Do you ever wish that you can control the way things happen? I always think about how things would have turned out differently If I had that kind of power. My name is Katsu. All my life bad things had happened around me. I wouldn't say I have bad luck, more like good luck because I always manage to solve or survive the bad things. Right before something bad happens, I get a strange gut feeling. That gut feeling is my key to the solutions and my survival. When I was nine, I was in the backseat of my parents car. My father was driving and my mother was in the passenger seat.
As we were driving I had that strange gut feeling. I told them that I had to throw up. They pulled off the road.
About twenty seconds passed. Up ahead on the road we were previously driving on, a truck carrying a tank of gasoline caught on fire. The truck and the other cars around it got caught in an explosion.
The funny thing is, that was the same exact truck we were driving behind before we stopped.
I've had little events like this off and on throughout my years. Nothing big happened until recently. Ten years later, I was at a grocery store when I suddenly had that gut feeling. I knew I had to get out of there so Instead of buying anything, I left. About ten minutes later, an earthquake happened and the grocery store collapsed. A couple people died.
Instead of leaving right away I should've told people that something bad was going to happen. Maybe then, some lives could have been saved. But, who would believe someone randomly telling people to leave because something bad was going to happen?
Later on when the sun was going down, I went home. My home was still intact.
"Good, because I'm exhausted," I said to myself.
I went inside and laid down. Maybe If I did tell people that something bad was going to happen, most of those deaths still would have happened regardless. If I couldn't have saved everyone there, I would have rather died In someone else's place. I'm no hero, but I wish I would get another chance to save lives.
Then I closed my eyes and went to sleep.
The next day…. As I opened my eyes, the sun was in my face. It was bright. My back was hurting and for some reason my bed was uncomfortable. I heard voices all around me. I sat up and realized.....I was not in my house.
My back didn't hurt because of my bed, it was because I was on a road made of stones. And the voices were from people walking by. I looked at them. They were all dressed weird.
"Why the hell are they dressing like it's medieval times? Is there some kind of event? Wait, why am I worried about that? Why am I even here in the first place?"
I stood up and approached a man with animal ears.
"Do you know where the train station is?"
The man gave me a weird look.
" What's a train?"
"You know, that thing that moves along the tracks that you ride in. It goes really fast."
The man looked at me in confusion.
"Look, nothing like that exists. Are you crazy or something? You are dressed pretty strangely."
I was wearing black shoes, grey sweatpants and a blue hoodie.
I looked down and thought to myself.
"What does he mean by saying that trains don't exist. Also, I'm not dressed fancy or anything but I'm sure that I'm dressed normally."
I looked back up at the man.
"Sorry for bothering you." I walked off.
As I was walking, I noticed something. In the corner of my view (Hp:15)
Right below was something else.
(Mp: 9)
As a kid, I played lots of video games so I knew what these things meant.
"What!? I would think that this is some kind of prank but I can clearly see it."
Everyone around me looked at me like I was crazy. I didn't want everyone to think I was someone who needed to be locked up so
I decided to walk into an alley. In the top left corner of my view, I noticed that there was a circle icon there. I focused on it on something that said "Menu" came up.
Right below "Menu" were two other things that said "Stats" and "Skills"
I then realized I was In some sort of parallel world where life is like a game.
I checked my stats .
( Level:1 Hp:15 Mp:9 Atk:5 Speed:11 Endurance:17 Exp:0 Expn:100 )
Then I checked my skills but, just as you would expect, there were no skills.
(Skills: lvl. 1 Sixth Sense, No other skills)
"I guess I need to level up somehow. If this is like a game then there are bound to be monsters."
Six months later...I have been in this world for awhile now. I have leveled up a lot since my first day.
(Level:28 Hp:435 Mp:330 Atk:175 Armor:1,850 Speed:140 Endurance:280 Exp:200 Expn:2,800)
During the months I've been here, I learned equipment Is very Important. I've also learned that this world is crueler than my old world. It hasn't even been a year and yet, I've seen so many people die in front of me, people I called friends. It's taken a great toll on my mental health. I don't know what life is anymore.
I try to stay prepared for the worst. I wear a long black trench coat that I reinforced with magic steel plated boots.
In my magic storage are lots of items. Knives, Hp recovery potions, Mp recovery potions, strength enhancing pills, speed enhancing pills and a deadly sword.
(Skills: Sixth Sense,Quick Slash, Flying slash, Time slow, Hundred clone slice, Double clone slice No other skills)
I am about to enter a forest to find monsters. It's my main way of coping with my emotion, ending the lives of monsters.
It was time to head in.
