Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium was the avenue for the Nationals. All teams arrived for the Nationals one day before the first day.
The first event on the schedule of the Nationals was the opening ceremony. Just before the opening ceremony, all the teams would be asked to assemble in a big hall, and then they would be called one by one for the introductions to the viewers.
Teiko and Tokiwadai were standing next to each other in the hall as they both were Tokyo prefecture representatives.
Aomine Daiki was extremely excited as this was his first tournament, and he was in awe as he looked around to see so many players and teams.
As Aomine looked around, he saw the Tokiwadai team who were standing next to them. They were the reigning champions and the favorites to win this year.
Aomine: 'They look strong; their center is as tall as Murasakibara.'
Aomine looked at the player with silver hair. He remembered the guy from Tokiwadai's games he had seen.
Aomine: 'Who would have thought that he is Satsuki's new neighbor, I should go and talk to him. No guy who plays basketball can be a bad guy.'
-----------------------------------------------------
Shun was also looking around; this was his first tournament, and the players and teams everywhere were a first for Shun.
As he was taking a look around, he felt a tap on his shoulder. He turned back and saw Aomine Daiki standing there in Teiko's uniform with a smile on his face.
Aomine: "You are Kageyama Shun, right. Satsuki told me that you are her new neighbor. My name is Aomine Daiki, Satsuki is my childhood friend."
Aomine held out his hand for a handshake.
Shun was stunned for a second, but he recovered quickly and shook the extended hand.
Shun: "Momoi-san has mentioned you quite a few times, she said that you dragged her out to play basketball so many times that she became worried that she would damage her skin in the sun."
Aomine jaw dropped, he wasn't expecting such a reply from Shun.
Aomine: 'That Satsuki, what has she been telling people about me.'
Shun: "She also told me that you don't like vegetables, always write things in katakana, and you are bad at studying (...)"
[A/N: It is bad (or lazy, not a common practice) to write everything in katakana in Japanese. I don't know why because I don't know the Japanese writing system.]
Aomine: "Stop, please stop."
Aomine felt like crying, Satsuki had ruined his reputation.
Aomine: 'I will take my revenge; I will catch a frog and put it on her face.'
Shun: "Hahaha, don't worry. She didn't mean anything bad by telling me those things. It is just that we needed a topic to talk, and you came up, so she ended up telling me those things to make the conversation funny."
Aomine: "Isn't that worse, dissing me just for the sake of a conversation."
Shun, who was trying his best not to laugh at Aomine, couldn't hold it anymore and laughed out loud.
Aomine: "Don't laugh!"
Shun: "Sorry, I am sorry. Give me a minute."
Shun said his apology between laughs.
Shun: "You already know my name, but let me introduce myself again. My name is Kageyama Shun, I am a first-year at Tokiwadai Middle School, and I play the position Small Forward."
Aomine also introduced himself again,
Aomine: "My name is Aomine Daiki, I am a first-year at Teiko Middle School, and I also play the position Small Forward."
Just as Aomine finished his re-introduction, Mibuchi came to tell them that they were going to court soon for the introductions.
Shun smiled one last time at Aomine and said,
Shun: "Till we meet again, Dai-chan."
Aomine again was at a loss of words as he saw Shun follow his teammate.
Aomine: 'I am going to kill Satsuki.'
-----------------------------------------------------------------
(Rewind time to the start of the conversation between Aomine and Shun.)
Nijimura (Teiko's Captain) was worried when he saw Aomine walk towards Tokiwadai. He knew that Aomine was a guy that meant well, but sometimes he could become a little hot-headed.
He decided to follow him to handle the situation if things got heated. As he started to move, he heard a voice,
???: "Captain, are you going to follow Aomine-kun."
The voice that came out of nowhere almost startled the life out of Nijimura.
Nijimura: "Waah, Kuroko! don't sneak up on me, you runt."
Kuroko: "I didn't sneak up on you. I was standing beside you the whole time."
Nijimura could only sigh at that, no matter how many times he had experienced the same thing, it didn't become easier.
Nijimura: "Yes, I am going to follow Aomine to make sure that he doesn't get into trouble. You come with me as well."
Kuroko nodded and followed his captain. He was also a little worried about Aomine.
When they reached within earshot of the conversation, they saw him talking to the first-year regular of Tokiwadai, as they listened, Nijimura's smile increased with the progression of the conversation even Kuroko was faintly smiling.
Nijimura: "Aomine writes his stuff in katakana, I knew he sucked at academics, but to suck this bad is pitful. I have found some good blackmail material."
When Aomine turned around, he saw Nijimura and Kuroko standing there, with a smirk on Nijimura's face and a faint smile on Kuroko's. He had a bad feeling when he that smirk.
Nijimura: "Aomine, I knew that you sucked at academics but to suck so bad that you write everything in katakana."
Aomine's heart dropped when he heard that,
Nijimura: "Aomine, if you skip cleaning duty after practice even once, I will tell this to every girl in the school. You understand what I am saying, right?"
Aomine gulped and nodded his head rapidly, while further increasing the intensity of things that he was going to do to Satsuki.
Aomine: 'Satsuki be ready to meet a whole army of frogs.'
Satsuki, who was checking the supplies, felt a chill go down her back.
Satsuki's intuition was shouting at her to be careful as something bad was going to happen in a few days.
