Chapter 71 - Top

Ave's Point of View

The night was silent and no monsters has been detected yet by my ice minions or even my shadow clones.

I have nothing to do so I should just practice my magic then. After three hours of practicing my magic, I was about to change shift with Nixie when I felt small tremors coming towards us.

I can't see which caused the tremors so I made ice wings to let me fly into the sky. I was in the sky and I saw a 30 homogoblins marching towards my place. They were all holding torches that help them navigate the forest.

I also saw a huge boar that was about 5 meters high. A homogoblin was sitting there but it looked more like a human. It was holding a halberd on it's right while shouting at the homogoblins.

Many monsters can be seen running away from the marching homogoblins. I tried appraising the homogoblin that looked like the leader of the group, and I felt despair after appraising that homogoblin.

It was level 486. I can't possibly win against this monster. I need to wake Nixie up and retreat. I went back to the ground, and ran to Nixie.

"Nixie! Wake up!" I shouted at Nixie.

"Yes?" Nixie replied while caressing her ear. She has a confused look while staring at me.

"We need to go. Monsters are coming this way!" I said with a hurried voice.

When she heard the word monsters, she quickly stood up. We ran outside while explaining the situation.

"We should hide somewhere else Ave." She suggested.

"Go and command the ice minion to distract the marching homogoblins while we make our retreat." I said while calling for my shadow clones, and Ice.

Nixie nodded and followed my order. At the moment, we only have a few ice minions but I think it will be fine since it was only needed to distract the homogoblins.

"Nixie can you turn into a small size again?" I asked while trying to think which direction we should go.

"Yes."

"Turn back and please sit on my shoulder." I said then Nixie nodded and turned herself into her previous size. She then sat at my shoulder while I unsummoned Ice.

I was thinking about going inside Ice's body but turned that idea down since if Ice was noticed by the homogoblins then it might die, and when that happens; I'll die too.

"Ave, why do we need to go through the top of the mountain instead of just going around the mountain?" Nixie asked.

I have already asked the same question with Jan. It was not we can't go around the mountain but there are rumors that it was dangerous to go that way. Jan said that if going to the top of the mountain is dangerous already then going to the side will surely be like signing a death contract.

Jan also didn't know what was on both side of the mountain but he said that even his father warned him of not going to the sides of the Wu Mountain.

"We can't go there Nixie." I answered.

While I was talking with Nixie, the homogoblins are fighting with the ice minions but I know that the ice minions won't last long.

I thought hard while using my Parallel Thinking and Thought Acceleration skills. Several ideas pop out of my brain but each idea has a huge percentage of me dying.

A few seconds passed, I thought a brilliant idea. This plan has the highest chance of us surviving.

I ran towards the cliff and jumped on it.

"What are you doing Ave!?" Nixie shouted while I can hear the roars of the homogoblins.

I then flapped my wings while hiding under the cliff. I planned of just hiding under the homogoblin's nose than going down the cliff. I don't know what kind of monsters down the cliff might have, and it may have a monster that has a higher level.

"I-"

Nixie was about to speak but I signalled her to keep quite. I can't let the homogoblins that we are just below the cliff.

"King.... the human.... gone..." I heard one of the homogoblins spoke.

"Useless!" I heard a deep voice while I saw a homogoblin's head falling down from the cliff.

"Find that human. That human will be a great husband for my daughter." The same voice said. This might be the homogoblin that was sitting on the huge boar.

I sweated when I heard that they plan to make me marry a homogoblin. I need to get out of here before I'm kidnapped and forced to marry some homogoblin.

"Yes... King..." I heard another homogoblin reply.

A few moments passed until I heard footsteps moving. I think they are now going somewhere else to find me. I only moved when I didn't hear any homogoblins anymore.

I flew and landed on the cliff. I then removed my ice wings.

"We should move quickly Ave before they found that we're not down the cliff." Nixie suggested.

"Right." I replied while walking towards the top of the mountain with a fast pace.

Thankfully, I have 6 shadow clones that can help me navigate the mountain. It was hard since there are many monsters roaming around this time.

I saw huge wolves, a giant tree walking around, giant eagles, and even a big bear that has antlers.

I tried avoiding each monster while going to the top of the mountain with the fastest speed I can.

By making my actions be unnoticeable to the monsters, my High Stealth leveled up by a few levels. I also used my Improved Dark Vision to it's fullest capacity, leveling it up also.

My Presence Detection is always being used to be sure I can detect each monster that might be close to me. This skill also leveled up by a few times.

The whole night, I just ran to the top until I saw the sun going up. I was scared to face the homogoblins that I didn't notice how much time I used to go up.

I looked up and I'm only a few more walks before arriving at the top. I leveled up by a few levels with the few battles with the monsters here in the mountain.

If I didn't have HP Recovery, I might have many wounds by now or worst even die from the damages I received from the monsters.

My Presence Detection also evolved by using it by plenty of times. It evolved into this thing called Presence Sensory. It was amazing since I can detect a monster with 150 meters around from me.

"Shouldn't you rest first Ave?" Nixie asked worriedly.

"I can't do that. The homogoblins might be going here now." I answered.

"I know how anxious you are but we still don't know what might be at the top of the mountain. You should rest first. You may have avoided the homogoblins but you might die when we encounter a monster we can't run from." Nixie said.

"You're right..." I said while yawning. I really wanted to sleep now. I may not be hungry because of the title, Sin of Gluttony, but it doesn't mean that being awake for the whole day is the same.

I felt tired that I wanted to sleep at the ground regardless of the place but I obviously can't do that. My body was worn out from the fights and running.

"Let's find a hiding place for now before continuing." Nixie said while looking for a place.

I nodded, and then tried to find a hiding place. A few minutes passed until we saw a tree that has a big branch that I can rest on. The tree also has many leaves so it can help with concealing me.

Before I going the branch, I used my Presence Sensory to detect if there are any monsters that reside in the tree.

A few seconds passed and I can detect a huge spider that has a size of an average human head.

I looked up and I can see some thin webs. It was hard to notice. I looked at the spider and appraised it.

It was a green spider so it blends well with the leaves. The scary thing about the spider is it's level. It was level 306 but I think I can still manage. I also saw a unique skill called Thread Creation.

'Hey Akira, do you think Thread Creation skill is useful?' I asked Akira since I want to confirm it before using my title, Sin of Envy.

'It is only a skill that a few monsters can use. You should take it and it might be useful in the future.' Akira said.

'Alright.' I said while smiling at the spider as if it was a meal.

'I thought you won't be asking for my opinion before using the Sin of Envy.' Akira said while laughing.

'I'm not that dumb. I also learn from my mistakes from the past.' I replied.

'Good.' Akira praised while I ended the conversation there.

I looked at the spider while using my Sin of Envy. One of my eye turned red while it shot a beam and went inside the body of the spider. The red beam then came out of the spider's body, and went back to me.

Ding!

You learned Thread Creation (Level 5)!

The spider noticed this and looked at me with hostility. It's time to start a beating! I grinned while I was surrounded by my shadow clones.
