Michael left and Sarah sighed heavily before heading up to her room. Somebody please kill Cody now. He was about to die from the awkwardness anyway so it would be the merciful thing to do.

"Long distance must be hard," Karli said sympathetically about a minute later.

"I suppose so. But they're more than mushy enough when they are together to make up for it," he said in a hard voice.

That made her laugh and she snuggled closer. "Well, you weren't a third wheel today. That's something, right? This time you got to be part of your own bicycle…if that makes any sense."

It was a bit of an odd analogy but it did make sense. He couldn't deny that it had been nice to not feel left out for once even if having someone at his house all day had been a strange new experience.

A small smile made its way onto his face. "Yeah. I think it does."
