In one of The Dark Triads bases on the 2nd level two individuals were standing a mere six feet apart. Staring at each other.
One of the individuals was wearing a tight fitting black suite with thin metal plates covering key parts of their body. The black suite was tight enough for one to make out the contours of their body. The person seemed to be male given their masculine build. They were Number 13 one of the Dark Triads death guards.
Number 13 was staring intensely at the young man in front of him. The young man was wearing a knee length white overcoat seemed to be made of cotton. This white overcoat could be seen all over this facility, it was woren by every researcher here; but this young man in front of him was far to young to be one he was most likely an assistant.
"Who are you?"
Number 13 chose to ask this question because he found this young man in front of him to be quite suspicious.
The the young man in question gazed at Number 13 in fear, he could feel the guards stern gaze on him. He stared at the guard for a second before replying nervously.
"I'm Professor Henry's assistant he asked me to fetch some equipment form the storage room."
When Number 13 heard this he found it a little suspicious. Professor Henry was one of the Triads brightest minds, he was a secretive man.
Nobody knew anything about him, most were oblivious to what the Professor even looked like. Even Doctor Gerald who was best known for his formulas called knew very little about the man.
The young man had answered his quesion and even gave an explanation for his actions, but Number 13 found all this to be to convenient, but he knew of a way to tell if the youth in front of him was saying the truth.
The young man had been staring at Number 13 this whole time, "He was been standing there quietly for a while know, what has he been thinking about?" the young man thought to himself as his gazed lingered on the guard.
"Can I go now?"
Number 13 was brought out of his thoughts by the young man's question. He looked at the young man for a second before answering.
"Very well you may go."
The young man looked relieved when he heard that. He thanked the guard before turning around to leave, but he suddenly froze in mid-movement.
Number 13 watched as the young man was leaving before asking a question that seemed to have froze him in place.
"Before you go do you mind showing me your keycard?"
The young man slowly turned his head around to gaze at the guard, before replying in a nervous tone.
"Why do you need to check my keycard?"
"It's simply a security measure sir."
"You see there are certain protocols we as the members of the Death Guard have to follow, said Number 13 as he started walking towards the young man in a slow fashion.
One could see the arrogance in his footsteps and pride in his voice. In most cases if a member of the Death Guards were to encounter this situation they would pry information out of you to see the truth or simply just kill you, but this was different.
...
Aiden gazed at Number 13 with a frightened look on his face, but on the inside he was simply surprised.
He was surprised that the guard was actually smarter than he thought. Aiden was aware of the death guards merciless and brutality but never pegged them for being smart, but he wasn't concerned about that.
"As long as I can act out the next part perfectly then there won't be anything to worry about. " He thought to himself.
Number 13 stopped walking when he was only six inches away from Aiden.
Aiden looked at Number 13 before talking answering.
"O-okay I'll show you the card."
Aiden nervously started searching his pockets to try and find the keycard, it took him awhile to find it because he was deliberately prolonging. He knew the Number 13 couldn't just kill him because of a contradiction in the orders given to the Death Guards . They could kill those they believed pose a possible threat even if they worked for the organization itself.
However they couldn't harm the interests of the organization in anyway. Meaning they couldn't harm any valued members of the organization unless they were directly ordered by the hight ranking officials.
Aiden may not be a valued member of the Triad or any member for that matter, but he has claimed to be the personal assistant of Professor Henry. Aiden thought it through very carefully when he picked this identity. He need it to be someone nobody knew personally, and couldn't identify.
There was only one person that could give him this identity. That was Professor Henry a man so secretive even the fellow members of his organization knew very little about him with the exception of the Triads upper echelon.
Aiden already knew from the beginning that his chances of talk his way out of this was very slim.
Before the appearance of the death guard when he was trying to navigate through this places complex structure, he was bothered by a different matter. That was even if he got to the first floor and reached the exit without any hiccup; how was he suppose to get past the guards. Since this was a secret base, there would obviously be some means to inform the guards about personal entering and exiting the facility.
If the Death Guard suddenly found him ouside without being informed about someone being given authorisation to leave the facility, they simply kill him and that's if he was lucky if not he would likely be tortured. Then they would most likely find out he was a experimental subject that was trying to escape.
So when this happened at first he was filled with panic but later as things transpired he saw it as an opportunity.
