Chapter 5: The Flicker in the Dark

The ladies are struck in awe as they look at Belle, walking next to Jay.

"Who is she?" Primrose whispers.

"That's Belle. Jay's childhood friend. She flew here from LA. I heard that she's a fashion designer," Camille whispers back.

Chealsy and Stephanie nod their heads. They stop talking when Jay and Belle walk past them. Jay just looks at the ladies without even saying a word.

"Harry, I bet your room is still as messy as before!" Belle says as they ascend the stairs.

"That's why I am inviting you to clean it up!" Jay replies.

"Damn! I am not your servant. It's time to look for a girlfriend," she exclaims.

"I don't need 'coz you're here!" he casually says. She laughs while hitting his arm.

Primrose nearly sputters her drink when Jay catches her hand and puts his arm on her shoulders as they walk.

The ladies look at each other suspiciously.

"Whoa! Jay and Sophia are not official yet, but he's already cheating on her?!" Stephanie says in disbelief. "I am really thankful that I woke up from my fantasy earlier or else I might suffer as well!"

They agree as they follow Belle and Jay with their gaze.

"Yaaaaa! How disappointing!" Camille grumbles as she eats some jelly beans. The others dig in when she offers them a colorful jar.

"Spencer men are not known for being loyal--- keep that in mind!" Chealsy utters while crossing her arms.

"I think so. They are players. My friends told me that they are good at sugar- coating their words," Stephanie adds.

Primrose gasps. Camille furrows her forehead. Stephanie nods grimacing.

"How did you know that?" they whisper.

"Ei~ I live in a world where people gossip about others and finding each other's faults is part of their lives," Chealsy answers.

"But~ Founder is I think good at hiding his stench~" Stephanie comments.

"Yeah~ he was able to hide... Jason in the underworld," Primrose agrees.

"Underworld?!" Camille exclaims.

"He's like a demon, unleashed from the underworld. I've never seen him smile and I heard that he mocked his teacher and she cried in their class," Chealsy states. They gasp. Poor teacher.

I clear my throat. They all impulsively get up and shut their mouth as they look at me with guilt plastered on their faces.

"If I hear you talking ill about my family again, I will feed you to my hyenas," I say in a low and warning voice.

They all nod.

"Good! Anyway, where is Jason?" I ask as they look at each other.

"I haven't seen him!"

"Me, too~"

"Maybe, Sophia knows---"

"Sophia?" I ask.

"Ah... yeah... sometimes, they come home together!" Camille answers.

I just nod my head and go straight to his room.

Then, Sophia appears in the living room where the ladies are.

"Have you seen Jason?" she asks.

The ladies look at each other.

"Why does everyone keeps on looking for him?" Primrose asks.

"What?" Sophia replies.

"Aunty was looking for him, too," Stephanie says.

"I will invite him to a party," Sophia says.

"What party?" Chealsy and Stephanie ask. As legit party goers, anything related to partying and clubbing excites them.

"It's a department socialization party, and we are allowed to invite anyone," she explains.

Primrose crosses her legs.

"Then, are you saying that you wanna invite Jason? not Jay?" Primrose suspiciously asks.

"Jay is busy~" she answers casually.

"Busy? What exactly is he busy about?" Camille questions.

"Uh~ the right question is... who is he busy with?" Stephanie corrects.

"Eish! Whatever~" Sophia says before heading to Jason's room.

She is about to knock when she hears Jason and me yelling, so she steps back. Then, she meets Jay and Belle going downstairs.

She ignores them and goes straight to the back garden where the brothers are resting and working.

Mon is reading on a hammock under an old oak tree while Leo is busy writing something on his tablet in the gazebo in the middle of a shallow pond nearby.

She presumes that he is studying his patient's diagnosis since he is wearing his glasses.

"Hi~ can I join you?" Sophia asks.

"Sure!" Mon agrees while tapping the space beside him.

"Go to hell!" Leo grunts.

"Okay~" she whispers. Leo doesn't take his diagnosis lightly so he detests it when someone bothers him while he's working on it.

Mon gestures her to move to the rose garden about 10 meters away from where they are.

"What is it?" he asks when they are finally at the rose garden.

"Do you wanna join me tomorrow night? Our department is hosting a party and they would be delighted if you join us," she invites.

"Hmmm... what kind of party?"

"Socialization! Like a meet and greet kinda party~"

"Are there beautiful ladies there?"

"Yeah... but all below your standard!"

Mon laughs.

"Count me in~"

"Really? See you at 5."

"Jason, I warned you! If you hit once more, I will punish you!" I yell at him.

"Uh~ if I remember it very well, you said... if I hit another guy~ which I didn't do..."

"Don't use my words against me, Jason! Why did you hit her?"

"Ask her~"

"Goddamit! Stop fooling around! Her parents want to sue you for your misdemeanor."

"Interesting~ before they sue me, I would like to talk to them."

"That's not necessary~"

"It is! Coz I wanna tell them how their daughter nearly pushed her classmate near the waterfall!"

I am stunned by what he just said.

"What are you saying?"

"Hah! The famous Merideth didn't do her job well."

He teases. I grab a book on his table and throw it to him. He dodges as he laughs, mocking me.

"Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!" the ladies are screaming.

I run to the living room leaving Jason on his bed.

"What happened?" I ask.

We are all shocked to see a small python slithering in the living room.

"Oh my god!"

"Fuck!"

"Holy fucking shit!"

"How did this get here?"

"Why is there a snake in the mansion?"

The lords exclaim, looking more terrified than the ladies. They are even holding each other's hands.

"Don't worry ladies, we got this!" Sophia teases them.

"Have you seen, Gregory?" Jason asks.

"Who?"

"Your friend?"

"Gregor~ what?"

We ask as he approaches us. Then, he beams when he saw the python at the foot of the staircase.

He takes it and walks away. Then, he suddenly trips in front of the lords causing him to throw the snake to them.

Mon squeals as he climbs the railings of the staircase. Ron stumbles down and quickly crawls away. Leo and Ben hug each other, screaming as the snake slithers on their feet.

Then, Jason takes it and puts it in its cage.

"What the hell?!" Leo yells at Jason.

"What?" he asks with a triumphant grin on his face.

"Ei~ how disappointing!" the ladies say as they watch the lords calm down.

I let out a hearty laugh.
