Gabriel's Worries

(A few days later)

"Mi-kun..."

Gabriel was lying in her room while waiting for Mike. It's been a few days since Mike went on a mission. And this time he is taking longer to come back.

Gabriel isn't even supposed to know about Mike's whereabouts. In fact, even Michael isn't supposed to know. Since Mike commits 'sins'. Mike made a rule that they won't try to know what Mike is doing. Since they can't lie, Mike decided that it's better if they don't know the truth. So, they don't know a single detail about Mike's missions.

Michael would be okay during that time but Gabriel becomes really sad without Mike around. If Gabriel was in the old heaven run by God, she would be a Fallen angel by now for committing the sin 'Melancholy'. But thanks to the defective system, 'Melancholy' was removed from the list of the deadly sins. As long as she does not commit 'Sloth', she would still be an angel. But Michael would always worry about her. Mike also worries about her and removed any slight possibilities of an angel falling from melancholy from the system by partially hacking it.

To be honest, for Gabriel who lived so many centuries, a few days isn't supposed to be a thing. But she became too attached to Mike that even an hour without him is like a decade for her.

"I wonder if Mi-kun's alright..."

And this is another one of her worries. She knows that Mike is stronger than her but even then, she worries about him. But that's not the main issue.

"What if he decided to stay on earth..."

This is Gabriel's greatest fear. Gabriel knows that Mike is a human and doesn't have much lifespan when compared to angels. Like it or not, Gabriel has to watch him grow old. And she doesn't know what Mike's reaction would be about that. What if he decided to stay with someone who he can die together with?

And thoughts like these made Gabriel make a wish for the first time. A wish to become human. But alas, God is already dead. So no one can grant it now.

When Gabriel is worrying about that, she heard a shout from far.

"Onee-chan, I am home!"

Gabriel immediately forgot her worries and her face lit up and dashed in the direction of the voice.

"Miiiiiii-kuuuuuunnnn!"

She pounced onto Mike before he could say anything and buried his face into her boobs as usual.

"Welcome Back! I missed you a lot! I am not leaving you for a while!"

"Mmmpphh! At least mmph! leave my head mmph!"

Mike struggled to talk but Gabriel won't let go of him. Michael also came to welcome his brother.

"Welcome Mike, how was the mission?"

"You know the rule," Mike replied after freeing himself from two mounds after some struggles.

"Yeah yeah. Details about your mission won't be discussed to make our involvement as less as possible. But it seems that you didn't come back from the Vatican this time."

"Ah, that's right. I created a teleportation circle. My mission turned out to be a long term one. I can't tell the place though."

"Haa... Vasco is really lucky. He isn't an angel like us. So, he will know a lot about your mission." Michael sighed at the number of secrets Mike is keeping from him. But he can't say anything against that.

"Mi-kun, is there anything else that you can say about what happened the past few days?" Gabriel asked while she kept hugging him.

"Well, let's see. I met two weird perverted families. I am currently staying in there with them. They are the weirdest people I have ever seen in my life. The girls from both the families developed a crush on me. They are good people though. I had a lot of fun with them."

"Hahaha..." Michael couldn't help but laugh at Mike's comment. He really wants Mike to socialize. "Well, it's a good thing that you are having...."

Before Michael could complete his sentence, both Mike and Michael noticed a strange phenomenon.

The phenomenon that shocked them is that Gabriel's wings flickered from white to black. It is an indication that she would fall if she went any further. Both of them noticed the panicked expression on Gabriel's face. It seems that Gabriel didn't notice it herself because she is in her own world.

"Onee-chan..."

"Huh? What is it, Mi-kun?"

"Your wings flickered."

"Huh?!" Gabriel was shocked a little but was able to process what happened. It's 'Envy'. She became jealous of the human family and the two girls who like Mike and can be with Mike.

Gabriel looked at Mike who was still staring at her with shock.

"Ah, no... Mi-kun..." She panicked. Her Mi-kun looked at her wings flickering. "Don't look at me!" Not knowing what to do she ran away with tears at the corner of her eyes.

Michael was about to go after her but Mike stopped him "Nii-chan, let me deal with this. It's my fault. I have to solve this myself."

Michael nodded. Mike went after Gabriel. He reached her room.

"Onee-chan, I am coming in," Mike announced as he opened the door. He found Gabriel sitting while hugging her knees. He couldn't see her face since Gabriel is facing the other side.

"Sorry, Mi-kun. Onee-chan just panicked, you see. But I think it's a good thing that you found a human family. I mean, angels and humans have different lifespans. So, Mi-kun might be happier with them rather than... rather than..." Gabriel couldn't complete the sentence. She is trying really hard to make the tears at the corner of her eyes not fall down her face.

Suddenly Gabriel felt a sensation on her back. She was hugged by Mike.

Mike whispered in her ear, "I am sorry, Onee-chan. I wasn't able to notice it sooner how much the difference in our life spans is affecting you. And what are you saying? How can I be happy if onee-chan isn't there around me? Looks like I have to say it out loud. Onee-chan, I love you."

And he confessed. Mike said the three words directly to Gabriel for the first time. "And what if our lifespans are different? If I die, I just have to come to heaven as a soul and we can just be together again. You are an irreplaceable existence for me, Onee-chan. There might be some time where we have to be separated but in the end, I promise that I will always come back to you."

And Gabriel wasn't able to hold her tears back anymore. She was able to contain the tears in sadness but the happiness that Mike just gave to her released them easily. She turned around and hugged Mike as hard as she can, making it difficult for Mike to breathe again but looking at how hard she is crying, Mike decided not to care. "I love you too, Mi-kun! Onee-chan loves you a lot!" She yelled out loud while crying and Mike gently patted her.

"Let's be together forever, onee-chan."

"Of course!" Gabriel cheerfully accepted.

Michael heard Gabriel shouting her love from far. He smiled with satisfaction and was glad about how Mike solved it himself.
