'Oh my Gawd, is he sitting next to you??'

For a few bucks, the bus was a pretty good ride so far. It didn't lurch hard enough for me to think I'd peed in my pants and well, sitting next to Knight again was fun. Even if he was typing sweet nothings into his laptop.

Seriously, it had been an hour and I really wanted him to talk to me now. Ask me something. If I wasn't such a buggerhead at starting conversations, I would've done so long ago.

"So," I wiggled my Converse-clad shoes. "The weather's nice."

He only stopped typing momentarily, "It is," and then went back at it.

Letting out a frustrated breath, I finally deemed it safe to take out my not-so-expensive phone that had been pinging for the past thirty minutes.

5 missed calls from Dad.

Another 10 from Mom.

And a crazy string of messages from Esra, my bestie.

First, I opened the messages, letting out a cackle—a whispered one of course.

Esra: Do you think we're ugly that's why no billionaire sweeps us off our ugly feet?

Esra: Wait, I forgot you must be on the train. TELL ME YOU FOUND A BILLIONAIRE. TELL ME.

Peeking a glance at Knight, everything screamed fancy to me. From his pristine navy-blue suit to the watch resting on his wrist to the gel in his gorgeous raven hair, everything proved that time had been good to him. It might've made another person jealous but I was genuinely happy for him.

Me: I think I might've found one

Her reply was immediate. WHAT? I want details! Now!

I was about to begin writing, when my phone rang. I wanted to bang my head against the window. Too bad Knight had claimed the seat next to the window. Again.

Esra: Why did you ignore my call?

Oh my Gawd, is he sitting next to you??

Pick up your damn phoneeeeeee

I sighed.

"Something wrong?" Knight asked me, eyes still on the screen.

I shook my head with a smile and kept staring at him long after he'd abandoned our two-word convo.

Me: Fine, I can call you but YOU MUST NOT SPEAK IN ENGLISH

Esra: You've got some explaining to do but okay. Deal.

Wait

What do I speak in then?

Me: German

Esra: I don't even know much aside from what you taught me!!!

I had to learn a foreign language at university and to be honest, I loved learning new languages almost as much as I loved studying culinary arts. Almost.

Me: Do you want the details or not?

In a second, my phone rang and this time, I didn't ignore it.
