Well, we Third Partied Them

What it didn't know was that I also took some buffout before this. It was the only way I could keep going. I was ashamed at first but then I was happy to have taken the drugs as I wrestled a mutant with the enhanced strength and stamina.

The mutant tried to crush the nuke and my hands pried at his fingers as if my life literally depended on it. He roared in rage and twirled me around off my feet. I cussed and it punched me in the gut with the free hand.

A rock smashed and shattered against the suicidal mutant's back and I watched as Robin stabbed the sharp rebar into it's back. Able to get more leverage as it was forced to kneel I pried so hard I snapped it's fingers back with a crack.

It was also at this moment, that the others returned.

All of the were dragging raiders, no doubt for cooking later; two even carried a long pole with several raiders impaled on it like animals. They dropped their snacks and unloaded onto us but disregarded their suicidal friend's life. I would too if he was trying to do his job description in a big explosion in the middle of base.

A stray bullet kicked their friend's head back and I got the nuke. I scrambled behind the body for cover and screamed, "Get the minigun!"

The Gunner's small frame made her a faster and smaller target as she obeyed my order. However, no matter how small or fast someone was, when bullets are falling like rain it's easy to get hit. She was instantly obliterated when she stepped out of cover.

I'm kidding, she threw a Molotov first for some spotty smoke cover. Then she made sure to stay behind concrete barriers along the way. She was a paradox, a smart and tough blonde. I wonder if they would get blonde jokes in Fallout.

I don't even know where my 10mm went as I dragged the mutant on my back and held a nuclear weapon to my chest like a football. My grip was firm on the chains he used to adorn his body and he grew lighter by the second; that's what scared me. So many bullets were flying a mutant was getting mulched into spaghetti toppings on my back!

When I got behind a concrete pillar I let the now limbless bag of ripped guts fall with a wet splat. I could see it as Robin propped up the minigun and whirred it to life. My ears were ringing too much for me to appreciate that sound of the electric motor purring in bursts as she laid down hell fire.

She made signs to me like a quarterback in between bursts. I just gave her a dumb look until I saw her lips saying "throw it". That's probably why I was fourth string on the football team.

Psyching myself up, trusting in her covering fire scaring the mutants enough to not risk a peek shot on me I stepped out. I took two steps, reeling back like a long distance Hail Mary throw. The "ball" however was much heavier than a football but regardless I yelled,

"Go LONG!"

It didn't go far, I was aiming more for height in the spacious atrium entrance we were in. There was a burst, a flash, a shockwave, chaos and dust. Metal and rock screeched down swallowing the mutant's screams. I don't even remember how many there were.

After the rocks settled I walked out over the pile and looked everywhere at our handywork. The street was full of Raider and mutant bodies. Cars had exploded from a fight we weren't even in. It was a vicious third party with us literally on top. I kicked a pebble as Robin joined me. We looked at each other and we both got the stupidest grins on our faces.

We did it.

We were alive.
