Signing Up

Amaya, Emi and Katsu had arrived at a restaurant.

They walked in and went over to a table. Amaya and Emi sat next to each other and Katsu sat across from them. They picked up the menus and began looking through them.

Emi pointed at a pictureof a small cake on the menu. It was called "Angel Cake"

"This looks good."

"Is that what you want?", Amaya asked.

Emi nodded.

Amaya turned and looked at Katsu.

"Alright, have you decided what you want?"

"Yeah, I have." Katsu replied.

Amaya raised her hand in the air and shouted.

"Hey! We are ready to order!"

A man peeked his head out from the kitchen and walked over.

"What will you have today?" Asked the waiter.

Amaya looked at the menu.

"ummm...I'll have the...Lizard tail soup."

The waiter then turned to look at Emi

"Okay, and what will you have?"

"I...I'll have the Angel cake!" Emi excitedly shouted."

He turned to Katsu.

"How about you?"

"I'll have a large plate of fries." Katsu replied.

The waiter smiled "I'll be back with your guys's food in just a sec."

He then walked back to the kitchen. Amaya, Emi and Katsu all looked at eachother. Amaya began thinking to herself."

It's awkward if we just sit around. I should start a conversation. About what though?" Amaya then looked at Katsu.

"So, Where are you from?" Asked Amaya.

"Ear-" Katsu quickly stopped himself from finishing his sentence.

He then thought to himself.

"That was close...I can't let people from this world know I'm from another. Who knows how they'll react."

Amaya wore a confused look on her face.

"Huh?"

"Was he about to say Earth?" Amaya thought to herself.

Katsu scratched the back of his head.

"It's a small town called Earth."

He then thought to himself. "Really?! Is that the best cover up I can come up with?"

"Where is that?" Amaya asked.

"Umm. It's s-some place far." Katsu replied.

Amaya thought to herself "Woah, there is actually a town called Earth? Also, why is he acting weird? Did I touch a sensitive subject or something?"

Emi was staring at Amaya and Katsu as she thought to herself "Hmmm….They are acting really really weird."

The waiter started walking out of the kitchen with a tray carrying the three plates.

"Here's your food."

He placed the fires in front of Katsu, the cake in front of Emi, and the soup in front of Amaya.

Amaya and Katsu let out a breath of relief.

"That was getting awkward. Good thing he brought the food when he did." Amaya thought to herself.

"Alright, let's eat." said Katsu.

Twenty minutes later…..

"I'm so….full" said Emi.

Amaya raised her hand and shouted.

"We are ready to pay!"

The man who had served them walked over.

"It'll be four-teen copper."

Amaya reached in her pocket and pulled out a small bag then placed it on the table.

"Here you go."

Amaya, Emi and Katsu stood up and walked out.

"We should go for a walk." Amaya suggested.

"Sounds good." said Katsu. They began walking.

Amaya then looked at Emi .

"I'm thinking about getting the both of us registered at the training academy. I'm not sure about when yet. Maybe in about a week or less."

Emi had a happy look on her face.

"Yay. I can finally learn how to fight and use magic. I will become super super strong and beat all the monsters."

Katsu looked at the both of them.

"I was thinking about leaving in a couple of days to register at a different academy that focuses on sword fighting."

"You're barely telling us this now?" Amaya asked.

"At first I wasn't sure about it, but since you two will be gone for awhile at the training academy then I guess I'll just head to the sword academy."

At that moment, a sign on a tree caught Amaya's attention.

"Woah, look at that." Amaya then walked over to the sign.

(Fighting Tournament: Only ten fighters will be accepted. Magic and wooden weapons are allowed. Winner will receive two-hundred pieces of copper, five-hundred pieces of silver and ten pieces of gold. Tournament will be held at the sparring arena.Sign up at the adventurers guild.)

"We should enter." said Amaya.

Katsu shook his head.

"No. We can be sure that skilled adventurers will be signing up. We would have little to no chance of winning."

"But would it hurt to try?" Amaya asked.

Katsu let out a sigh

"Fine. I'll sign up with you, but there's no guarantee that we will be accepted."

Amaya smiled.

"Well, let's find out."

They arrived at the adventurers guild. It was a building that looked about two to three stories high.

"Let's go in," said Amaya.

They all walked in.

Emi looked around in surprise.

"Wow. This place is big."

There were wooden tables with adventurers sitting at them, eating and drinking. A couple of the adventurers looked at Amaya And her group as they walked in.

One of them stood up. He was a tall man, muscular and was about seven-feet tall.

He then walked over to Amaya.

"I haven't seen you guys around here before."

Amaya looked freaked out by the man.

"We are here to sign up for the tournament," said Katsu.

The man smiled.

"Why didn't you just say so. You sign up over there."

He then turned around and pointed at a woman who was standing behind a counter.

"Oh...Okay, Thanks" Amaya nervously said.

They walked over to the counter.

The woman smiled.

"How can I help you?"

"Oh, we are here for the tournament." said Amaya.

"You made it just in time, the tournament starts tomorrow. How many of you are signing up?"

Amaya pointed at Katsu.

"Just me and him."

"Okay, let me get the papers for you. It'll be just a second." said the woman. She went down behind the counter. The sound of her moving papers around could be heard.

"Hmmm….. Where did those papers go?...Oh! Here they are."

The woman then stood up and was holding two papers with one in each hand. She handed them to Amaya and Katsu

The paper had several places to sign.

(Name: Age: Occupation: Arena Name:)

Amaya was confused by what "Arena Name" meant. She looked at the woman and asked "What's an arena name?"

"That just means what name you want the announcer to call you by." the woman replied.

Amaya now understood what everything meant.

"Ohhhhh. Do you have a pen I can use?"

The woman smiled.

"Absolutely, just give me a second." She then went down behind the counter. The sound of metal falling and papers moving around could be heard as a cat let out a scream.

"Meow!"

"Seriously, what is going on behind there?" Amaya thought to herself.

The woman stood up with a pen in her hand and her hair was all messy. She then handed the pen to Amaya. She quickly wrote down all her Info.

(Name: Amaya Age:24 Occupation: None Arena name: Amaya)

"Done!" Amaya handed the paper back to the lady.

She grabbed it and placed it in a black-colored folder titled "Tournament"

Amaya looked over at Katsu who seemed to be having a hard time deciding what his arena name should be.

He thought to himself.

"What should I put as my arena name?"

Amaya snatched the paper out of his hands, leaned over on the counter and started writing.

Katsu was confused.

"What are you doing?!"

"I'm choosing your arena name." She replied.

Amaya then handed the paper to the lady. She then placed it in the folder.

"I hope she didn't chooses a stupid name." Katsu thought to himself.

"I have an idea!" said Amaya.

"What's your idea?"

Amaya stretched her arms into the air.

"Let's go to the forest and spar."

"Are you challenging me?" Katsu asked.

"Yeah, let's see how strong you really are."

"Okay , let's go."

In the forest... Amaya and Katsu stood apart from each other.

"So when do you want to start?" Katsu asked?

"I'll count down from five. When I reach zero, we start."

Amaya then began to count down "Five….four….three….two….one!"

Amaya and Katsu both ran at each other.

"Time slow!"

"Dash!" Amaya began slowly getting closer.

She quickly turned around and swung her fist.

"I see it!" Katsu said to himself. He then moved out of the way and swung his leg, hitting Amaya's chest. The force of the hit pushed her back as she regained her balance.

Katsu began seeing everything at its normal speed again.

Amaya thought to herself

"He was able to counter my attack because of his skill that slows time. He won't be able to use it for another good minute. If I overwhelm him with attacks then he can't dodge."

She swung her leg at him but missed.

Suddenly, he was now behind her

"My speed is 3 times faster than yours."

Amaya quickly turned around but he wasn't there. He was now behind her again. She turned around once more, he wasn't there either.

Amaya was stressed, as she couldn't keep up with his movements.

"He's toying with me. How can I even land a hit. Wait, I can do what that one monster did to me. He hit the ground and it shook. He was easily stronger than me, but maybe if I use penetration combined with dash then it'll work. Amaya jumped up into the air. As she began to fall back down she shouted "Dash! Penetrate!" She swung her fist it at the ground. It cracked and shook violently as Katsu was struggling to keep his balance.

"Time slow!"

He then thought to himself.

"Okay, how do I dodge this. I haven't fully caught my balance so I can't move. Does this mean she's gonna land that hit? Well played."

Amaya grined

"Penetrate!"

She swung her fist, hitting him in the face, knocking him back.

(Katsu: Hp:200/515)

Amaya coughed up blood.

"What is this."

"You went over your mana limit." Katsu replied

(Amaya: Hp: 165/ 364)

He then began explaining.

"For every one of Mp that goes over your total Mp limit equals minus one percent of your total Hp. Your Mp limit is One-hundred-ninety-five. You used dash twice which means you overwent your limit by five. Your max Hp is three-hundred-sixty-five. Five percent of that is around eighteen. That's how much health you lost, you'll be fine."

Amaya smiled.

"Are you some kind of mathematician?"

"The match is over. Let's head back to town." said Katsu.

Amaya then stretched her arms out as she said "Sounds good, I'm feeling tired."

Emi came out from behind the trees.

"I'm feeling tired too."

"Okay then, let's go." said Katsu.

Suddenly, they heard growling noises coming from behind. They all turned around.

There were three tall monsters. Their skin was so dark it looked like a shadow.

Amaya then thought to herself.

"I've fought those type of monsters before."

Katsu stared at them.

"Those are shadow bears. Let me handle them."

He then shouted "Sword, appear!"

A bright blue light shined from his hand then faded away. He was now holding a sword.

Katsu began running towards them

"Time slow!"

He was suddenly behind the bears.

"Quick slash!"

A bright blue light folowed the swing of his sword. There was a couple seconds of silence, then the bears all fell over.

Both Emi and Amay had a surprised expression on their face.

"Okay, we can leave now." said Katsu.

Back in town....They had at the Inn and the sun had completely gone down. Amaya yawned as her eyes watered.

"Let's go in."

The three of them walked in and A man was standing at the counter.

Amaya walked over.

"That'll be nine silver coins for all three of you." said the man.

"I'm paying for myself." said Katsu.

The man then looked at Amaya.

"Oh, Okay, that'll be six silver coins for you and the little girl."

She reached in her pocket and pulled out a bag of coins. Amaya handed it to the man as he grabbed it and looked inside.

"Okay, here's your key. You'll be in room five, right up the stairs."

Amaya grabbed the key and began walking up the stairs as Emi followed.

Amaya and Emi reached their room.

There were two beds. Amaya and Emi both jumped then landed on one.

"Finally, I can sleep," said Amaya.

"Yeah, I was feeling really really tired." Emi replied.

Amaya stared at the ceiling as she slowly closed her eyes.
