A Loud Slap

Li Weiyin ignored Auntie Hui's shouts, boarded a taxi, and laughed in self-ridicule.

Perhaps, in everyone's eyes, she was a person with no affection that was born cold-blooded.

By the time that Li Weiyin arrived at the hospital, Li Jinzong had already been transferred out of ICU. However, he had not awoken yet, and Fang Meixian and Li Weixin were having breakfast.

As soon as she saw Li Weiyin, Fang Meixian said in surprise, "You're back. Let's meet with Mrs. Xu this afternoon."

The woman's tired face instantly glowed. This was probably the first time that Li Weiyin saw her mother look forward to her return.

"Mom, I have something to ask you. Let's speak outside." As Li Weiyin turned slightly, she saw Li Weixin putting down her chopsticks to stand up, and snapped, "You, sit down. Dad needs someone to watch him."

"Why are you so fierce to your sister?" Fang Meixian wasn't pleased.

But, Li Weixin looked at Li Weiyin in a daze and obediently sat back down.

"If you don't want to end up on the streets with her, I'll wait for you outside," Li Weiyin said patiently.

She then turned and headed to a quiet corner of the hospital. It appeared to be a garden that patients used when they needed to go for a stroll. As it was really early in the morning, there was no one around.

"If you have something to say, then say it quickly. Your sister hasn't finished her breakfast yet," Fang Meixian said angrily.

"Did you really give birth to me?" Li Weiyin's voice was colder than the morning dew.

"Are you trying to say that I'm biased again? Li Weiyin, you are already 22. When will you grow up?" Fang Meixian scolded. "Your sister is younger than you. Which family doesn't take care of their younger child more? Before your sister was born, I took care of you wholeheartedly, and after she was born, I did not neglect you. Besides, she's always received less than you..."

"I simply want to ask you whether you gave birth to me?" Li Weiyin had no patience for Fang Meixian's reasoning.

"Of course. This is a hospital. If you don't believe me, we can do a DNA test!" Fang Meixian was extremely annoyed by her daughter's attitude, so she did not look pleased.

"Then why did you lie. Why did you deny that I'm your daughter?" Li Weiyin asked.

Fang Meixian's eyes immediately flashed with guilt. But, she did not want to lose her pride in front of her daughter, so she used her position as an elder and said, "You are my daughter; I can acknowledge or deny that as I please. What about you? How could you date someone behind our backs? Aren't you afraid that someone will scam you of your money and body? Do your father and I mean anything to you? Your father hasn't woken up, yet I haven't seen you show any concern. As soon as you got back, all you've cared about is your lovey-dovey nonsense. Has your conscience been fed to the dogs?"

Turning off the voice recorder on her phone, Li Weiyin started walking away. But, Fang Meixian held her back, "Where are you going?"

"To get the 300 million that you need," Li Weiyin looked at Fang Meixian coldly and pulled her arm away.

As soon as she returned to the hospital room, Li Weiyin wanted to ask the attending doctor about her father's condition. That was when she spotted a few nurses scolding Li Weixin, "How have you been watching the patient? His drip almost ran out, yet you didn't even call for a nurse. If we didn't happen to check this room, the patient may have been transferred back to ICU just as he was released."

"Sorry, my sister and my mother went out for a while and I was worried they got into an argument. I thought my father still had a lot of liquid in his drip so I popped out to look for them..."

Before Li Weixin finished speaking, someone pulled on her arm, she turned around, and Li Weiyin greeted her with a slap.

The loud slap shocked all the nurses present.
