My new life VII

Katerina

There are different ways to hunt fish in a primitive way, however, I do not have a canoe, or arrows, or baskets. So, the only way to get fish was with a spear. My aim has improved since I got into lynx form, so although it is difficult for me because of my current size, I managed to catch several fish. Why go fishing? Well, it is easier to eat raw fish than raw meat. I know I should start a bonfire, but I worry that the impact of the fire will be too strong for the members of the tribe and that they will begin to suspect me.

Using a sharp-pointed stone, I remove the fish's scales and guts. Then I add lemon and wait for the other members of the family to arrive. The twins came first. I smiled at them and said:

-Brothers, I went to the river and got some fish and organized it for you-

Then I showed them the minced fish with lemon. They were surprised by my words, but when they smelled the lemon they frowned and did not touch the food. I realized they hated lemon and I don't blame them, it can be quite tart and unpleasant if not consumed correctly. I tried to pout and act cute, looking at them full of anticipation and trying to use my cuteness to force them to taste it.

To my surprise, it was Quinn who tasted the fish first. In the last few days, he had seen more people approach Avon asking for favors and Avon was always ready to help them. Besides that, Avon is the bravest of the two. Still, Quinn was the first to taste my food. For that alone, I am going to put it in my favorite place.

Hehehe

Maybe pretending to be a 5-year-old is influencing me a bit. Quinn took the food without any expression on her face. First, he smelled it, then he stared at it from different angles and finally ate it. It seemed that rather than eating or tasting a meal, it seemed that he was trying an experiment, I am sure that if there had been a weight, he would have weighed the piece and made notes on all aspects of the fish.

However, I think he liked my recipe, he gave a surprised face when I tasted the piece and then quickly shoved more pieces into his mouth. Meanwhile, Avon, seeing this situation, also decided to try the fish and was equally surprised by the taste of it. I felt a sense of pride watching these two young men eat the fish quickly. It is not that it's the best fish in the world, the taste is pretty thick, but it's better than raw meat, easier to digest, and more hygienic.

I saw that at one point they stopped eating, it was practically from one second to another, I thought they had felt bad or had been full. But I noticed that they were still staring at the food with desire but held back. Avon looked at me and asked:

- Have you eaten? Did you leave for our father? -

It was a strange thing to see Avon say these words, always speaking lightly and adding a fake smile. However, this time he did not sugar-coat the words and his expressions were honest and crude.

-I already ate, but that is all the fish I have for you and my father. -

In the first half of the sentence they looked at me like I was their savior, but in the second half, it seemed like I had condemned them to hell. I felt a little guilty for not having caught more and bringing them some more. In the end, they are only twelve-year-old children, I thought that because of their age they would not be able to eat a whole fish and that is why I brought so little, but I was wrong.

-Ummm, if you want, I'll do a little more tomorrow. -

They smiled at me and that smile was special. The truth is the first real smile I get from them.
