Three years back

This book is dedicated to my two closest friends.

I wake up in extreme pain, and since thus far I am unaware of my surroundings. I look around to try and get a sense of what is going on. Jay has been carrying me for quite sometime now, for the few moments that I've been awake I've been hearing the voices around me being slurred into muffled sounds. This is bad, just a few hours ago, I was at the top of my game. Now I am injured, on top of that I failed the mission.

Jays wings are the only thing close to comfort I have now. I try and take control of my senses, but to no avail. I can't barely see, I can't barely hear, I just can feel the pain in my body. I try and voice my thoughts, but it just came out as some unholy whale noises. I can feel the warmth of Jay fade-away as he puts me down.

I can barely hear him, his words mix around in my head for awhile before I say anything else.

"Princess....ok....you...succeed...."

My brain decided that he said something like,"princess are you okay? The mission was a success." Those words gave ease to my mind as I pass out for a second I awake in home bases recovery ward, I hear Jays footsteps outside the room I think he's been pacing back and forth. I wonder if he has worn the floor down at all.

"Hey princess, how are you doing? You had a pretty bad tumble out there today."

This is Leo's voice... "I told you to stop calling me princess!" I take a deep dramatic breath, and then I start coughing like a fool.

"Jay?" Leo yells through the door as Jay bursts in like a lunatic,"How is she?!?!"

"She has sprained her left ankle, dislocated her right shoulder, and her right hip. Her bones are mostly fine, she has a few fractures in her hand. Take a week and a half, two weeks tops. And all of her cuts are more than likely going to scar due to the deepness." Well, not as bad as I thought.

"I'm not invincible, but I am pretty damn close aren't I?" Jay and Leo look at me with some strange look in their eyes. "Don't push your luck, Rose." Jay says after an eternity of silence.

I wonder how bad it actually is, "Hey Leo? How bad is it really?" He turns away from his equipment for a moment, pauses. Refusing to make eye contact," It's only as bad as you choose to be."

Me being the dramatic person I am, I turn to Jay, "imma slap you." Jay moves close to my face," Why is that princess?"

"For calling me princess, I don't like that name. Besides, I am no princess." Leo coming to my defense," Jay would you please get out? Rose needs some rest, okay? She's got some pretty bad injuries, and she's gonna be on some drugs unconscious for the next week or so. The reason behind that is because she doesn't need to be punching people."

"Why would she be punching me? I'm innocent!" Leo stares Jay down,"Out, Jay."

"Okay, okay! I'm going..."
