Minho ♡ : I can't wait to see you tomorrow. I love you, Anela.
Anela bit her lips suppressing a huge smile from forming. Who would have thought after being single for almost her whole life, she finally found the perfect man for her. She then answered with a quick reply saying she can't wait to see him as well. She held back the 'I love you' as she doesn't want to make Minho think that she's that into him.
At some point, you have to make the guys crave for you, right?
"Who's that?" Hyenim nudged her silently giggling best friend. Well, this is a first. Anela doesn't usually have that kind of expression even when they were in high school.
"Secret," Anela grinned placing her phone down. Whoever she was texting, Hyenim thought, was someone important.
"Don't tell me you're finally dating someone?"
"Yep," Anela answered in a serious tone before breaking into another wide smile.
"What!?" Every eye landed on Hyenim who just silently bowed down in apology. She forgot how they're in the middle of some boring philosophy class. "So who's the guy? You better tell me!" Hyenim pinched her side making Anela push her while trying her best not to yelp in pain.
"Quit it!" Anela widened her eyes on her best friend, warning her.
"What?" Hyenim retaliated. Explaining how she needed to know the guy considering Anela as someone who's very picky when it comes to the topic of dating.
Anela Ahn who was always a beauty both sought after and envied.
Hyenim Nam had always been aware of how many men had tried to win the hands of her best friend. Promising her everything from a pure love to even unimaginable amount and countless material things but Anela had been firm on not dating anyone saying she had better things to do than to date someone.
Anela who had nothing growing up and just worked her ass off to get by. From studying hard to get scholarships to working on different parttime jobs to pay bills and put food on the table. Anela Ahn never had a chance to relax nor be a child and play around. The only thing she had help with was a free lodging courtesy of her distant uncle's small house. An uncle who was meant to support and help her but instead he was just mainly absent for what seemed to be her whole life.
There was a time where Hyenim asked about the said uncle but even Anela doesn't know much about him aside from the fact that he somehow got a complicated kind of job. She wouldn't be surprised if the said uncle turned out to be working for some mafia or gang.
Hyenim honestly thinks it would be easier for Anela to just pick one of the rich guys who had been chasing her. They would have provided her with anything she asks for. Money won't be a problem. But her best friend never even once thought of that as a solution to her problems. She wasn't even sure if Anela is just someone with such strong principles and values her dignity more than anyone else. Or she was just simply uninterested.
"So, who is it?" Hyenim asked for the nth time as they strode their way to the cafeteria to grab something to eat.
"You know the senior who's also working as one of the teacher's assistants?"
"Who? Minho Kim?" Hyenim turned to her in surprise. The image of Minho Kim flooded her mind.
Minho Kim is the very embodiment of what everyone refers to as an 'average guy'. His looks are nothing below or above average but if you ask Hyenim, she will put her below average with that messy nest-like hair and huge thick glasses. His wallet is not thick as well. His family background is nothing spectacular. His height is average. And she doesn't even have to try but she's sure that sex with that guy will bore you to sleep. For sure it's doomed with an endless missionary.
"Yep," Anela happily chirped.
Hyenim buried her face on her palm. Can someone please tell her that Anela Ahn, her beautiful, smart, hardworking best friend, is kidding?
"Are you fucking serious?" There was nothing but horror written all over her face. She wasn't even amused in the slightest. "Anela Ahn, you do realize that you can have the hottest guy in this whole effing campus and yet you decide that you are off better with some average joe?"
Heck, Anela Ahn could date the most sought-after bachelor in the whole country Jaewon Jung. Once upon a time, everyone in their old school thought that Anela and Jaewon were a thing. Anyone who saw how Jaewon treated Anela like she was some fragile glass figurine will end up thinking he was in love with her.
At some point, Anela needed to set the record straight declaring that the two of them are nothing but friends. They then fell apart in their senior year in high school. The two of them never talked again and no one knew why.
She asked Anela about it and the lady only answered with a shrug, "That's just how it is."
"Hey! Minho looks cute and he's nice!" Anela fought back. Oh no, she's serious. "And besides, I told you already. Million times. I don't want anyone that stands out."
"Don't come crying to me once you have a very boring cherry popping." Hyenim rolled her eyes.
Anela nudged her. "I am not dating him for sex. Besides, I feel like he will be okay. Sorry to disappoint you but I don't dream of having that whirlwind romance everyone is crazy about."
"So what do you want?" They have been friends for years and she can't still wrap her head on how Anela thinks.
"I just want something ordinary and simple but sincere. I don't need to be some female protagonist in whatever novel or manga you're reading."
Hyenim is sure, Anela preferred everything not just her ice cream to be vanilla.
"You're one boring bitch." Hyenim head locked the lady dragging her with her to the cafeteria.
"Shut up, Hyenim Nam."
They sat on their usual table when Anela received a text message. She pulled her phone out of her pocket, excited as she was expecting a message from Minho.
JJ: Meet me at the Student Council Room now.
Anela frowned debating if she will leave now or reply that she wanted to eat her lunch first.
Another text message came in.
JJ: I have food.
"Hyenim, sorry. I need to go somewhere. Here you can have my food." Anela quickly got up and left not giving Hyenim a chance to ask any questions.
Hyenim asking questions would be far way too dangerous.
Upon reaching the Student Council Office, Anela took a deep breathed. She pulled herself together after almost running her way there. It wasn't like she was in a hurry. It's more like she wanted it to be over with.
The instance, Anela opened the room, her arm was pulled and she found herself slammed against the wooden door. Her body was trapped between it and a familiar body.
"Do you really nee—," she wasn't able to finish what she was saying when her lips were swept into an intense kiss. Anela gasped a little in surprise which allowed him to slid his tongue inside her mouth. Soon, their tongues fought against each other—hungry, wanting.
Anela took a sharp breathed in as soon as their lips parted. With flushed cheeks, she groaned at the sensation his lips were leaving against her neck down to her shoulder.
"Wait," Anela gently pushed him away.
Jaewon Jung raked his hair. Eyes not leaving the disoriented lady in front of him. He gently brushed his thumb against her swollen lips. Ah, he wanted to kiss her more.
"Since when did you get back from China?" Anela wiggled her way out of his trap, striding towards the couch where she slumped herself.
"I just got back," Jaewon answered taking the space next to the lady who's busy looking at the food he brought with him. He could have just went straight home and slept but it has been two weeks since he last saw her and he's on the end of his wits.
Sometimes he hated the fact that it was only him who misses her.
Jaewon leaned forward to shower her with small kisses from her temple down to her cheeks, her jawline, her smooth neck. Anela turned to him, pushing him a little. Subtly telling him to stop.
"I am dating someone." Anela nonchalantly said. She took a generous bite from the chicken. Jaewon didn't even act surprised. He knew. Of course, he knew every little thing about her.
"Who's the lucky guy?" Jaewon asked, fingers playing with her locks.
"I don't know if you know him. He's one of the T.A."
"Hmm, let me guess?" He paused, feigning interest. "Minho Kim?"
Anela turned to him, genuinely surprised. "Wow, amazing! How did you know?"
"Well, he looks like someone you'll like." Anela frowned at his answer. Jaewon just smiled at her.
"Someone I'll like? So what do I like?"
"Someone who's not me." Jaewon chuckled.
"Yeah, you're right. You're someone I won't date," Anela laughed. She then focused on the food before her, failing to see the stare that Jaewon Jung gave her.
She failed to see his eyes that were filled with raw desires, anger, and maddening jealousy.
How long had they been doing that charade? He played her game and somehow he ended at where they're now. He was happy for a moment but he was never contented. It was like trying to put water in a bottomless pot. Nothing about Anela Ahn would be enough for him unless she says it from her very mouth that she's nothing but his.
But then all of that is about to go to waste because she finally found someone she wanted to date.
Jaewon Jung laughed inwardly.
Oh, he was everything but generous.
For someone who always had everything even the whole world on the palm of his hand can he be any greedier?
Ah, Anela Ahn makes him realize that somehow he can still feel greedy.
He reached for one can of soda, opening it. Lifting it, he offered a toss. "Congratulations on your new relationship, Anela." Jaewon pulled his best smile. "On your first boyfriend."
Anela grabbed her can of soda and bumped it lightly with Jaewon's. "Thank you, Jaewon. You're the best!" She giggled. What does he need to do to keep that smile, those laughs for himself alone?
Jaewon took a swig from the drink. Anela Ahn had made it clear from the very beginning that she wanted nothing from him but friendship. She explained how she would never date him because she wanted someone average. Someone who doesn't attract attention. someone who blends well in the background. That she never dreamt of the shining prince but she hoped for a forgettable character in her story.
And Jaewon Jung isn't that someone.
For one, he was an heir to a huge conglomerate. His face could put the famous idols and actors to shame. His body was honed to perfection. He was smart, stylish, attractive, and basically the pinnacle of every woman's dream man.
Well, every woman except for Anela Ahn.
It took him four years to be where they were. Neither friends nor lovers. He doesn't want to call their relationship as fuck buddies. He doesn't want what they have to sound cheap. After all, it wasn't simply fucking, it was an incredibly intimate relationship. Many people don't understand the difference between fuck, sex, and making love. But if only they knew the fire that burns so fiercely between him and Anela then they will finally understand what making love is.
Jaewon smiled to himself. This will be where everything he planted will be tested. He then moved closer to Anela, leaning his head on her shoulder.
He'll let her date. Sure, why not? He won't stop her because at the end of the day she'll come back running to him and when that day comes he'll welcome her with open arms.
"How about we celebrate in a hotel later?"
"I don't think I should do that? I am in a relationship after all. We just got together yesterday."
Jaewon pulled away. He then gently made Anela look at him. Leaning, he pressed his forehead against hers. "The more it's okay to do it. You just got together and no one will find out anyway." His tone was low and inviting. This must be how the devil sounds when he was tempting someone to sin. Anela narrowed her eyes on him.
"Come on, AA." Jaewon cooed. "We have been seeing each other for over a year and no one found out, right?"
Anela sometimes can't imagine that they started that dirty little relationship that they had for over a year already. She could not even remember how they got to that point. Where did everything start? She pushed all her thoughts away, not wanting to really dissect what they have. It's better to leave it as it is than to start overthinking about it.
"Fine," Anela rolled her eyes pulling away from the latter. "This is the last time, okay?"
"Sure, sure," Jaewon chuckled. Anela glared at him. "But I will still be willing to warm your nights if you ever need me." He winked making the lady roll her eyes.
"Whatever."
The last time, Jaewon thought. He smiled knowing it will never be their last.
After all, Anela Ahn is his and she will always be his.
