Aaron's POV

Jealousy. It was not something that went along with the Enrouf name. The men of the family never had to be on the other side of desire. They simply took what was theirs, uncaring for the blood that would get shed in its wake. 

That was what the old man had told him when sending him off to Eleysa. But what if the one standing between him and his desire was his own blood? Aaron wondered, his thick brows scrunching together irritably. The young lord of the manor was visibly distressed, his anxious pacing not so silent in the usually quiet study. 

He paused by the window, his gaze drawn outside toward the acres of land that were covered in all sorts of green. The stilt of the pergola that his brother so often frequented with his company stood out from the treeline like the tip of a sword, cutting through the silhouette of the blazing afternoon sun.
