Ten And Eleven

Getting anyone else to cooperate from here was a total gamble. Five had always been more likely to question things than the others.

Alex firmly hoped he would be able to convince some of the Numbers who hadn't been into the field yet by talking up the outside. None of them had ever left headquarters before so he needed to think of the most enticing things about the world out there to pique their curiosity.

Thirteen and younger had never been through retraining so he sincerely hoped that made them an easier sell. He imagined Three would be the most difficult since he had been here the longest.

"Good luck," he told Five before using her cot as a springboard to make it back into the air duct.

All she did was nod before slowly opening the door to her quarters and checking to see if anyone was patrolling nearby. That was the last he saw of her before making his way toward Ten and Eleven's room.
