Seeing that Xiao Jing was frozen on the spot, Lin Qi gestured towards her, and said, "We're all guys. There's nothing to be embarrassed about. Just get into the water like this."
And that was how Xiao Jing was forcibly dragged out of the dormitory building.
There was a natural lake outside camp, and the sun rays were scattered upon its surface. As a light breeze passed through, the surface of the lake would shimmer.
Lin Qin removed his clothes and started stretching at the side of the lake, warming up before entering the lake.
Xiao Jing stood awkwardly at one side, wondering what kind of excuses she could come up with.
"Why are you just standing there in a daze? You have to stretch. Otherwise, you will be prone to cramps later," Lin Qi shouted, his shouts bringing Xiao Jing back to reality.
Xiao Jing moved her limbs stiffly, and cried out, "I hurt my arm during training yesterday, so I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to go in the water today. Let's do this some other day." She revealed the bandages on her arm to prove that she did have a bleeding wound.
"That's alright. You may not be able to swim, but you can learn how to hold your breath." Lin Qi stopped his stretching exercises, and walked up to Xiao Jing, attempting to take her clothes off.
Xiao Jing pushed him away as if she had just seen a ghost. Not knowing whether to laugh or cry, she straightened her clothes and asked, "Why are you taking my clothes off?"
"To decrease resistance, it's better that you don't wear any clothes. We're all men here, anyway. There's no reason to be shy." Li Qi replied with a frown.
Xiao Jing walked awkwardly towards the lake and tested the temperature of the water. "What does holding breath have to do with resistance?"
Lin Qi felt that what she said did make sense, so he nodded agreeably. "What you said makes sense. How about this? I'll teach you how to float in the water first."
With a splash, Lin Qin dove right into the water. Moving his hands and legs, he floated in the water with no difficulty. "You should come in and get used to the water," he said warmly.
From the edge of the lake, Xiao Jing carefully sat down. The depth of the water was only about a meter and reached her waist.
"Don't be afraid, come over here," Lin Qi extended his right hand to her.
There was a deep frown on Xiao Jing's face. The waters were a little choppy, making it difficult for her to move forward.
Lin Qi could not wait any longer. He swam up to Xiao Jing, and held her waist, intending to bring her towards the center of the lake.
Xiao Jing flinched at the touch, and hit his hand away out of reflex, before swiftly twisting his wrist.
"Ow," Lin Qi's face darkened. It felt as if his wrist bone had been broken. "Stop that, it's breaking," he said with brows burrowed.
Xiao Jing recovered her senses and quickly released her grip on his wrist. "I don't like being touched by other people. Is your hand alright?" she asked apologetically.
Holding his wrist with his other hand, Lin Qi smiled. "It's a good thing that I'm hardy. If I had been an average person, my wrist would have been broken or fractured. Alright then, let's stay where we are. This spot is fine. Try holding your breath underwater."
Xiao Jing inhaled deeply, then tried to hold her breath as she went underneath the surface of the water.
One second…
"Hu, hu, hu." It had merely been a second, and Xiao Jing already couldn't stand being underwater and had climbed out of it.
Xiao Jing coughed non-stop as she pinched her nose.
"You will be eliminated in no time if that's how you're going to perform. The special forces are all-rounders. We need to be good at everything."
Xiao Jing cocked her head to let the water in her ear flow out as she replied wryly, "Let me try again."
"Don't be afraid, I'm here for you," Lin Qi patted her lightly on her shoulder. Then pinching his nose, he said to her, "Do the same thing as me."
Xiao Jing entered the water once again. The world under the water surface seemed to be shrouded by a magnifying glass. Everything was infinitely magnified. Her heart and lungs were in pain, and water was getting stuck in her ears. She wanted to get out of the water.
Lin Qi looked at her with a smile on his face. A strand of bubbles escaped from his mouth as he told her to "hang in there for a little longer."
Feeling a little dizzy, Xiao Jing shook her head, and a huge water bubble came out of her mouth. Unable to catch her breath, she passed out with a roll of her eyes.
Lin Qi frantically pulled Xiao Jing out of the water and tapped her pale face in disbelief. "Xiao Jing? Second Lieutenant Xiao Jing? Don't scare me."
There was no response. Xiao Jing was motionless like a dead shrimp.
"What should I do? What should I do? Ah, that's right. Mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. CPR!"
