Alex, He Isn't Worth It

Claire was surprised when Wyatt acted like nothing happened on Friday and sat down next to her cheerfully before class started like usual. She knew that she was the one primarily in the wrong here because of how rude Ethan had been but he had been he had been rude back. To an eleven-year-old.

But if he wanted to act like nothing happened, she supposed she could be magnanimous this once even if she wasn't comfortable with the way he had acted. Her friendliness was more cautious than usual but she didn't want to be any ruder than her son had already been.

He seemed to take her basic politeness further than he should though. After class he smiled and said, "We should go to dinner tonight. Without your kid this time."

Claire hadn't wanted to anyway so it was easy to shoot him down. "I still have another class tonight."

"It doesn't have to take long. We can be back before your class starts."
