My body was *paralyzed with fear, I couldn't move. I couldn't even blink my eyes. I knew I had to do something. After staring at each other for a few seconds, I finally managed to move. I got up from my bed and scrambled to the door. Once I got there, I turned around to look at the window and he was gone. He was gone again without a trace. My heart was still racing even after he disappeared. "N-no way, I imagined that. People don't just vanish into thin air. C'mon, there's no reason to freak out."I whispered in vain. I walked back to my bed and sat there. Water, I need water. My throat felt constricted, fear and confusion slithering tightly around me like a snake. Frantically I searched for water, and I could feel my hand still shaking. I didn't care if I dropped it, I just needed water. Somehow I managed to wrap my fingers around the glass and bring it to my lips. The sensation of the cool water running down my throat calmed me. As I set the glass back down on the table Adam came walking through the doors with a smile. "Oh you're awake, that's great! How are you feeling?" he asked. "I feel a lot better after some rest." I murmured. Adams' smile slowly faded and a serious look had replaced it. 'As you know I am a physicist, so I took the liberty of investigating the gas that was used to poison you and those kids. I found traces of Dimethylmercury. Dimethylmercury is an extremely deadly chemical, although it's a liquid poison so they must have burned it for it to change into gas and retain its potency. Dimethylmercury is very flammable and if you have some of that in your system it should be dangerous for you to get near sparks or flames."Adam said grimly.I looked down at my hands as I remembered what I dreamed about last night. A nurse who looked the same age as us (20) walked into the room, her name was Clare. She came to my room often and gave me company when no one else was there. We became good friends over time. One day she introduced herself to Adam and gave me breakfast, but she was oddly silent which was weird because usually she never stopped talking, not that I minded. All she said was, "Can I talk to you outside?", to Adam. They both walked outside and left me to my thoughts Why would she need to speak to Adam? What's going on… *Clare and Adam's conversation* "Your name is Adam right?", Clare asked.
"That's my name," Adam replied. "This might be a personal question, but I really am concerned for him. Mr. Rogers is more cold and distant than any of my other patients. Did something happen in his past?", she asked. I'll tell you everything you need to know but I can't share his secrets."Adam said skeptically. Claire slightly nodded. They both had tense expressions. "When he was young his parents died tragically, and unfortunately he saw it all. Some burglars broke into their house and murdered his parents. They planned to kidnap and sell him, but luckily the police arrived on time. Unluckily, it was very hard for him to cope, especially with no support system. We met at an orphanage. He was always so quiet and lonely, so I always talked to him. After that day we became friends and he-" Adam didn't finish explaining, as he was cut off by Claire. "Wait, why do you keep calling him 'him'. What's his name? He never told me his name and his documents don't help much. We only refer to him by his last name, why is that?" she asked curiously. "His….name? I guess I had never thought of his name. He's always been, Rogers. His name is...I-I can't remember," Adam said. His name? Name. Name. Name. Wait, his name is- Adam clutched his head, intense pain clouded his vision and made him stumble. "Oh my gosh! Are you okay, what's wrong?!" Claire rushed out, panicked. "I don't know but my head feels like it's going to explode," he said trembling. "If you don't want to continue you don't have to," she said. "No I'm fine, I'll be alright. Anyways, he really likes bright lights like fire. So if there's any way to make it brighter and warmer in his room, I'm sure he would appreciate that. "Ok, thanks for the information and I'll see what I can do. I'm still curious about his name, so do you want to go ask him?" she said. "Yeah, I'm curious too," Adam said as they walked into the room. Immediately they noticed the open window, and Mr. Rogers nowhere to be found.
