Conquer Your Fears

Alexi was waiting inside the living room. The day finally shifted into another.

He sighed in relief, "It is another beautiful morning for me!!" he then glanced at the wall clock that featured a world map at its center. The carefully curated wall clock was an attractive and perfect display for any living room; it added a rusty classic yet elegant touch to the home décor.

"Wow. I cannot believe that I am the one waiting again," he whined in disappointment.

His right foot was tapping the floor. He was waiting patiently. The sounds of tick-tocks from the wall clock echoed inside the room. It was only Alexi who was sitting on the sofa. The room was lavishly designed yet too bad it was only him who could enjoy the experience.

The room was too great that was suffocating for Alexi.

"We are here!!" Evelina and Alexander exclaimed in unison

Alexi was staring at the ceiling, waiting for a pinnacle of miracle to show up before him.

"Hahahaha… thank you for letting me wait for you. I have been waiting for hours!" he gave them bombardments of complaints.

He ambled towards Evelina and forwarded his head right beside her ear, "So, what made you late for the training?" his voice was lowered yet it was enough for Alexander to hear and comprehend their conversation clearly.

Alexander grabbed his collar, pulling him beside him, "I suggest you refrain from babbling gobbledygook. You are the one who is corrupting her mind and I will not allow that,"

He glanced at Evelina, gently grasped her soft and smooth hands, "Dear, are you alright?"

"I am fine and you do not need to fret," she assured him. She then grabbed his hands in return.

"I am serious, dear. Do you feel pain in your waist?"

She shook her head, implying disagreement, "Not at all. I can even show you how to split,"

Hearing her answer, made him even more worried

"There is no need for that, dear," He condemned her, not wanting her to experience pain.

She raised her eyebrows, "Why are you so worried?" she asked, curious about his sudden wariness.

"I just want you to be alright," he patted her head

"She moved his hand away from her head as soon as he patted her head, "I dare you not to do that," her eyes glared at him

"Why is it, dear?"

"It is so bothering. I am not a dog. You do not need to pat my head like that,"

He chortled softly, "Why do you say so? I am extremely fond of dogs. It only means that I care for you,"

She sighed, "I am already a grown-up lady. Why are you treating me like a child?"

He stroked his chin, as his eyes glanced at the ceiling, "Hmmm… probably because I want to build a family with you," he smiled as his eyes landed on her

"That is too early for that,"

"Well, it is very early for you because you are still a mortal,"

"You don't understand, Alexander,"

"What do you mean?"

"Alexander…. Let us not talk about it for now,"

"Oh… alright then,"

"I hope you can understand,"

He then realized that today is her training.

Alexi cleared his throat, "Are you two done with your conversation?"

"…" Evelina and Alexander remained silent

"I take that as a yes,"

"So, Evelina, I would like you to come with me," Alexi instructed

"Alright," she paused, "May I ask where are we going?"

"I don't know what it is called, but I consider it as a training room,"

Evelina did not ask questions any further. She had no time to dwell in an insignificant matter. After all, there was no time for it.

They were currently heading towards the elevator.

"Where are we heading?" Evelina asked

Alexi glanced at her, "To the training chamber," he left his utterance with a tacky smile

They were now inside the elevator. As soon as they were able to accommodate the elevator, the door of the elevator automatically closed in silence.

A few moments later,

They now have successfully arrived at the scene. The scene before them was quite haunted and giving anyone a cringe. The floors depicted a live wallpaper of gradually cracking glass floors in which there were forests beneath them. It was like they were in an actual setup, cranking cautiousness and attentiveness of attitude.

The ceiling was revealing the sky that was the bluest of sky blue and with clouds that were moving slowly like the rhythm of classical music. The walls in the four corners of the room unveiled a scene of the outside world—houses, skyscrapers, and many more.

Alexander was not surprised at all. He was neither afraid of heights nor floor glasses cracking beneath him. He was trained to overcome his fear so that he could conquer any raging war.

Evelina then immediately ran as fast as she could towards Alexander and grabbed his arms tightly. Aside from the subject, Math, she also feared heights the most. She did not catch a glimpse of the floor beneath her. She covered her eyes with his shoulders.

Alexi was "Evelina!! Why are you scared? It is not even the real thing! It is clearly far from it!

"I still have not yet overcome this fear!"

Alexi twitched his eyebrows, "But you were able to overcome it that time we jumped in the manhole,"

"I had no choice at that time, Alexi," she said as she covered her face on Alexander's back.

Alexi placed his right hand on his forehead, implying frustration. He exhaled deeply, "Then tell me, how are we supposed to begin the training?"

All of a sudden, Alexander made Evelina loosen her grip on him. He grabbed her hand that was gripping his back tightly and directed her in front of him.

He grasped her soft hands and then grabbed both of her shoulders, "I have to desensitize you. You have to gradually face your fear. Remember, if we are not thereby your side, how would you be able to survive?"

She scowled, revealing her innocent and delectable face.

She nodded in agreement, "Alright then, I would not let your efforts be in vain. I will never disappoint you guys," she said with a smile, her utterance was left with a serious tone

Alexander sighed in relief, "That is great to hear from you,"

He led her as she began to open her eyes, holding her hands tightly. He felt that her hands stiffen and have turned cold, "It is alright. I also experienced it. I was afraid of riding a helicopter and using a parachute. I also feared swimming in the depths of the sea. However, I kept on moving forward and I learned how to overcome it,"

Hearing his answer, Evelina was taken aback of him. She was put into a standstill.

"Oh. So, you also used to have fears?" she looked up to him as she asked

He nodded in agreement, "I would answer a yes for that. I really do admit that I also have fears. Not everyone is perfect. There is always someone who is greater and lesser than you,"

"Why do you want to overcome your fears?" she asked, inquisitive of his answer

"HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!" Alexi gave a laugh and then resumed, "Do you know what you are talking about? The answer is already obvious! Why would Alexander do anything just to overcome his fears?" Alexi barged in to their conversation, he finally spoke his words

"Well, you know… each person has a different perspective of why they urge to overcome their fears,"

"And? How about you? Why did you do that?"

"Because I do not want to become a coward, not being able to save my country and bringing honor to us all is such a waste," he spoke with sincerity and truthfulness under his tone.

"He is not doing this just to brag his achievements and skills, it was because he wants to improve himself to become a better person and that is to help humanity and save many lives," Alexi explained and glanced at Evelina

"Wow… I can't believe that you are so formidable and brilliant,"

Hearing her response, Alexander smiled widely, "Are you willing to defeat your fear for the reason that significant purpose?" he asked

"Well… Isn't it obvious? With my reaction, you could comprehend that I am giving it a green signal,"

Alexi and Alexander both sighed in relief.

"Evelina… I and your husband, Alexander, are going to watch you from that corner,"

"What are you going to do then?"

"We are observing your reaction,"

"What reaction? Why would you guys do that? I dare you not to think of any dirty thoughts when you two are looking at me!"

"What are you saying? I would never do that! Do not erroneously accuse me of a perverted fool!"

"I won't let that happen to him, dear. I will certainly remove his eyes and brain out," Alexander glared at him

"I would never do that, only your husband would dare to think of steamy thoughts of you!"

"…" Evelina was left speechless.
