legacies

Annastacia stared or the window from her bedroom, as the nightly breeze went up her spine and sent shivers from the tips of her hair all the way to under her skin. she thought of the wonders she had seen through out her fifteen year old brain of how much dirt seemed to linger on in her memory and how much it had changed her heart to a darker incarnation.

if ever there was one thing she valued it was her dad, it was his long comfortable warmth that seemed everlasting but she lost it to her replica ,her doppelganger, a complete reflection of her self and it killed her how all the attention shifted to her with the sudden leave of her mom.

Her mom she chuckled at the thought, she wasn't qualified to hold that title ,it deserved ladies who not only screamed in the maternity ward but was there to witness the birthdays and puberty ,that was the representation of a mother . One who knew her responsibilities and acted on them like a normal human being like all other mothers were ,caring and affectionate.

Ever since her figurative mother left she has lived a life full of torment having to witness her father break down and loose it in front of her.

He would get drunk every Saturday and come home staggering to his bed then wake up the next morning and find a way to pull himself together just so he could take Annalise shopping or to the park and live her to babysit Micheal. She hated that she had to stand by and watch Annalise get all the attention from her dad , something that she had mortified to be hers and only hers.

It was her mother's fault ,she thought ,it was her complete ability to have a heart made of stone and her irresponsibility and for that she hated her for everything and definitely for being her mother.

Larry was another godforsaken problem , if he wasn't drunk ,he was at work trying to bury his sorrows and try to fill the huge gap in him that seemed more like a void just like her only she found better ways to deal with it.

She missed the days she had with him, when he would drive her to school engrossed in an infinite chitchat or better yet to the park or even to the movies. Those were the times she wished she had now, so maybe it wasn't Lunar's fault ,maybe it was Annalise's fault. She had taken away everything that had made sense in her world.

There was a rustle suddenly down stairs and her attention shifted to her ears ,her guess was that dad was home and he was drunk , thank goodness the nanny had left otherwise the rumors would spread like wildfire in the estate which was the last thing she needed , to go to school covered in utter embarrassment and pure shame considering now everybody compared her to Annalise.

Annalise was another topic she loathed and a subject that seemed to grow to hate every day she thought about it ,in that she was no longer an individual nor in any way independent, a shadow of her sister and as a part of a complete whole dominated by Annalise.

That was way to much, no, she had to leave, but her father wouldn't allow it ,s she had to pay ,the world was definitely not big enough for the both of them. The was only room for pretty faces Calpara, the queen of Calpara and that post was hers to occupy. Her sister's legacy was now over for she had come to arise.

The door next to her room cranked open, the devil was out of the cage ,she thought as she neared her door.

Annalise went down the stairs ecstatic in a way that mesmerized her , she was always overjoyed to see her father, even though something at the back of her head always nudged her of an opposite.

She had lived an illusion for a very long time and when she came to know of Larry , something about his face felt so familiar and that had become a picture of Goodwill and an icon of happiness in a way even she could not explain.

She ran to the sitting room and there before her lay her dreams tied in a bow and decorated in glitter and stars and shined so brightly it blinded her.

He was asleep with his rythimic snoring confirming it .

A cold breeze blew into the room a confirmation of an open door. She tiptoed slowly to it and closed it so slowly she felt like a ghost.

She walked over to him and studied his face carefully and slowly , there was a rough growth slowly invading his handsome face.

He suddenly woke up and found her staring at him .

"Annalise?" he began in shock.

"hey dad "

He cleared his eyes and looked around him unsure of his locomotion all the way here.

"is everything okay?"

"everything is okay Dad"she said as she sat next to him and placed her head on his pounding chest.

Larry fell into silent thought, he wasn't deserve ng of this , yet somehow he went with it as his mind pushed him to paralysis.

it had been five good years since , lunar left and Annastacia had disappeared into thin air and until then he had two fifteen year old and a four year old Micheal struggling to grow with a nanny in the absence of a mother.

Larry felt weak and it weighed on him that he couldn't offer his kids a better mother due to his candid inability to move on. He blamed his heart ,it was a sucker for women who could never offer anything back.

First there was Lunar ,then Annastacia which was Short lived ,the just recently at the bar was Nancy , he couldn't explain if it was a sudden attachment ,or if it was an obsession but ever since the flight back, she was often in his head ,more than his professional career allowed, more than he could believe, so he felt he had no choice ,he felt he had no alternative, she was involved and now he just had to know her.
