Preparing breakfast

Aaric worked till the time, when Sasha woke up in the morning.

At nine in the morning, when sunlight peeped inside the room from the window, it made the dark room lightened. She stirred a bit in bed, before opening her eyes. The first thing which she noticed, after waking up in the morning, was to look towards the couch on the opposite to the side of the bed. No one was sleeping on the couch.

'He might be working in his study room.' She thought before rubbing her head in a sleepy manner. She still felt a little bit sleepy. She would have never thought that last night she was snuggled in a bundle of warmth.

Maybe out of habit, she ruffled her hair. She pulled off the blanket and took a look at the time by the bedside and realised that it was 9.30 a.m. on the dot.

She took a deep breath, rubbed the sleep out of her eyes. Then, she carefully got down from the bed.

After she washed up, she walked downstairs to make breakfast. Inside the kitchen she saw that Aunt Bell was looking inside the refrigerator, maybe deciding for today's breakfast. The moment Sasha entered the kitchen Aunt Bell greeted her and asked her what she would like to have for breakfast.

"Auntie, why don't you leave breakfast to me? You can cook for lunch. Will it be alright?"

"Yes sure madam. I will go and look at the other things. If you need any help, then please do call me madam."

"Sure!" Sasha smiled as Aunt Bell left the kitchen.

She took out some vegetables from the refrigerator and searched on the internet about some simple dishes for breakfast.

'Cinnamon baked doughnuts, herbalicious breakfast casserole, sausage, frittatas.. Augh! I searched for simple dishes.. recipes of these dishes are too hard and would take so much time. What should I prepare?' Even after wasting half an hour, she couldn't find any dish with a simple recipe.

At the end, she just thought of making pancakes. Without wasting another second, she searched for pancake recipes and got an easy way of making it.

Upstairs inside the study room, Aaric got a burning smell inside his nostrils. He checked around the room if any device was plugged in or not. He didn't have any clue about the source of this burning smell. He tried to follow the source of smell and came out of the room. He heard noises of utensils coming out from downstairs.

Aaric understood what must have happened.

Without hesitating he strode downstairs and found his dear wifey disposing a burnt dish off the pan.

He had just reached the door when he saw that in the spacious and stylish well-equipped kitchen, a short height girl was throwing some burnt dish from the pan in the dustbin with her back towards him. The whole kitchen smelled like a burnt dish.

He stood at the entrance of the kitchen for a while watching Sasha scratching her head like a kid who was solving a tricky maths question.

"Why is it so hard to make pancakes?" Sasha shouted in anger and frustration.

"Making pancakes is not hard at all." She heard a familiar voice from behind and turned her head to find Aaric was controlling the urge to laugh on her face.

"You can laugh out loud." Sasha snorted in response as she glared at him.

"You should have asked me to make it. Why did you start preparing by yourself?" Aaric gently took the pan from her hand and wore his apron, totally ignoring her earlier words. If he was supposed to reply back, he might get a good beating by his wifey. He looked inside the dustbin and found that she tried four times but still couldn't make it. He shook her head helplessly before taking out the other ingredients.

"You wait outside, I'll be done preparing in 15 minutes."

"No no no ! I'll be helping you. Yesterday you prepared for me, so I should be the one making today's breakfast." Sasha replied stubbornly.

"Then I don't think we could prepare our breakfast before evening." Aaric chuckled while stroking her head. Sasha was too stunned with his movements just now but she quickly regained her normal self and ran away from the kitchen like a rabbit.

After fifteen minutes, Aaric came out of the kitchen with two plates of pancakes in his hand and placed them on the dining table with two bowls of hot milk and some rusks.

"Come quickly, the food will turn cold."

"Mmm. Coming."
