Chapter 6

When they arrived at the gate, they saw it was still locked. Seeing as there wasn't anyone around Thorin took out her axe and swung down the door which got cleaved into two.

"Um Thorin you do know that there is a hole right next to the door, right?" said John and true to his word there was a very large hole right next to the door which they all could have walked through perfectly fine.

"Oh, I did not see that there." responded Thorin embarrassed.

The team walked through the door slowly, once they arrived inside, they could see the dome looked very different to what theirs looked like. It was dark and stormy rain poured down from the heavens. Almost all the houses were destroyed, as if something just walked right through the poor town.

"Stay alert guys we don't know what behemoth type did this." said John.

Everyone nodded and continued onwards to the military base. As they were walking, they noticed the anti-behemoth cannons were completely destroyed as if they were a plaything to a child. On the ground there where a lot of blood stains, probably from the dome inhabitants. They suddenly stopped.

"Why did we stop?" asked Devon.

John didn't say anything and turned around looking behind them.

"thought I felt something looking at us "said John slowly.

Everyone was quite spooked out by this and also started to look around. They all brandished their weapons.

"Devon switch places with me, you walk in the front and I'll stick to the back, if something is following us, I'll notice." spoke John out.

"Copy that." responded Devon.

After the minor hiccup they started to walk again to the military base. It was getting quite late so they decided to set up camp and rest up.

John wasn't feeling tired so he said he'll stay up and keep watch, the others being tired didn't complain at all. They set up their portable tents and went to sleep. John had put a force field around them in case something wanted to try and eat them. John couldn't get that presence from earlier out of his head.

The sheer killing intent from it sent shivers down his spine. He walked a bit off into the distance so he can get a good look of the area they were in. While it continued to rain, John activated his night vision to see if there was anything in the dark. That's when he noticed that there were no footprints from any animal on the ground, it could be that the rain washed it away but there should have been at least some prints left.

"That's strange, there should at least be the sounds of crickets or something, but no nothing, dead silent." said John to himself only hearing the pitter patter of rain drops.

John didn't feel right about this, he knows that modern domes have added areas that are rich in wild life so what had happened to the animals? An alarm suddenly went off, something hit the force field back at camp!

"Shit" he cussed as he floored his thrusters and bolted towards the camp.

When he had arrived, he saw there was nothing there. He walked around the entire force field but couldn't find anything, it confused him greatly. He looked down in the mud to see if there was any footprint. There wasn't until when he reached one point there, he felt a chill go up his spine. Right outside where the tents were two foot prints that looked like a human expect missing one toe.

Whatever it was that set the force field off was looking right at the team sleeping! When he looked up to see if there was anything in the area, he saw nothing just the eternal blackness of the forest. He suddenly heard a sound that sounded a lot like a chuckle coming from the forest. This sent him on edge...

The following morning John was quiet, more quiet than usual. Levy immediately noticed this and told the others about his behavior.

"Hey John what's wrong?" asked Levy.

"Hmm? no nothing don't worry." replied John.

"Did something happen last night while you were on watch?" asked Thorin.

John sighed and told them everything that had happened last night, to say they were freaked out was an understatement. They didn't say anything for a while until Devon said something.

"What type of Behemoth chuckles...Just what the hell did these people make in this dome." said Devon.

Just as Devon said this, they saw something up ahead on the road. Whatever the thing was looked like a human.

"Hey look it's a person! We will continue talking about what happened last night at a later time." said Levy.

She walked towards the person and noticed it slowly turned towards them. When it fully turned towards them Levy stopped in her tracks and suddenly began shivering and turned white faced. The rest of the team arrived next to Levy and saw she froze up, they looked to the human and was also shocked at what it was they were seeing. The "man" was pale white and had not face accept a mouth with rows of teeth. It had very long arms. It gave a terrifying screech that sounded like a cat and metal scratching together. The thing lunged towards them at a very fast pace. Levy screamed and fell back making the robot also fall on its backside. John quickly recovered from the shock and stomped onto it squishing whatever it was. When he lifted his foot, he saw the thing was dead but still twitching, black blood was pouring out of it.

"What the hell is that thing" he said as he crouched and looked at the thing zooming on it.

"I don't know all I know it was once human..." said John slowly.

"How do you know it was a human?" asked Thorin

"You know of a creature that wears a suit and tie?" responded John.

Thorin and Devon looked closer and saw he was right; the thing was wearing a black suit or well what was left of it.

Levy couldn't take it anymore and started to cry.

Thorin went down and gave her a hug to calm her down. The big robot easily wrapped its arms around the smaller robot. John and Devon stood there just looking at the scene, they looked back down the way they came and a horrified look formed on Devon's face.

"Hey John do you see that?" asked Devon.

"Yeah I see it" said John no emotion can be heard in his voice.

"What... what is it guys?" asked Thorin also looking back.

"Looks like the thing we just killed sent a SOS to its mates." said John.

When Thorin looked back she saw there was a whole bunch of those human monsters making their way towards them. What the team didn't realize was a silhouette on a house roof looking right at them, you couldn't see anything except for the giant unnatural grin on its face and then it let out a horrifying chuckle as it ate a pleading human red blood coating its teeth....
