The Farewell Letter

"Hmm? Oh you're awake! Good good! the gods are really helping you."

When Light woke up, he saw himself in a clean and white room with Doctors around treating him. Instead of feeling relieved, Light was shocked, he exactly doesn't know what happened to him and who brought him to the hospital where only rich and noble people are allowed to enter.

In a frightful moment, Light's body became stiff and his complexion became pale, he was stunned for a fraction of seconds, nonetheless a single old doctor wearing a white robe and an eye glasses keeps on gazing at him.

"Umm Honorable sir, do you know where am I?"

"You are in the hospital, aren't you aware of what happened to you?"

"....."

"Umm sorry sir, what I meant is who brought me to the hospital."

"Ohhh! You don't have to worry, you don't have to pay for anything. The man who brought you here will pay for all the charges."

"Umm ok sir."

Light was pretty relieved after hearing those words. He really doesn't have a single penny to pay for everything that they have done to him. They have treated him with care and respect nor he doesn't have anything to offer them.

"Honorable sir, do you know who is my benefactor that kindly brought me here?"

"—Hmm I heard his name is Broad and he is a royal knight. And also he is very rich!! Hey kiddo mind breaking some of your bones for more money??"

Furthermore, Light doesn't understand what was already going on, he was shocked and could only muster up a few words out of his lips, instead of thinking what to reply to the doctor, it was as if his mind was nor going to give him any hints, it was all blank.

"Well you should think about money, golds! Isn't it enough to make you live the world to your fullest?"

''Ahh—yes, I want money but what is the condition?''

Light lips was agape. He doesn't want to answer something that he hates very much. Nothing could really change from just trying to live despair and sufferings, it is just like you are waiting for your death to arrive, nevertheless thing's wouldn't really have to change, he's just simply a commoner, and is the commoner who is the lowest of them all. If you compare his status to an insect then he is an ant or a creature lower than an ant.

A creature that could only solve anything by his death,

"What if I die, won't all my problems be solved?" Light muttered as if he keeps gazing his bony hands, his eyes was desperate to commit suicide, but the way the old doctor besides him locked his eyes towards his little skinny composure could give him an irritating feeling of disbelief.

"What Die?!"

The doctor roared after he wiped some dust on his glasses, it was a muttering that is simply out in the blue, that was simply an out of act for a little kid like him.

"Sorry for earlier kiddo. I really didn't mean it. It was just a joke, don't take it to heart."

"....."

"Umm sir, can I ask you a question?"

"Ok, ask anything."

"Is being poor a sin?"

"Hmm that's quite a deep question."

"So it really is a sin?"

"...."

"No it's not, Being poor isn't really a sin but if you stay poor, then that is a sin."

"Haha, you really are a good person sir."

Light's eyes shone in the patient's room, and his smile widened on his face, it was a smile that is full of energy.

"Well I am a doctor and that's all we do. We give people hospitality, so of course I am a good person."

"Haha except for one thing sir."

"One thing? Wut is it?"

"Your greed for money." Light chuckled while covering his lips, it was as if he was mocking the doctor, but the doctor knew that his sparkling eye's from before disappeared without a trace, his eyes was cold like a person who is waiting for their death to arrive, a sour taste left the doctor's mouth seeing that the child was forcefully laughing himself.

"What?? I told you it was a joke! I was just trying to live up the mood!"

"Really sir?? I thought it was for real."

"Hayss, damn kiddo so cunning, 'Oh by the way kiddo have you already read the letter?"

"Letter? by who?"

"Oh recently there was an Old man visiting here when you are asleep. He said that he wanted to give you this very important letter. So I let him come. But he instantly left after he handed it without even saying anything, that's why I was a bit bothered. Is he your father kiddo?"

"Kind of."

"Now I'm really bothered."

Knowing that the doctor was confused, Light bit his lips before continuing to move a conversation, it was a memory which he doesn't want to tell to anyone, because that remaining memory was a past that couldn't really please and appreciate someone, rather it was a melancholy event that even he doesn't want to remember again.

"He was my only family. He was my everything but I don't know why he threw me out of the house when I was 6."

"He threw you out of the house??!! Why? Did you do something bad or steal anything from him?"

"No I didn't, I was too good to him, I didn't do anything that could make him upset and angry."

"OH, okay kiddo I feel you, so did you leave the house?"

"No I didn't, instead I slept outside the door."

"Okay, so you really are a good dog, huh kiddo?"

"Dog?!" Light was furious after hearing the Old Doctor's retort, comparing him to a dog is a kind of insult to him, from Light's point of view a dog is an animal while he is a human, it really doesn't compare to anything.

"Oh, what I mean is, you are a superb kid. So kiddo what's next? What did he do to you? Aside from being his guard dog?"

In an instance, Light's face darkened and his eyes kept gazing sharply at the doctor, knowing that the kid was mad at him, the doctor immediately averted his gaze and looked at the ground.

''Oh, wow! what is this? a floor?''

Light couldn't take the doctor's insult anymore, he threw of his white blanket and stood up from the bed, he clenched his fist before roaring like a lion,

''An Dog is an animal while I am a Human, also Dogs are idiots while I am a genius!!''

The doctor's eyes opened in widened figure, his complexion became stiff while his mouth was brought widely open, even he didn't know where he got electrocuted, it could be from the kid's, 'Dog is an animal line while humans aren't', or from the 'Dog's are idiots while he is genius'. The doctor doesn't care anymore, he decided to hold his laughter for a moment, even if tears started to appear from his two eyes, in front of the kid, he tried to become a doctor who he could rely on.

''Uh, perhaps you don't know that humans are also animals? We are animals, but our [IQ] is not an [IQ] of an animal. We are trained, and much more capable than a lowly species that you could think of.''

''Oh, so humans are animals, but much smarter and stronger?''

''As I expected from a ten year's old kid, you are too easy to catch up, perhaps you really are a genius.'' The doctor tried to please Light, he gaze at his lips and he could see that the kid was already smiling, it was easy to please a ten year old kid, it was as if your job was done if you could just give him a sweet lollipop,

"Oh, ok I try,'' Light continued,'' and after that, I decided to work for him to be his wood labor. Just to never be apart from him."

"So did he agreed?"

"Yes he did, but in one condition, I won't sleep in his house, instead I will find my own place to live."

"Damn! That is really heartless! If I had saw that old man before, after you told me all his evil deeds that he had done to you, then I would probably punch him to death!" The doctor uttered while wiping some tears dripping from his eye.

"Stop it, even though he is bad. He is still the one that took care of me when I was a child."

"Aren't you a child, huh kiddo?"

"I ain't a child, I'm a 100% adult!!"

"Hmm so 10 years old nowadays are taken as an adult huh? Do you have any puberty hair?''

"Yes, I have hair!" Light repeatedly nodded and pointed out his blonde hair,

"Not a hair, a puberty hair!"

Suddenly, when the two of them kept on shouting towards each others, one of the nurses immediately called Doctor Claine, she was parched from running, and even her white robe was not clear as white anymore, it was stained with blood,

"Doctor Claine! Doctor Claine!"

"Yes? What is it?"

"One of our patients is in critical state, we need to examine him now!"

"Ok, I'll catch up."

"Hey kiddo if you need anything just call my name. My name is Doctor Claine, I got to go first. I need to attend something important."

Doctor Claine then immediately left the room because of an urgent matter. And Light was all left lonely in the room, and he suddenly remembered the letter that Doctor Claine talked about earlier. Light directly turned his head unto his right side and he found a letter above the wooden desk.

Light was in thought if he would read the letter or not, but he doesn't have something to do anyway. So he decided to open the letter that is written in a yellow paper, Slowly tilting the yellow paper he directly proceeded to the first sentence,

"Dear Light, If you are reading this then I probably would be dead by now."

"What?!'' Light twitched his eyes for a second to confirm the letter that was sent to him, his eyes began to tears as he saw that it was really true, he was not imagining things as he continued reading all the paragraph,

"I'm very sorry for all the bad things that I have done to you. But please forgive me, I was just trying to make you safe. I can't let you involved any further by my own problems. The magicians that chased me for the whole 10 years have found a lead to find me. I can't stay here any further but I also can't leave here. I'm too old to move now. It's up to you Light, I trained you to become independent so that you will not depend on someone when I'm gone. Do not trust anyone that you don't know and never show that pendant to anyone aside from the Queen of Vain. Live your life to the fullest, also I wish you to be the strongest magician in this continent that I can be proud of when I disappear. Light was no longer calm after he read the letter. He cried and bawled for why he is such an idiot that he doesn't even know anything. He cried for how weak he is that he can't even help his oldman just a little.
