He placed a hand over her waist and closed his eyes.
The next morning, Lu Chenjun unhappily woke up to the sound of the alarm going off. He reached across the bed and closed the alarm.
When he sat back down, he felt someone's piercing gaze rest on his face. He turned towards Elena and awkwardly smiled at her.
"So, did I climb onto your bed again?"
Lu Chenjun frowned like a little kid and laid back down onto the bed. He pulled Elena towards him and rested her head on his chest.
"Don't you enjoy sleeping next to me?"
Elena scoffed at his overconfidence, but couldn't help but admit that it was warm and relaxing to have him next to her while sleeping.
However, she didn't want to tell him that, so she jumped out of the bed and said, "You're so shameless!"
Lu Chenjun perched his elbow on the bed and his head on his hand.
He smiled as he said jokingly, "If being shameless means that you will continue to be my human pillow, I will continue to be shameless."
Elena completely ignored him and continued to brush her teeth.
Lu Chenjun hopped out of the bed, and said loud enough for her to hear, "Silence is consent."
Without waiting for a reply, he quickly ran out of Elena's room.
He was liking her more and more.
---
Two weeks have passed, and every day went by without any extraordinary incidents.
During the day, Lu Chenjun and Elena would go to work. At night, Lu Chenjun would shamelessly crawl onto Elena's bed and hug her to sleep.
By now, this has become a habit for both Lu Chenjun and Elena. Lu Chenjun wouldn't be able to fall asleep without having Elena in his arms, and Elena would also have a hard time going to sleep without smelling the fresh, minty scent of Lu Chenjun, and feeling the warmth from his body.
Elena no longer complained when Lu Chenjun climbed onto her bed, but stubbornly refused to admit that she enjoyed having Lu Chenjun by her side. She would still frown at him when he sat down, and she would purposefully lay down on the very edge of the bed.
However, her location on the bed usually didn't last for over one hour. Either Lu Chenjun would move towards her side, or he would pull Elena in towards the middle of the bed, close to him.
Just like that, Elena and Lu Chenjun's relationship continued to improve day by day, and they began to rely on each other for simple things like eating on time and falling to sleep at night.
---
It was a Sunday, and both Elena and Lu Chenjun were at home because they didn't have work.
Elena angrily marched into Lu Chenjun's office without knocking and slammed one hand onto his desk.
"Are you ever going to come and eat? It's 1:30 already."
Lu Chenjun frequently failed to eat his meals on time and relied on Elena to text him or yell at him to go and quickly swallow down a few bites of food.
He looked up at the angry, but cute girl standing in front of him.
"Wait just a little more."
Elena rolled her eyes before marching right out of his office without closing the door. Lu Chenjun turned back towards his computer screen and focused on his work. His gaze moved down to the calendar at the bottom, right corner of the computer.
'It has been a month already. I haven't dated the same girl for so long in a very long time.'
The corners of his lips turned up as he closed his computer and stood up. He opened his phone and located a person on his contact list.
"Are you almost here?"
On the other end of the phone, a raspy voice replied, "Give me five more minutes. I am on my way."
Lu Chenjun hung up the phone and entered the elevator. There really wasn't the need for an elevator as you could totally walk down one flight of stairs. However, Lu Chenjun insisted that it was to be built when he was designing the interior of the house.
As he stepped out of the elevator, the delicious smell of food reached his nose. He looked around for Elena, but she was nowhere to be seen.
He entered the dining room, which was already set up. He could hear voices coming out from the kitchen, so he walked over. Elena was inside the kitchen, helping Auntie Qin prepare the food. She was transferring a dish from the frying pan into a plate and was happily talking to Auntie Qin about the drama she was filming.
As she finished transferring the food, she turned around to take it over to the dining table.
"Oh, you're finally here. Auntie Qin made so much food today, I don't think we would be able to finish."
As she said this, she walked past Lu Chenjun, who was leaning against the wall, and she put the plate on the table. Lu Chenjun followed Elena and watched as she arranged all of the plates.
"Did you know that I am one of the hottest topics on the news today?"
Elena looked up at him, "No, I didn't know. Why? Did your company stocks drop?"
Lu Chenjun frowned at her comment, "Are you looking forward to a day when I go bankrupt?"
Elena laughed, "Of course not. If you go bankrupt, who is going to support me?"
She lifted one finger up and tried to look very serious, "However, if you actually go bankrupt, don't say I'm heartless when I break up with you."
Lu Chenjun pretended to look sad as he pouted and squinted his eyes together. The truth was that Elena hadn't asked Lu Chenjun for any money ever since the 70,000 yuan. She paid for all of her things herself, except for when Lu Chenjun took her out for lunch.
Lu Chenjun could tell that she didn't trust him enough to put all of her support on him.
He bit his lips before continuing, "The news seemed to have finally realized that I haven't changed a girlfriend in a month."
Elena looked up at Lu Chenjun, "That made it to being one of the hottest topics?"
Lu Chenjun shook his head, "Not that. Of course, the media needs something more exciting. They assumed that I am now interested in men."
A smile tugged at her lips before Elena couldn't suppress it anymore. She broke out into loud laughter as she crossed her arms over her stomach to catch her breath.
Her eyes brimmed with tears of mirth as she watched Lu Chenjun's face turn dark. As her laughter slowly died down, the doorbell rang. To avoid Lu Chenjun's piercing gaze, she looked towards the door and said, "I'll get it."
She quickly ran over and opened the door, thinking that it was the package arriving from her online shopping.
Just as she was about to ask where she should sign on the package, she realized that the person at the door wasn't the delivery guy, but an old man.
"You must be Jin Yinghui."
