Chapter 20 : User Interface (part 1)

The new Physical Allgods would arrive soon and the peace of the village was bound to change.

Before everybody in the village had been turned and then taught to condense by his father, some measures had to be put in place.

For example, how could a normal human survive the touch of a Physical Allgod?

An Allgod was a being at the peak of the Allverse. Their power wasn't something to laugh at.

Thus, Drake was worried that some accidents may happen. He didn't want to see an excited hunter who wanted to embrace his wife end his excitation in tragedy because he had used too much strength when he held her.

Some measures had to be taken to protect their loved ones.

"What do you think, System? What can be done?"

[Equip the villagers with a limited version of the system. They will have a collar that looks the same as yours. You can choose what authority to give them as well as the powers that they can wield. For example, for now, you can choose that the unturned ones can have an Allgod level protection and the turned ones a Mortal Restriction. The former will be invulnerable to any threat under and at Allgod level and the latter will always display the strength of a mortal and the strength of an Allgod should they choose to enter Battle Mode.]

"Allright, we'll do as you say. Equip every villager with a System Collar and give them their powers and restrictions accordingly. Make it invisible and make sure they can't find out about its existence." Drake said.

[I'll need the Empyrean Corpse for energy.]

"You know, you don't have to ask that anymore. Use the energy as you see fit in the future." Drake said.

Instantly, every one of the 128 villagers received a System Collar that they couldn't control or see, but it served as the first wall of protection against themselves.

"I want to isolate this village further, how can I do that?" Drake asked.

[With my help, you can cast a barrier in a predetermined radius around the village and only the villagers and other Allgods will be able to enter and leave. Others will need your permission if they want to enter.]

"Allright, cast the barrier at least 5 kilometrs around the village."

[Understood!]

The turning of the entire village happened without any problems. It took just a few days.

The younger ones proved to be a handful when it was time to teach them to condense. They were too overly excited that they only wanted to play in their gigantic bodies rather than learn how to condense. Some could understand the concept, while others were clueless because of their young age.

Drake then intervened by asking the system to force the condensation.

Over the few days that Drake was alone in his room, he had a lengthy conversation with the system.

For example, he wanted to give the power of flight to the villagers.

The system gave him a simple answer : the collars could levitate the bodies according to the users thoughts.

Drake told the system to add the flight ability to every collar, his included.

As Drake remembered the computer screens of earth, he came up with the idea of having a window that only he could see that printed information about himself or anything else he wanted to know instead of waiting for the mechanical voice of the system to tell him everything.

As he thought of the infinite possibilities such an idea could sprout, he delved further into his mind thinking of what he could make the system do.

What were the All-purpose System's limits anyway?

It was a thought that had lingered in his mind for a long time. Now he could test his ideas without restraint.

"System, you do have my memories, don't you?" Drake asked.

[Yes. I saw them when my previous artifact spirit had me steal them from you.]

He felt a bit sour at having his memories stolen by the artifact spirit, but it had already happened , there was no need to cry over it. He said, "Good. then you should know how a computer works. I want you to turn this empty window into a real computer, a medium for your powers. I need to be able to use your powers without having to ask you every time. I need to only be able to type a command, a program if you will, to get the desired effect. For more complicated things, of course i will ask for your help."

[I understand...but rather than me doing it, it should be you. Just consider the window as an Integrated Development Environment (IDE). Just write what you wish for your operating system to look like, and I'll make it happen.]

The suggestion wasn't that unwelcome. In fact, Drake was satisfied with the system. As drake concentrated, several lines started appearing on the window. Another window that showed the result of his program had appeared above the first one and you could see some kind of user interface taking shape.
