The Bait

"A random demon as a bait?"

I creased my eyebrows after hearing Callisto's plan.

"Think about it. We don't know how Io and the rest were kidnapped. If we see it directly, we might be able to defeat the mages,"

Hm, he's right. It's our only way.

"... Alright," I mumbled. "Who's going to be the bait?"

"Maybe the weakest demon you've got,"

The face of that coward demon flashes across my mind. I smirked devilishly. "I got it,"

Arden had his eyes closed shut, his head hung down and cold sweat dripping from his forehead. His mind is a mess. After witnessing Ezra's demons got captured in front of him made his stomach twisted. He's praying every second wishing Ezra would stop sending more demons to him.

Because that's Laizar's plan. Sealing away Ezra's demons with his powerful mage until Ezra is left alone defenseless.

Arden's heart skipped a beat when he heard something outside his cell. He widened his eyes when slowly a green vapor formed outside the bars, then, a goblin emerged.

Another demon.

This goblin looks like it's in pain. The shoulder of the goblin is also slanted. But this time, Arden tried to warn the demon.

"Hmph!" Arden desperately moved around and kicked his legs.

The goblin couldn't understand, obviously. The goblin didn't say anything and grabbed the bars with bare hands. He pulled the bars with all his might, causing it to bend easily and the goblin walked in.

Arden widened his eyes when he saw the goblin started to sniffing out the cell.

"Another one I see,"

"!"

The demon and Arden looked at a tall man wearing a dark purple robe, smiling menacingly. There's a container on his hand, that small obsidian that glistened under the lantern's light.

"Grroaaar!" The goblin is going to attack the mysterious man. But the mage easily cast a simple air spell toward the demon, causing the demon to flew backward then hit the wall.

"Hmp!" Arden glared at the mage.

The mage that captured Ezra's demons, and the one that kidnapped him.

"The magic suppressant worked really well, doesn't it? Capturing a demon is so easy," The mage chuckled. He mumbled a spell. The obsidian floated to the air and started to glow.

The goblin roared once more before slowly disintegrated into bits, sucked into the glowing obsidian. The goblin is fully sealed, then the obsidian floated back to the mage's hand. The mage pocketed the obsidian that's filled with other obsidian.

"My job is quite easy," The mage said.

Arden could only glared at the mage. The mage snickered and walked up the stairs, away from the cell.

Inside that cold and quiet cell, Callisto watched the entire thing in invisible mode. Doggy is beside him, looking up to Callisto. Callisto sighed.

"So troublesome. A magic suppressant?" Callisto ruffled his hair in frustration. "Whatever. Let's report this back to that clumsy master,"

"Grr," Doggy wagged his tail in agreement.
