Chance Part One

I awoke facing up towards the ceiling. Blaring my phone starts to play an annoying alarm sound. Rolling over on my side I quickly stop it. Reading the time off my phone's locked screen it is 6:30 AM. Inhaling deeply I rolled back over. Letting my body wake up, I still feel it. The pure happiness I felt from that dream. Replaying the dream in my head, I revel in bliss I felt. Yes suddenly, I realized I couldn't clearly remember what his face look like. Nor even his name. "Though I don't think it was ever said." I thought to myself.

I tried writing it off as just another dream. Some fantasy I want to live but can't. Yet I have had several dreams like this one. Frustratingly enough I can never recall him. Relishing the happiness, I start my morning. Turning on my lamp next to my bed I had towards the bathroom. Showering and let my mind wander. Living in Seattle was a more difficult choice. As I moved here right after graduating high school to attend college. Coming from a rural town I had to adjust to living on my own and living in the city. Having done well in high school I got a scholarship from a university in Seattle. Getting my degree I promptly got a well-paying job. All to appease my worrying parents. Having landed a job at a rather big wholesaler company, I started working in the sales department. Having worked here for five years, I've grown accustomed to this daily life. Finishing my shower, I quickly dry myself. I brush my teeth and leave the bathroom. Walking towards my closet I start dressing myself. I put on a simple black bra with matching underwear. Dressing in monotone colors, I put on a pencil suit jacket. Summer has passed and it is well into fall weather. Reaching into my dresser I pick out a pair of stockings. Properly putting them on I ensure I don't tear them; seeing as the denier is relatively low. Returning to the bathroom I lightly apply make up. Combing my hair and straighten it out then put it in a ponytail. Exiting the bathroom, I proceeded to grab my phone and I leave the bedroom.

Entering the living room I make my way to the kitchen. Continuing the rest of my morning routine; I make myself a cup of coffee. Cooking a simple Eggs and toast for breakfast, I set my meal down at my dining table. Feeling somewhat desolate in my apartment I retrieve my phone. Checking my mail I filter out some of the junk. Seeing an email from my boss that was sent yesterday I opened it. Reading it over I instantly furrow my brows.

"Suzene

Seems like a few shipments were missed. A couple of the businesses haven't received their order. I will need you to come in a little early to help sort this out.

Michael"

Finishing my breakfast I groan in annoyance. I place the dirty dishes in the sink; I go and grab my purse and slip on my flats. Leaving my apartment I approach the staircase. Living on the third floor I descend the flight of stairs. Reaching the ground floor I take a breath. Glancing up, I can feel the morning chill. Seeing overcast weather I feel even more lonely. Heading towards my Toyota Camry I can hear the stirring of the city. Enter in my car I buckle in and start the engine. Peering at the time it is only 7:30. I started driving to work, with little traffic I arrive at work in 15 minutes. Parking in a empty spot, I take stock, and realize that there are a lot more people here than usual. "I think it was a bigger issue than Michael was letting on." I thought to myself. Walking through the front doors I am instantly greeted. "Good morning Suzune!" Glancing at the receptionist I reply "Good morning Lindsey."

Walking up to her desk I stop in front of her. In a hushed voices Lindsey says "Its going to be a long day. Quite a few people have shown up this morning to fix this issue. Myself included." Suzune looks at Lindsey calmly. Humming in acknowledgement Suzune turns and makes her way towards the main office. Lindsey can only smile. Knowing she doesn't mean anything bad. She knows cold personality. Knowing she is actually a very caring person.

Suzune walked into the main office floor. Reaching her cubicle, Michael called out "Suzune! I need you to come to my office."

Before Suzune could even set anything down, she was already being summoned. Without hesitation she made her way over. Arriving at Michaels office she respectfully knocks. "Come in, come in." Suzune enters and looks at Michael. Standing at 6 foot 1, he had light brow hair with a little grey forming around the edges of he's side burns. He is in his early 50's, yet seemed very healthy. Loudly he says "Damnit, this is a big fuck up." Without pause he continues "If it was only a few missed shipments we could make up for it. But this? We missed 10. 10 of our chain restaurants and a few local ones." Frowning Suzune asks "What places have we missed?"

Happy that she is trying to solve the issue; instead of trying to blame someone Michael says "The 10 chain fast food restaurants are not the problem. Since we discovered this shipping error early, sales and shipping have already found a way to get them their shipment of goods. The issue is we won't be able to supply the three local restaurants. For at least another couple of days."

Reiterating Suzune asks "What are the names of the three restaurants?"

"They are: Seattle's Brewery, Homeslice, and Lilac. What I'll need you to do is go with Assistant manager Dave and apologize to each owner. Take stock of what they need, and try to see if we can persuade them to keep doing business with us."

"Hmm... anything else, sir?"

"No, since it's almost 8 you should go ahead and meet with Dave. He will know where to go. He should be in his office getting ready."

Nodding, Suzune quickly leaves. "It will be a long day indeed." She thought to herself.
