Chapter 3

Leo's eyes were focused on the point above his chest. A Small purple crystal similar to the one the Fool Mage shot up in the air today at the performance. Unlike the Fool Mage's one however Leo's was miniscule.

A soft light shone off the purple crystal. It was shaped like a rhombus.

"Wha-what is this?" Leo thought "It's glowing and gives me a feeling of familiarity."

Leo tried to grab the crystal but as his hand was about to make contact it sifted through his hand like sand.

"Wh-whoa. This is soo cool." Leo stared at the crystal intensely.

Today reminded him of something back on the road where he died. He remembered a voice and he vaguely remembered seeing a glowing ball enter him.

"Is that what this was?" he asked himself "But what does it mean. I also remember an orb leaving me too."

His thoughts were very jumbled and he had a hard time making sense of things. Eventually he grew tired. His baby body couldn't house a lot of energy. As his eyes slowly shut the glowing crystal looked as if it melded back into his body.

One week passed. Leo was very pumped up for his future and almost was able to forget the humiliation of being a baby.

"Soon soon. I WILL make a name for myself in this world, or any world I'm in for that matter." Leo thought with a devious smile on his face.

Everytime when his mom or sister weren't in his room he focused on the purple crystal again and as if magic(well it probably is) it emerged from his body. When emerging it came out in droplets like a liquid and took the form of a rhombus purple crystals.

Every time he re-summoned this crystal it became slightly bigger or a small shard could be seen floating around the bigger one. Along with his daily exercises Leo spent his hours staring at the shimmering substance.

"It can take the form of a solid and a liquid. I haven't tried gas yet though."

Everytime Leo summoned this crystal substance it emerged like a liquid and formed like a solid, but what of gas? Everytime he tried imagining it as a gas it would just split into smaller crystals.

"Sigh, too many questions and not enough answers."

Leo shut his eyes thinking about potential answers.

"I wish I could grow up fast and could ask questions." Leo thought silently his eyes drifting around the room to entertain himself.

"Gosh, are you sure he is alright?" His mom was talking to his dad on a rare day off.

Leo could only stare and be as confused as his mom was. He has spent a year and six months inside this baby body. When he turned 1 he could finally take steps independently which greatly surprised his family and made Leo proud. He was expecting to be able to talk soon too, but every time he tried to form a word his tongue felt jumbled and he couldn't make sense of the word he was trying to form.

When Leo came to this world he could mysteriously understand everything around him. One time he even caught a glimpse of one of his fathers documents that fell off his work table. He looked over a few times and it was as if he was reading his native language.

He was already 1 year and six months old so he was expecting to have already said his first word ages ago and so were his parents.

"Don't worry honey, I'm sure he will say his first words anytime now. Some babies just need more time." Leo's dad reassured his mom.

Leo could only make undecipherable noises, no words whatsoever. Although Leo probably could communicate with his parents through writing as he could already read, and understand the language he thought that would be too much of hassle explaining why he could write the language perfectly when even his mother couldn't do it neatly.

Leo was frustrated ever since the discovery of the crystal, his pile of questions multiplied by three.

"Stupid mouth! Just say something! ANYTHING!" Leo was angrily waving his arms.

His mother stared at the spectacle and then asked his dad a question "Do you think he's frustrated too? It almost seems like he can understand us whenever we talk in front of him like this."

Leo's dad just stared at him with calm eyes.

When Leo turned 1 he could see a little better. As a baby his sense of hearing was sensitive but fine. All his other senses were dulled but not gone. Now that Leo was standing in front of his parents he observed them.

His mother had long hair that reached just below her shoulders. It was lovely dark brown with streaks of a light orange running through it. She had beady eyes with a light brown hue. Her skin was light and smooth. If she was in Leo's old world she'd be a beauty.

His dad looked slightly taller compared to his mom. He had normal brown hair and that was cut very short and unkept. He had light skin too but his face had frubbles and his eye looked light and friendly. Eye because he only had one eye. Two long scars, unfit for his friendly face ran across his eye horizontally. Despite his injury he still looked relatively handsome.

Leo was silently observing the worried parents when his sister Clara entered the room. She was of short stature and wore light boots that reached just above her ankles. The laces slightly frayed at the end formed a criss cross pattern. Her light brown hair was braided; she also had a bubbly expression similar to her personality. A light fur coat was sitting on her body, her face was red and she was panting.

"MOOOOM!" She looked as if she was about to burst "A golden carriage is coming through the village! Is it a princess?"

Clara hopped up and down her excitement could almost be felt by everyone.

"A carriage? Deep in the forest? Are you playing a trick on us sweety?" her mom answered.

"No, come see!" Clara grabbed her mom and dad by the sleeve and was dragging them out the door.

Leo's mom swooped him up and went outside with her daughter and husband. A crowd similar to the one that gathered around the Fool Mage was gathered around the carriage. It had golden vines wrapped around its body and its wheels had a black luster. The main body was a bright red. When looked at from the front no animals could be seen pulling the carriage.

The crowd was whispering, speculating where this strange carriag came from. Then a loud sound of unlocking was heard and the startled crowd looked back at the carriage car.

A door swung open and wooden steps fell down. The fool mage that was here last year stepped out with a joyful smile on his face. With a charming voice the man started speaking

"May I please speak to the mayor of this village?"

That's when an old man stepped through the crowd. He approached the man and talked to him for some bit. Leo was too far away to hear anything said between the two of them but the villagers near them looked excited. When the talking ended the mayor shook the man's hand vigorously and left back into the crowd. The man started speaking again

"Hello there friends!" The man's eye scanned the crowd then he started again "From this day onward I will be living here in this village."

The villagers started at the man, their spirits rising. From what Leo could hear by the shouts of joy from the excited villagers it was very rare for a mage to move into a remote village. Despite the many confused glances as why a mage would want to live here the villagers started preparing a feast to celebrate the new resident.

Leo just stared at the man, the thoughts from a year ago still fresh in his mind. His eye sparkled with admiration. When Leo was thinking he suddenly had an idea. If he couldn't speak then he would have to communicate a different way. Unlike his parents this man seemed to be able to use magic. Never once did he see any of his family summon a purple crystal like he could.

Leo squirmed from his mother's grasp and before his mother could stop him he ran, almost waddled, toward the man. Leo pushed his way through the peoples legs and walked up to the man's pant leg. Then he grabbed the pant leg and tugged as hard as possible.

The man looked down at Leo surprised how this little kid made his way through a dense crowd. But before the man said anything to ask about parents Leo formed the purple crystal. He then turned into a liquid and back into a crystal again. He then started back up towards the man with the crystal just floating in his hands.

If Leo wanted to be the best in this world he would need to attract the attention of someone with experience early and he thought this was just the way to do it. The crowd around Leo and the man became silent. The man's eyes grew wide. He tried grabbing the crystal like Leo did before but was met with the same reaction. His eyes grew even wider.

"H-how?" the man stuttered.

Leo smirked "Success."
