Sasha stood outside the door, leaning on the doorframe and looked at the drunken person in front of her. He was still calling out her name even while sleeping. She sighed softly and entered the room. She left the door open so that Aunt Bell would not have to make any sound before entering. It's good that he is sleeping, what would have happened if he was awake? He cried so badly earlier.
She walked towards the end of the bed and helped him to remove his shoes. She covered him with the blanket and increased the temperature of the room.
She sat beside him and silently looked at him.
"Hey Aaric… My mind is in a mess right now, and look at you. Sleeping like a pig. You don't tell me about us, about me or our past. I am not as frail as you think. I will endure it… if not for me… I will do it for you…I feel guilty everytime I see you caring for me, when you are worried for me… Today, I asked that maid and she told me about us… Did you really love me that much? How can a person love somebody to that extent?" Sasha still found it difficult to accept that a person like him who could have any women he wished in his arms, loved her. The way that maid told her about their moments and love for each other, she regretted. She felt guilty.
Maybe, if she would not have encountered that accident, then maybe today they would have been together and happy, unlike today. If only she could regain her memories at the same time she regained back her consciousness, her life. Then, they would have been in a different state today. What would happen if she never regains her memory? There were so many ifs coming into her mind that it started to hurt.
While she was still looking at him, he stirred a bit and turned his face towards her. Sasha's whole body became stiff. She tried to not make any sound and movements. When Aaric opened his heavy eyelids a bit, she became too nervous and afraid that she just wanted to run away. Unexpectedly, Aaric did not do anything to her. He just opened his eyes and looked at her. His eyes were so pure that even she could see her reflection, except that his eyes were slightly red due to crying earlier.
Sasha was too confused that she did not know what he was up to. She thought, is it a sleeping activity of his? How could a person open up his eyes suddenly while sleeping and do not sleep back? On top of that he never for once has blinked his eyes. She wanted to ask him if he needed anything, but before she could utter a single word she saw a slight curve at the corner of his lips.
'Did he hear everything I said just now ?'
Sasha's face started to turn crimson when she thought about her words then his reaction. She did not expect that he would suddenly wake up in the middle of his sleep. She thought he must be in a deep slumber to hear.
'Then he must have heard me calling him a pig… Oh God!'
Before Sasha's mind could think of clarifying herself, a large muscular arm has already embraced her tightly. She widened her eyes in shock. She tried to push him but no matter how much strength she applied, he did not even move an inch. She wanted to punch him but her heart just could not do that. In between everything, one line from Aaric took her completely unexpected.
"Wifey… I missed you… so much."
His one line was enough to stop Sasha from struggling. She let him hug her as much he wanted to. This was the second time she heard him saying this. The way he just raised his hands to show how much he loved her, was something that others might find a bit childish but for Sasha it was too touching. She felt an obstruction in her throat when she tried to respond to him.
At the end she just let him as he was.
Meanwhile, outside the room, Aunt Bell was crying so hard and trying her best not to make any sound. She covered her mouth with one hand while with the other she was holding the tray. She kept standing until the couple fell back to sleep. She turned off the lights in the room and closed the door before leaving.
Next morning, Aaric woke up when he felt an itchiness on his face. When he opened his eyes, he could not see properly. Though the curtains were still drawn but a slight sunlight was coming inside from the small window, which lighted the whole room. He tried to rub his face but instead found long strands of hair on his face. Confusedly, he turned his face to look beside. Somebody was sleeping beside him. She had a delicate face but her hair covered up her entire face like a thick blanket. He looked at his right hand which was still embracing this petite figure. He removed his hand which was lying on her waist and removed the hair strands carefully, afraid of waking her up. When he looked at her face, his mind still could not register this view… is it a dream or reality…
