What A Horrific Failure

The man the other one called Hoffman lifted his chin as he was being handcuffed. "Well, I'll be. If it isn't Jared Walker. You remember this guy, Davies? We interviewed him a few years ago about illegal arms dealing and weren't able to nail him with anything."

Davies laughed. "Looks like we know where all the guns went now."

Jared felt sick to his stomach. He had been with the Agency for nearly forty years and he never would have dreamed of actually getting caught. It really was all over. What could he do now? It wasn't like they would accept a plea deal to sell out the others with the weight of his crimes.

His only defense was his right to stay silent. He had plenty of money; he would hire the best lawyer he could and say absolutely nothing no matter what evidence they presented in front of him. Even if he had to plead guilty, a good lawyer might be able to reduce the sentence or at least make sure he ended up inside one of the better prisons.
