Chapter 12

Alister was sitting on a chair in the town hall with Azur on his lap, he was reading a book to her. The book was a story filled with huntsmen, huntresses and monsters, Azur sat and listened intently, but it was easy to tell she was filled with a childlike excitement just hearing Alister tell her every word. Alister smiles gently on the outside but on the inside, he too was filled with the same excitement as Azur. All Alister wanted to do was scream out a "Fuck yeah!" whenever the good guys won. Of course, Alister knew in reality that wasn't what happens and lines between good and evil aren't always clear. But Alister enjoyed making people smile even if it was just one person, even if he saw even the tiniest smirk that was enough for him.

Kaze leans over Alister's shoulder "oh, this is a good one" she smiles at Azur, she looks at Alister "My sister read me this same story all the time" she said then she chuckled. Alister nods as he finished reading the book to Azur "Yeah, my old man read it to me as a kid" he said as he rubs Azur's head "Hey, aren't we building that watch tower today?" Alister asked as he turns his head towards Kaze. Kaze nods while stretching out "Yup, Cog and some townspeople have already started. I was about to head down there myself and help out" she said. Alister gently sets Azur on the floor "Go play with your friends" he gently pinches Azur's cheek then Azur runs off to a group of children.

Alister gets up then he and Kaze go outside and go to the entrance of the town where Cog and the townsfolk are halfway done with building the watchtower, the wooden structure easily towered over every building in the town. It took the rest of the day to finish building it but with plenty of hard work and sweat they managed to finish building it. And as luck would have it Alister was the first on guard duty for the night "Fuck this boring" he said as he looked over the forest that seemed to stretch forever in every direction that he looked. While Alister was surveying the area he sees a small plume of smoke coming from some trees some distance away. Then the distant sound of people moving about too many to be a group of campers. He sees a tent, so he uses some binoculars that Cog gave him earlier.

Alister looks over at all the people walking around and sees that they are all in White Fang uniforms. "Oh no" he whispered to himself then he looks at a White Fang member that is looking directly at Alister. At first, he was confused then he saw them point at him and say something. Alister heard some bushes rustle near him.

Earlier that afternoon Stag and the members of the White Fan were setting up camp, Stag was busy giving everyone orders as to where everything should go. Most of the faunas that he was given were fresh recruits, something that Stag was not happy about "Why couldn't Equine do this shit instead of me? All these dip shit rookies are getting on my nerves. At least Equine could use her semblance to get these ass fucks to work properly" Stag thought to himself and he folds his arms "this better end up being fun or so help me" he mumbled to himself "Join the boss's stable they said, you'll get what you're looking for they said" he grumbled as he taps his foot impatiently.

As Stag orders more of his subordinates around a White Fang commander walks up to him. She was tall, muscular and had the eyes of an eagle, her mask design was made to look like a Nevermore. A Nevermore being a giant bird Grimm that has terrifying speed and power. She saluted and took out a clipboard "Sir I have some news, it seems that they're building a watch tower and I have spotted at least one huntsmen and a huntress. I did some research to find out who we're up against. First we have Kaze she was trained by The Master and she graduated from Mistral Academy she is known as "The Wind Huntress" and there is Alister Carner aka "The Gasmask Hunter" he was a slave that was in one of the many Schnee Dust Company mines specifically the one near Mantle before it was shut down" she said as she read off the clipboard.

Stag looks surprised "So I'm guessin' this Alister guy graduated from Atlas academy?" Stag grins "I like crushin' those Atlas bitches" he said as he cracks his knuckles. "Right, once we're done setting up. We'll attack at night and be done by tomorrow mornin'"

Alister sees someone leap up from the bushes then onto a tree branch. The shadowy figure leaps at Alister at high speed as the figure comes into light it's the female commander that is coming at him. She reels back her arm then her arm glows a faint gold then she punches Alister, Alister blocks it but is sent flying back off the watchtower and several feet back then he crashes through a roof and onto the floor of a house. Alister lies on the floor with wide eyes "what the fuck was that?" he looks up at the hole in the ceiling only to find that she is coming down at him. This time both of her arms were glowing the same gold as before, Alister rolls out of the way as she smashes into the ground. Alister stares at her then he sees a platoon of White Fang members burst into the town then Kaze and Cog rushing out of the town hall.

The female commander chuckled as she walks toward Alister "Still as good at dodging me as I remember" her tone of voice was quite friendly. Alister growled at her as he gets into a fighting stance "I don't know a piece of shit White Fang member like you!" he said as he charges at her then he punches her in the face, sending the mask flying off her face then she slides across the ground. It was only then he knew who she was "Avery? What the fuck are you doing in the White Fang?!" Alister looks shocked. Avery she rubs her nose and checks for, then she sighs as she rubs her tanned face. "Still got a good swing on ya! Oh right" she said as she got up and put a finger over her lips "Shhh I'm undercover" then she punches Alister in the face, knocking him out. Avery whispers "Sorry" then she puts a blanket over Alister and runs out.

Kaze and Cog were busy fighting off the White Fang members, Kaze couldn't use her semblance to fight the White Fang because she didn't want to destroy any of the buildings so she resorted to using her physical prowess to take on the White Fang. Kaze was dodging bullets that were being fired at her while she charged at a large group of them while Cog used his semblance to direct the bullets away from himself and Kaze as he ran up beside her. Cog had a terrified expression on his face "I'm gonna die, where is Alister? Oh, gods I'm going to die!" he screamed out as tears roll down his face. Kaze groans "Cog, Alister is fine. He can handle himself. Just follow my lead and you'll survive. On the count of three I'll use my semblance to lift myself into the air, you use yours to do the same. I'll throw my blades into the air, you use your semblance to incapacitate them. Do not kill them, we need them alive!" Kaze said as she deflects a few bullets with her blade. While this was happening buildings were being destroyed by grenades and bullets which angered Kaze.

As they got closer Kaze grits her teeth "one, two, three" the two used both their semblances to jump high into the air then Kaze throws the box of katanas into the air. Cog uses his semblance to summon arrows down at the platoon of White Fang member's feet then the swords shoot down and stab their feet. However, most of them barely miss due to Cog's panicking but only one gets their foot stabbed. Kaze sighs as they land but the rookie members are too frightened to continue fighting after seeing what they just did. They all stare at them then they run off. Kaze turns to Cog with a smile "Hey, you scared them off" Cog still looking terrified looks at Kaze "Huh?" Cog was shaking as he looks around. Then as Kaze chuckled softly as Avery lands behind her "Ya took care of them pretty quickly" Avery said as she laughed, Kaze's eyes widen as she turns around and points her katana at Avery.

Cog was just as surprised that someone of Avery's size could get the jump on them. "Whoa!" Avery puts her hands up then she looks down at her uniform "Shit! Right" she said as she slowly reaches for her huntress licence while keeping an eye on Kaze then she shows the huntress license to Kaze "I'm undercover. I'll explain later, I'm Avery. Me and Alister know each other from Atlas" she smiles gently as Kaze puts her katana away.

Kaze looks annoyed "How about you explain, now?". Alister wakes up and rubs his head then he makes his way to Kaze, Cog and Avery. "Avery, just what the fuck are you doing here?" Alister asked as he rubs his face which had a big bruise on it. Avery looks surprised "Oh! You're awake already? Well I was hired to take on a job to go undercover in the White Fang and investigate a group called "The Stable" which is being led by the boss known as Shetland. He's a nasty piece of work.

The only members that I know of are Shetland, Stag and Equine but apparently there are more" she said as she smiles brightly. Kaze turns to Alister "You really know this girl?" Kaze asked, Alister nods "yeah, she and I were on the same team". Cog relaxes a bit then he walks over to Alister and tends to his injuries. Avery laughs as she nods "Man those were the days" then she takes off her top revealing her tank top under it then she rips the White Fang uniform top to shreds. "So how about we team up?"
