." She blushed.

"So their's still something you like about me?" Harley giggled.

Then, they looked at each other with a longing stare. "You know, I don't hate you. There are a few things I like about you." Ivy broke the silence.

"Like what?"

"Well, I like the way you twirl you're hair. Or when you dance if you're excited. It's like you have this light in your eyes. The little blue swirls in them they just look perfect on you. But if you get sad, no matter how much you try to hide it, I can see it in your eyes. They can't lie to me." She explained.

"I-I didn't mean to say that. I...I'm sorry-" Ivy was embarrassed.

"Don't be. I'm glad to know you still care about me."

"I've always cared about you, Quinn. I never stopped. But that doesn't mean we can be friends." Harley could see the disappointment in her eyes when she said that.

"But why?" Harley asked. "What's the point in not being with someone you love when their right in front of you?" She blurted out.

"Y-you love me?" Ivy stuttered.

Harley sighed. "Yeah, I do. Isn't it obvious? You're like my best friend. Well we used to be anyway. I'm tired of not getting to say that we're friends."

"Just friends?"

"Of course. I don't want to be you're enemy. I want to have fun. With you."

"That's all you want? Is to be buddies? Partners in crime? Just the two of us, as friends?" Ivy questioned.

"Yeah, what else would we be?"

"N-nothing. We wouldn't b-be anything." Ivy's cheeks were burning red.

"Oh. Yeah.." Harley was also red.

"So, would you want to be... ya know.. partners?...In crime of course!" Harley was nervous.

"You know we can't."

"But what's stopping us? Why do we have to stay away from each other? Why can't we be happy?"

Ivy gulped. She wanted to be around Harley all the time but she knew she couldn't. She knew what would happen and she couldn't do it.

"I am happy, without you!" She yelled as she stormed off. She hid the tears that were dripping from her eyes. She hated that she had to do that.

Harley hesitated before running after her.

"Ivy wait!" She shouted. Ivy stopped but didn't turn around. She didn't say anything. She just waited for Harley to say something.

Harley grabbed her shoulder. "Please... Don't leave me again..." Her voice was shaky.

"Please..." Tears streamed down her cheeks. Her face was hot and red.

Ivy made a swift turn and wrapped one arm around Harley's waist and the other was cupped to her cheek. She planted a long kiss on her lips.

Harley was surprised but she kissed back. It was hot and soft. Ivy inched her tongue into Harley's mouth. They embraced each other as they continued to kiss.

It felt like weight had been lifted off of their shoulders. Like they had finally felt free.
