After speaking with Professor McGonagall and getting his contacts fixed, they headed to the Halloween feast with a replacement wand from storage in hand. Wands they kept around just in case a student accidentally broke their wand, each of them built as neutrally as possible so anyone can use them until they get their replacements.
As they were walking in the halls, Trenton was swinging the new wand around getting a feel for it while mumbling,- "This doesn't feel good at all." Feeling the immediate difference in the magical flow through the wand compared to his old one which had resonated far better with him.
Hermione snorted- "That's what you get for losing it, by the way, I don't for one second believe that stuff you told the Professor, you're parents are some of the nicest folks around, what traumatic memory were you talking about that just so happened to pop up and make you lose control."
Trenton not knowing what to say decided to remain silent.
Hermione stopped him noticing his sad expression- "Trent?"
Trenton rubbed the back of his head awkwardly,- "Look Hermione, I don't know what happened."
Hermione looked around to see if anyone else was around before she dragged him somewhere more private.
"Hermione?..." he started to ask only to get cut off by her finger before she turned around, pulling out her wand and cast the Muffliato Charm, a charm used to fill the ears of any person in the vicinity of the caster with an unidentifiable buzzing sound so as to allow for conversation without being overheard.
Hermione gave the go-ahead,- "Okay now we can talk in private without anyone hearing, now I don't know what happened, but did you know that dark red magic you were using wasn't the only unusual thing you did, the reason your contacts were damaged was that your eyes started to glow red as well, are you sure your parents are really your parents?"
Trenton's eyes widened slightly at the news,- "Did they really?"
Hermione gave a firm nod,- "Yes."
Trenton started contemplating what it meant, sifting through his fragmented memories as best he could, thinking about Death and what he may have done- "Maybe I have some unique bloodline, but I can say for certain my parents are my parents, they gave birth to me and everything, they even have pictures from the hospital."
Hermione started doing her own thinking,- "Unique bloodline huh, I'll have to look that up, but in the meantime, you should try and figure out how to control it or something, you don't want to be exposed, remember how we were worried about you being called out as a vampire, well I don't think red glowing eyes is going to help your case, In fact, I'll also do more research on vampires to see if there is anything about this just in case."
Trenton turned gloomy,- "I really hope this doesn't become a thing we have to keep worrying about."
Hermione tried to comfort him,- "Don't worry Trent, we'll figure this out."
Trenton- "Alright enough of this gloomy talk, I want to go to the Halloween Feast, come on Hermione, let's not miss any of the sweet treats" he excitedly said trying to overcompensate for the earlier gloomy talk as he took her hand and rushed out past her charm.
Hermione could only wryly grin as she followed along with a small giggle,- "I'm sure they'll have plenty, Trent."
Upon arriving at the great hall, they were hit by the festive atmosphere as everyone talked merrily with one another while enjoying the many treats they don't usually get.
Trenton started to drag Hermione to the Hufflepuff table to eat with their friends when Professor Queirll burst through the door right past them screaming about a Troll, making Trenton curse his luck as everyone was sent into a panic, putting frowns on the teacher's faces as they wondered how a Troll made it past their many layers of defenses.
Dumbledore took charge with a wave of his wand, silencing everyone as he gave instructions to the teachers, deciding to have some escort the students back to their common rooms so the students could better relax in a more warded part of the castle while the rest followed him to deal with the threat.
Trenton and Hermione who were still standing just behind the collapsed Professor who pretended to faint were caught up in the mass exodus as the students tried to rush past them.
Trenton did his best to shove students out of the way, keeping them from trampling him and Hermione as he made his way to the table hoping to grab a treat before leaving.
Sneering when he saw Queirlls on the ground magically being avoided by the many stampeding feet. Clearly having put a charm in place so students would naturally avoid stepping on him without realizing it. A magic suggestion spell just small enough that no one would notice during the chaos, Trenton being the sole exception since he knew what laid behind that turban.
Making his way past, he purposefully stepped on the back of Queirlls head making sure to apply a bit of force as he headed for the nearest table treat, hearing an angry hiss as he passed.
Hermione a bit unnerved by the situation didn't understand why Trenton was dragging her in the opposite direction,- "Trent, what are you doing?"
Trenton- "Don't you want a treat before heading back? Let's grab some real quick and then we can go," but just as he arrived the food suddenly vanished as his hand grabbed nothing but air causing Trenton to curse his luck again.
Sighing he gave in and followed the crowd out, not forgetting to step on Queirlls head again, receiving another angry hiss. Chuckling to himself as he headed back knowing Querill and Voldemort could do nothing at the moment, and wouldn't even know who did it since they had to keep still with their eyes closed.
"That's what you get for getting in my way," Trenton whispered under his breath to himself with a wicked grin.
Hermione- "Trent? Did you say something?"
Trenton cleared his throat,- "Nope, I didn't say anything, come on, we'll be safe back in our common rooms."
The next day they heard the story of how the Teachers had to rescue a couple of boys being chased by the Troll in the halls as they missed the news of what was happening after just being discharged from the medical wing.
Turns out Ron and Harry had a bad time this go around, thanks to having nothing to fight for. They instead chose to flee as fast as they possibly could and thanked their lucky stars when the Professor's arrived.
