CHAPTER 22

"Kill her? She's.. then Penguin will want me dead all over again. She's isn't that bad, don't ya think that's a little harsh?" Harley muttered.

"Well, I'll make sure the blame doesn't come to you."

"How are you gonna do that?" She wondered.

"Make it look like an accident. Maybe a car reck or something?" Ivy suggested. "You can't stay with someone who's dead. Get married wait a day or two and bam! She dies." She continued.

"N-no! We're not doing that! Absolutely not. She's sweet. She doesn't deserve that." Harley stepped back.

Ivy thought for a moment. "Do you have feelings for her or something?" She had her eyebrow raised.

"Wh- no! I thought I was the crazy one. Of course I don't have feelings for her!"

"Then why does it matter if she died?" Ivy asked.

"Because... I.. It doesn't matter, okay?!" She tried to walk away but was stopped by a hand grabbing her wrist.

"Ivy What are you-"

"So it wouldn't matter if I did this?" With that she kissed her as she held her into a tight embrace. It felt so safe yet daring. A part of Harley didn't want her to stop. Her soft warm lips kissed her like a burning fire. So hot, it felt like she was melting into it. For a split second in time, it was just like they had each other. Just them two.

But finally Harley pushed her away.

"Stop! You- you're just like him. Messing with my feelings. Pretending to care about me just to- to leave me. Well I can't do it anymore, Red. I've had enough. I can figure this out on my own. I don't need you.." A tear fell from her rosy cheeks. She rushed to get inside before Ivy could say anything else.

"I'm sorry. I really am.. but I guess there's a change in plans." Ivy mumbled...

During the night they slept in the guest bedroom.

Nether of them could sleep but they both pretended they could. Eventually Ivy got up and as she tried to sneak out Harley caught her. "What are you doing?"

Ivy turned around. "I have to use the bathroom." She lied.

"There's a bathroom right there.." Harley pointed as she raised an eyebrow. She stood up and walked over to Ivy. "What are you really do-in?" She asked.

"I'm just.." She sighed. "I need to think and I think best around plants. They make me feel, better. But you should get some sleep. You will probably need your rest. Why aren't you sleeping with your wife to be anyways?" Ivy wondered.

"Apparently it's bad luck to do that." Harley rolled her eyes. "Anyways I can't sleep, can I join you?" She gave her puppy dog eyes.

Ivy took in a deep breath. "Sure." She answered.

They went to the fancy balcony on the west wing of the mansion. There, they stood in silence gazing upon the stars. They thought about the last time they did that. It was so peaceful. It was just the two of them. Surrounded by all the thorn filled flowers they could taste the fresh air. It was so calming. Finally they felt relaxed.

"You lied." Ivy claimed.

"What?" Harley was confused.

"You lied when you said you loved Bruce Wayne. You pretended it was a joke but I saw the look in your eyes. You said you loved someone else. The passion in your voice, I heard it. So Quinn, tell me.. who do you really love?" She licked her lips. She was intrigued to here her answer.

"It's..." She sighed. "It's you, red. The person I love is you..." She bit her lip in nervousness.
