Breakup & Condition

"Let's break up."

"... What did you say?"

"I said, let's break up."

The students who were walking past us stop, looking towards us with gaping mouths.

"W-why...?" I stutter, my heart clenching as if a python is coiling around it.

"You know the answer, don't you? I don't love you anymore," he replies in a monotonous voice as he leaned against the locker, refusing to meet my gaze.

"Yeah... you know what? Let's break up," I mutter, deciding to save myself from the embarrassment of reacting dramatically in front of my classmates. With clenched fists, I turn and walk away from his slouching figure.

As I walk away, I ask myself, "Why did he do this to me...?" It seems like everything inside of me is breaking as tears rush down my cheeks like a flooding river.

"Stop crying Y/N... Aish, that douchebag! How could he do this to you?!" Bomi yells with anger clear on her face. I had called her over as soon as I got home. It didn't take long for her to drop everything and come over to wipe the snot from my nose.

Bomi slams the table with a scowl before standing up, "I promise you will find someone a thousand times better than him, Y/N!!"

"But Bomi... I still love him. I can't lose him... Can't you help me think of some way to get him back?" My heart aches as if it's on a rollercoaster and I'm about to plummet. My slight nausea making me shift in my seat.

"Aish, I don't get why you're so stubborn, Y/N. Just let that douchebag go already!" She scowls, lips puckered with anger.

"Please, Bomi! Help me out... please?" I beg, pouting with puppy eyes as I tug on her arm.

She sighs. "Alright! Fine. Since I'm your best friend, I'll help you out." Bomi taps her chin in thought for a moment before nodding, "Okay, first of all, you have to make him jealous!"

"Jealous? How do I do that?"

"Think about it yourself. I can only do this much."

I groan at her words. Such a great help.

The next day, I find myself buying food from the cafeteria, searching for a place to sit. As I finish handing over the change, I hear Hoseok call my name and signal for me to come over. Unfortunately, I become the center of attention and practically shrivel up like a prune when everyone begins whispering, their eyes locked on me.

I want to refuse his offer, but he comes and helps me carry my food. My head is bowed in embarrassment as we approach the blue table.

Upon reaching the table, I glance at Taehyung's friends before meeting his eyes. I feel paralyzed in his seemingly endless stare. Luckily, my phone vibrating jumps me from my paralysis.

My eyes widen upon seeing the new post on my phone.

"The popular Taehyung decides to break up with Y/N? Heh, not bad, Tae." My wide orbs befall Jimin, who stands behind me, reading the text on my phone.

His head is tilted, allowing the shaggy black mop of hair to hang on to the side- I say shaggy, yet somehow, it looks silky. I don't understand how these guys look as good as they do. It's like god crafted them and was like "Good luck, girls. Have fun!"

But Jimin is one of Taehyung's friend and another popular guy in school. Actually, all of Taehyung's friends, including himself, are pretty popular in school. No matter how popular Jimin is, however, there are rumours saying he's a bad boy. That's besides the point, though.

"Shut up, Jimin! Do you want everyone to know about this?" I screech, eyes widening with anxiety.

"Oh, come on! I bet more than half of the school already knows." He shrugs with a smirk.

"You better shut your mouth if you don't want to die," I snarl. Goodness, why did he have to be such a jerk?

We stare daggers at each other, ready to jump into a brawl before Taehyung interrupts, saying, "Guys I need to go now. See ya later."

My mind clicking with an idea, I grab my bag, "Oh, right. I need to go now too!"

"Aish, what am I doing right now?" I mutter to myself. I must be insane! Nonetheless, I find myself secretly following Taehyung down the stark city street. I tell myself I should go home now, but my body won't listen. I need to know where he's going...

Wait, who's that girl? I freeze when I see a girl meeting with Taehyung. What are they doing? Is... Is this the reason he broke up with me? Because he found someone else?

I clenched my hand into a fist, unable to accept what I've just seen, but the next second, I loosen my fist.

"Y/N? What are you doing here?" I turn to see Jimin watching me curiously. Panicking, I snatch his arm and shove him behind a corner with me. Taehyung had thought he heard someone call his name and was looking at where I had been. Not seeing anyone, he walks away, thinking he heard wrong.

I let go of Jimin. "What are you doing here?"

"Can't you see? I'm skipping class," he scoffs. Typical of him, I should've known.

"By the way, I think I saw something interesting going on that I wasn't supposed to see," He smirks down at me like a fox does its prey before pouncing on it, knowing he has an advantage.

"You better not tell anyone what you saw today!" I snap, desperation dripping from my every word.

"I won't tell anyone...if you accept my condition," he responds, placing his palm on the white wall beside me, eyes inspecting me with an unknown intent.

"What kind of condition?" I ask wearily.

"It's simple, let's be a couple."
