"WHAT IS GOING ON HERE!?" a booming voice which not only freezes the children in place, but silenced them immediately. The children look to see who said it and it was a tall, burly man with a thick brown beard wearing a gray unbuttoned suit with a white dress shirt and red tie. His face is anything but pleasant.
"Oh no, it's the vice principal Mr. Larsen."
"I hear he expels people if anyone breaks the rules."
The children whisper to each other, gossiping the vice principal named Mr. Larsen where his strict demeanor made child students follow the rules as if breaking them means committing a capital offense. The tall man that is Mr. Larsen has focused his gaze on the unconscious Clyde face down and Indux unconscious while held by Daegus. Daegus noticed his gaze too and he felt that he'll get punished even though he didn't break a rule. He began to speak to the children around him.
"Upon the first day of school, a fight has already broken out!? This is a school, not a battleground!" he roared, causing the children to shrink away.
"You!" he said, pointing his thick fingers at Daegus.
"Y-yes!?" Daegus shakily answered, visibly scared.
"Did you do this?" the vice principal said, walking towards the three like a towering beast glaring at its prey with intimidation and Daegus is the prey.
"N-no, sir." Daegus replied.
"Vincent, you're scaring the children." Denver said.
"But a fight has occurred."
"It's fine, I'll handle it."
"Should I make them disperse?"
"Sure, recess is almost over anyway."
"Alright, return to your classes!" Vincent announced and the children hurriedly went inside the building as to not incur Vincent's wrath any further. Clyde finally regains consciousness, groaning from the soreness in his body. His lackeys came to him with concern.
"Hey, you okay?"
"What happened? Am I dead?" Clyde said groggily, staggering to stand.
"No, but we should get out of here."
"Hold it! You three, in the principal's office, NOW!" Vincent demanded while giving a sharp glare. The three had no choice but to comply. Indux also slowly regains consciousness.
"Huh? Daegus? What happened?" Indux said, blinking.
"You won, Indux. Also you fainted again from that move earlier. Can you stand?" Daegus said.
"Yeah, thanks." Indux said, standing up while being helped by Daegus.
"If we move quickly, they won't notice us." Daegus said, hoping if they were lucky, they would sneak by and blend with the crowd and continue on with their day.
"Who won't notice who, I wonder?" Denver said.
"Oh no..." said Daegus.
"Mind coming with us? We need to talk." Denver said giving them a smile, but intention behind it is the exact opposite. Daegus began thinking on what should he do, should he run or stay by his side? Indux spoke to Daegus.
"Forget it, Daegus...I'm too tired." Indux said, still exhausted.
"Okay..." Daegus said in a defeated tone.
{Few moments later, in the principal's office.}
Indux, Daegus, Clyde, and the two other boys head into the principal's office where there are plenty of picture frames where is displays certificates for best principal and best vice principal for every consecutive years. The office has a deep brown wooden table with various accessories and a mug.
"Have a seat." Denver said. The boys sat on the empty seats, anxious for what the principal is about to say.
"Now, I know you people are energetic and that's great! But fighting in the first day of school or at all is a big no-no." Denver said. "Last time a fight happened, it spread throughout the whole school and had to give quite a few children medical attention." Denver added with a serious tone. Then he thought to himself.
"I had to calm down some of their distraught parents that they're not in danger and pulled an all-nighter writing reports...it was rough." Denver thought to himself, contemplating.
"Okay, who did it first?" Denver said.
"It was Indux and his friend over there who came to our table and insulted us. We're just eating in peace." Clyde said with puppy dog eyes.
"What!? You came at us first! And you pushed me down!" Daegus yelled in protest.
"Daegus is right, I saw him get pushed aside when they came to us." Indux said, agreeing the statement.
"He damaged my clothes! Look!" Clyde said, displaying his torn attire.
"You attacked us first, you liar!" Daegus retorted. The five boys kept arguing in the principal's office, filling the room with angry yelling and insults right in front of Denver. He was hoping they'll end it smoothly, but it didn't. Therefore, he must interrupt.
"Okay, okay, stop fighting!" Denver yelled, the five went silent. Denver sighed at first then spoke. "Clyde, ever since you got here, you were bullying other people because of you being in the Novice class." Denver added. This shocked Clyde and the other two, wondering how did he know. He thought he had every teacher to his thumb, but little did he know that Denver already knew all along.
"Yeah, I'm not oblivious to your actions, kid. Neither are the teachers too." Denver said, smirking smugly. Clyde became deflated and hung his head in defeat.
"Heh...serves you right." Daegus said in his mind, chuckling from the minor victory. Indux smiled too.
"Now you, Indux. You are also at fault. Your power could've done more than just tear his clothing." Denver said to Indux. Indux can't help to wonder how did he know about the fight.
"How did you know?" Indux said.
"I heard children yelling 'fight' so it's obvious that I know. Also, the vibrations you two caused was no doubt explosion type spells. What if someone else got caught in the crossfire?" Denver said. The five boys have no way to retort and began feeling regretful, they could've hurt somebody if any of their attacks missed and hit someone else. Denver sighed and began talking.
"Look, I'll let you guys off with a warning if you apologize to each other, okay? Please let this be the last time I tell you this." Denver said and the boys agreed.
"I'm sorry." the boys said to each other and shook their hands.
"Good, now get back to class."
The five boys walked out of the office and closed the door behind them. They took a moment and went on their separate ways, hoping it doesn't get awkward.
"That went surprisingly smooth. I thought we're goners." Daegus said, sighing from the tense atmosphere.
"Yeah...let's avoid getting suspended on the first day."
"You and me both."
Both Indux and Daegus went to class as normal and went through the day without any more incidents. Time goes by quick and the bell rang, indicating the end of school. Everyone left the classrooms and began exiting the main entrance of the school. The students say their goodbyes to each other, to the teachers and began walking home, some by foot, some by carriage.
"See you tomorrow?" Deagus said.
"Yeah. Tomorrow." Indux replied, nodding. Daegus waved goodbye to Indux and began walking home on foot. Indux started walking, but sees the same carriage that Indux and his father entered. His face brightened up and ran towards the carriage and opened it to see his father.
"Father!" Indux happily exclaimed.
"Indux, how was school?" Algra said, giving Indux his hand. Indux grabbed it and Algra pulled him in the carriage.
"I got into a fight." Indux said bluntly. Algra raised his eyebrows to that sudden statement.
"Did you try to avoid it?" Algra said.
"Yes, but it failed. I had no choice. But I won at least."
"Who did you fight against?"
"Clyde Orato? He uses Water Magic."
"So he's the son of Jonathan Orato...he may be prideful, but not arrogant." Algra said in his mind.
"Did you win?"
"Yes, then I got scolded because someone else could've got hurt."
"I see."
"Anyways, I got a new friend. His name is Daegus Knox and he uses Fire Magic." Indux said excitedly.
"Oh, that's good. If your friend's parents think it's okay to have him visit, would you like it?"
"Sure!"
Indux and Algra continued talking throughout the ride. As soon they reached their mansion, they exited, but he bumped into a mysterious figure wearing a black cloak. Indux bounced back as where the figure didn't budge.
"I'm sorry, I wasn't looking." Indux said, apologizing. The figure turned around to look at Indux which wasn't neither one of his mansion's servants.
