Chapter 22

All eyes were on Yuki at the moment. Whether be it the elders, department heads, or the disciples, none of them were so much as blinking their eyes as if doing that would make them miss something precious.

"Work hard," Yuki says in a calm voice. She just says these two words which reverberate across everyone's ears.

"YES ANCESTOR" a unanimous response rumbles all across the sect. Yuki glances at the crowd for a small moment and turns back and goes to her seat, while everyone's eyes stay glued to her. She has some sort of charm that is drawing everyone's attention making them hard to look away. Following Yuki, Ling Jian also goes to her seat, but she gestures vice sect master before sitting in her seat.

Vice sect master nods his head and takes the podium. He looks at the disciples and says in a voice devoid of expression "Everyone, the gathering is dismissed" His voice which is filled with authority reaches everyone's ears pulling them out of their trance. The disciples who were looking in Yuki's direction a moment before all look at him and nod their heads. The next moment, they start vacating the courtyard even though they are curious about their extremely pretty ancestor and want to know about her. With reluctant faces, all of them move out of there.

"Leo, Lin, what do you think about our ancestor?" Shailene asks both of them as she walks. The trio is on its way to the dorm after leaving the courtyard.

"A goddess" both of them answer in a daze with their eyes closed.

"You two idiots, I was asking about our ancestor's abilities," Shailene glares at them with disgust and angrily rebukes them.

"I don't know about that" Lin answers not minding Shailene's glare at all.

"I also have no idea about it, but it doesn't matter. Our ancestor is a goddess and that's enough" Leo says with reverence. He also doesn't mind Shailene's glare, both of them have grown used to it over the years.

"Well said Leo" Lin praises him.

Shailene gets a bit annoyed by their answers but then she sighs and asks "Weren't both of you saying earlier, that our ancestor would be an old fossil or something?"

Both of them awkwardly laugh after hearing her, but then Lin retorts "But you also agreed to it, right?"

Shailene becomes tongue-tied as she wasn't expecting this reversal. She then hurriedly changes the topic.

"By the way, do you know our ancestor's name?"

"Now that you mention it, I don't," Leo says while holding her chin

"Ancestor never gave her name," Lin says

"Don't worry, we will know about it eventually"

"You are right" Leo agrees

No one with such authority, not to mention how beautiful Yuki is, can keep her name unknown. Yuki's name will eventually be known, it's only a matter of time.

The same discussions are played out in every corner of the sect. Yuki doesn't know but she has become the talk of the sect. Another thing that Yuki doesn't know is that unknowingly she has made a lot of fans and the number of her fans surpass those of the Ling Jian and the others.

Meanwhile, in a place 50 miles away from the sword god sect.

Kohima. The biggest city in the misty mountains. It was built a few centuries after the establishment of the sword god sect when a necessity for business and trade was felt close to the sect. And since then, it has only expanded. The city was built in a forest, its architecture is a mix of brick structures with tiled paths laid alongside green trees.

It is managed by a 20 member municipal council, all of whom have either some connection or are old disciples of the sword god sect. It can be said that Kohima is under the sect's protection. And as such, a lot of disciples from the sect can be seen shopping or buying materials in the city. It won't be an exaggeration to say that it's a city made just for the sect. Since there are customers, there are also traders and merchants who have flocked here from other places to do business.

The city is divided into districts, and one of the most bustling districts is the shopping district right at the center of Kohima. On any given day, it's jam-packed with people, but today it's the opposite. The shops are opened but there are no customers or even if there are, it's negligent compared to other days.

But one person, a man to be more accurate is walking towards one of the shops. He has short black hair, worn-out robes, and a very ordinary face. In other words, there is nothing special about him. He is the kind of person you'll find hard to remember even after meeting him multiple times. He is carrying no weapons. He reaches the shop and asks.

"Hey boss, can I ask you something?"

"Sure, why not." the shop keeper looks at the man and answers

"Is the city always like this?"

"No, it's just today" the shopkeeper answers

"Is today something special?" the man asks in a curious tone

"You are not from here, are you?" the shopkeeper instead of answering his query, asks a question in return.

"I am!" the man gets surprised "but how do you know?"

"If you were from here, you would know the reason." the shopkeeper says with a gloating smile.

"I am a traveler, I heard a lot about Kohima so I decided to visit it"

"The sword god sect is having a ceremony today and each one of their disciples is there in the sect. And so the city is pretty empty since a lot of visitors are from the sect" the shopkeeper explains to the man.

"Ohh! that's why"

"Visit this shop tomorrow and you'll see an entirely different scene," the shopkeeper says

"I will, thanks for telling me" the man smiles and then walks out of that shop.

The smile on his face fades as soon as he gets out on the street and is replaced by a sinister-looking face 'a ceremony, interesting. Looks like I have to go there and find more about it' His eyes turn completely black for a split second, but return to normal the next. No one notices it, as no one is paying attention to him. But if they did, they would have been terrified out of their mind.
