after all of us got tested, one new instructor came and took the group with no magic affinity with him but before that happend our first instructor held a speech.
/So you will have noticed that you where separated in 3 groups, the one with no magic affinity the one with a slight affinity and the one with a strong. The group with a slight affinity, can choose which group they want to join, if you join the no affinity group you will learn a specialization like pilot, officer, panzer driver, monster tamer or a like, but if you join the other group you can become a mage and later on you can choose a specialization but beware if you choose this route you will have almost no freetime because you need to train your magic sense and skill but not only that when you learn magic your body will send signals to your surrounding that will make you a preferred target for monsters other mages and soldiers.
I will need your answer on which group you want to join, in the next 3 days choose wisely.
any questions left? when yes lift your hand./
in the background I could see a few hands in the air even Elm had a question and after a while I found something I wanted to ask.
/Yes you/ he said and pointed at Elm
/can you be an officer even when you are a mage ?/
/Yes you can/
after that he pointed at the girl in the green group (slight affinity group)
/what will we in the green group do in the next 3 days?/
/you will get that information later on but you will probably join both groups for a few hours every day till the end of the 3 days after that you join one of the groups/
he pointed at me,
/what is your question?/
/I heard that everyone can use magic but why are we separated like that?/
/ahh good question, yes everyone can use magic but the grey group (no affinity group) will need at least 1 year intensive training to get to the level to learn magic, in comparison the green group will need 3 months and the blue group will need 2 weeks, the military doesn't want to spend the resources to let you learn how to use magic and it doesn't even need so many mages and in some cases it can even be bad. but you can learn magic in your freetime if you want the library is open for everyone to use, most people I know who don't have a good affinity learn a few very weak spells for emergencies./
after our instructor looked around and found no one who had a question left he ordered the other instructors behind us to leave with the group they where assigned to.
Our instructor was that woman behind the desk, after the other two groups left she went in the direction of one of the barracks. behind her where our group that consists of me ,Elm and the other two elven.
/hey Elm where did you learn magic?/ asked I
/from my Mum she was healer in our village/ he answered
/she was?/ I asked
/yes after a mana disease she had before my birth, the doctor said she can't use her magic ever again/
/but how did you learn it then?/
/she couldn't show me her magic but she showed me how I can do it and my sister tried me to help, she's a lot better than I am/ he said with a smile.
We stopped, in front of us is an enormous grey building that would be our home for the next few month's. In front of it was a line of people waiting for their uniforms, after we joined the line we got our clothes, they are mud green uniforms with an army pattern, on the left arm was my name stitched on a nametag with a blue dot on the right of it and underneath was a the number 78.
/the numbers stand for the bed you have, after you enter, you search for your bed store your luggage and make yourself ready to go to bed you have 5 minutes after that the lights are turned off and If i see one of you run now,
or still be not finished after the time limit,
he gets his ass whooped/
after that you could hear a quiet /yes please/ in the crowd in front of me.
a while later I found my bed and stored my luggage, to my suprise Elm and the other two seemed to be sleeping in the same room only that elven girl isn't here, probably in the female part of the barracks. I wanted to talk with the other two of our group but sadly the lights went off shortly before i could ask them something.
