I grabbed a rock lying beside me, starting to hammer furiously at the bars with it. My hands were red, the skin on them starting to cut when it finally clattered open. The Angel wobbled up to his feet. I didn't wait to see if he could walk, I just turned on my heels and raced up the basement steps. Taking the stairs two at a time, I reached the door to Lilla's room. It had been left agar, I slammed through it to see an empty bed. The room was completely empty except a marking on the wall. it was a half circle with two lines going through it.
I punched the door in frustration, and slid down the wall, burying my face in my hands. Tears slid down my face.
A slight glow appeared, and slid down the wall next to me. I looked up at the Angel his face stricken with guilt.
"I'm sorry," His voice strained. "Was she your sister?"
"N-no I said between snuffles. "I'm just her babysitter but she felt like a sister to me." I paused.
He looked at the ground.
"She's not dead is she?" Worry in my eyes.
"I-i don't know."
We sat in silence for awhile. I contemplated whether or not to just run from it all, but I knew it wasn't that easy.
"What now?" I asked shakily.
"Now?" He paused. "We find the demon who got her. See if she is still alive, but don't get your hopes up."
His voice was soft and angelic, his features the same. His hair was light blonde and his skin was pale. When he looked at me his green eyes gleamed and sparkled. He was beautiful, and he's an angel. I would believe anything he said, at the drop of a hat, and that worried me.
I rose to my feet warily. "Where do we start?" I asked.
He looked at me. "We start by telling her father."
