In a study room, full of various documents in shelves, two people or rather two women were discussing in a serious tone .
The first woman was a slender woman with a prominent bust and long wavy brown hair that reached her shoulder wearing a one-piece white robe. Her height and youthful appearance was seriously a sight to behold.
Facing her was a woman who could only be considered as a sexy amazon. A lean build, a height that would make most men blush in shame as well as a pair of breasts that seemed to defy all laws of physics. Her most distinctive features were without a doubt her long brown hair that reached her knees and her doctor blouse.
Unable to stand the silence, the first woman asked,
"Yuko, be frank with me. What is your diagnostic?"
Yuko Sagiri sighed a little before giving a look to her old-time friend whose face seemed to still be unblemished despite the years.
"I have news about the current state of your nephew. A good and a slightly bad one. Which one do you want to hear first?"
Mamako gritted her teeth before saying, "Begin with the good one."
"Ok, Well, the good news is that physically speaking even though his body is still a little weak, he has no problem. This is basically a miracle since I was pretty sure that he would never wake up."
Mamako heaved a sigh of relief before asking a silent question with her eyes. Yuko, understanding what she means continued
"For the bad news, well, it seems like he suffered from selective amnesia."
"Selective amnesia?"
"I did some exams, but from what I understand, he does remember some information about you and Shuka as well as Saeko. But aside from that, he doesn't seem to know more than your names. All information about his identity, his family, his past, even his name. Everything is gone. Despite that, he still keeps the capacity of a normal 13 years old boy. This is truly fascinating."
Toward the end of her explanation,
"Do you think he can recover his memories?"
Yuko shook her head in denial, "That I do not know. This amnesia should have been caused by being the witness of his parents death as well as nearly dying. He should be repressing the memory of this night deep in his brain because he doesn't want to remember. Nothing good would come out of forcing him."
Silence once again fell in the room. Truth be told, Mamako didn't really have a clear picture of Akira's personality prior to what recently happened. He was different from Shuka. From what she remembered he wasn't a bad kid. He just seemed empty. Still, it didn't matter.
'Now, he is my son. I swore to my sister and brother in law to take care of their children should anything happen to them. I will not fail them.'
Gathering her thoughts she let out a kind smile as she said,
"You really have my gratitude. I know that you guys must be really busy lately. I heard that there was another vague? How many victims?"
Yuko let out a bleak smile at this question
"The situation is bad. The new gates are different from the previous ones from all those years ago. At least back then, the creatures coming out were sapien and could be reasoned with. This time only monsters are coming out. At least Paradise isn't shy about giving help so there's that."
As she said that she gave a look to Mamako and said, "The situation could take a turn for the better if a hunter of your level came back. I know you still grieve for the death of your son. But the hero of the holy sword shouldn't stand back in such a situation. At the very least, you should find a new inheritor for the sword of your son."
Mamako stayed silent as she looked at a portrait pinned on the wall. On it, a young boy with hair of similar color as her own was standing with a blue sword on his hip. Her eyes became a little moist as she said with difficulty. "Masato wasn't the best son, and we had many problems in our family. Still, knowing how he died, I will not go back to parasite any time soon."
Yuko wanted to insist a little before finally giving up. Her team, Black label may be a renowned team that fought with their life on the line, but that didn't mean that she could force all the earthlings to do the same. Even more when the person in question was someone who gave more than anyone else in the past.
