"Thank you." I sounded so pitiful.
"Can i ask what your name is?" She looks at me curiously.
"My name is Michaël, what's yours?"
"Mine's Astrid."
I woke up to the sound of my phone ringing. The screen said Otosan. I answered it, and Astrid's father started talking to me.
"Whatever you've done, it got their attention. They want a war. Be careful."
"There will be no war. I will massacre them. They will never see anything coming."
"Be safe, my son."
The phone clicked, indicating the end of the call. Getting up, I walked over to my bag. Grabbing a pair of black pants, black long sleeve shirt, my bulletproof vest, and my black sweatshirt along with a few other essential items. Going into the bathroom, I took a shower. Coming out, my hair still wet I walked over to my bag. I grabbed my belt with the mag holders on it, and put it on. I grabbed my thigh holsters, and strapped them on. I grabbed my Sigs, pulling the slide back to see if there was a round in the chamber. Sliding one into each holster, I grabbed the last guns i carry. Two Colt commanders that I kept in holsters on the inside of my trench coat. Grabbing my knives, I walked out the door to my vehicle. That's when I heard the sound of a twelve gauge being racked. I dove behind my car, pulling open the car door, grabbing me own shotgun. Standing up, I saw Astrid's brother. I racked a round and pointed my gun at him. We stood there pointing guns at each other. Then he finally said something.
"I hear you are on a mission. A warpath to kill the people who killed my sister. I want in."
"I work alone. It's easier that way. I don't have to worry about other people."
With that i put the gun in my car and got in. Leaving him behind, I called his dad.
"Bosu, your son just showed up at my place and pointed a 12 gauge at me. I need a new place to crash. Will you get me something nobody would notice, and have somebody move my stuff there?"
"I will. Don't worry, I'll talk to him."
I headed to the next place I had to go. I walked in the front door of the bar, and walked right to the back, to the secret room. I walked in, and had an entire room full of people point their guns at me. I kept walking, until I got to the desk of the leader of the Mafia. I sat down across from him, and he looked at me.
"You've got some balls, walking in here like that. If I hadn't told my people to stand down, you would've been filled with holes."
"I'm coming for you. Everybody that had a hand in her death will die first. As you have seen. The van should've been a message. But you didn't get it. You continue to kill people." Reaching into my pocket, I pulled out a coin. My marker. A skull with a bullet hole in the forehead. A warning. Standing up I walked out the door, all the way to my car. But it was too late. I had already seen another one of the thugs from that night. I drove around the building, to the ally and put cameras up. Satisfied, I drove back to the den. I wasn't stopped at the door this time. I guess everybody knew the angel was back. I walked into Senshi's office. His son was there, and was glaring at me.
"Can I borrow a different car? I've found one of the people that killed her. But they've seen my car."
"You've found another?"
"Hai bosu."
Reaching in his desk, he grabbed the keys to a dodge challenger. He threw the to me, and I was out of his office. I drove back to the bar and waited. The guy I was waiting for came out, and walked right over to my car. Climbing in, he pulled a gun and pointed it at me.
"I know who you are. I know why you are here. It's best you just turn around and walk away. Or you will end put like she did." With that he climbed out of my car. I was enraged. He dares threaten me? I opened my door and got out. I put one in the back of his head. I left him where he fell. Why should I pick up that trash? I slowed down as I drove by, and tossed a coin onto his body. I drove away, and went to eat. A cop was behind me in the drive thru, and I paid for his order. I pulled out onto the road, and the cop followed me. I drove for about a mile before he turned on his lights. I pulled over, my hand on the gun on the passenger's seat. He waved, and flew past me. Relieved, I pulled off the shoulder back onto the road and kept on driving. I drove to the new safe house I was given. I gathered my bag of dirty laundry and went to the laundromat. I met a little old lady that cussed worse than a sailor. After a day of doing laundry, I was tired. I walked in the front door of my new place, and took a knife to the gut. Stunned, I punched my attacker and pushed him away from me. I grabbed my gun and shot the person, right through the heart. After emptying my clip into the man, I went back outside, slamming the door. I got back in the Humvee and drove to the boss's lair. After stumbling into the lobby, a guard called for a doctor. Then next thing I saw when I woke up was a doctor looking down at me.
"You sir, are lucky to be alive. That knife missed all vital organs."
"How long do I have to be here?"
"Until I say you can go."
The doctor walked out the door, and Astrid's father walked in.
"What happened?"
"I walked into the new place you got my, and somebody was waiting for me. They are dead. Will you bring the body back here?"
"I already did. Its downstairs in the morgue when you are better."
With that, he turned and walked out the door.
After I was better, I went down to the morgue. Looking at the guy I shot, I realized why he looked so familiar. I had already known him from somewhere. Then it clicked. I had trained with him. There was a school hidden within a group of old sea caves on an old, nameless island. We were trained to kill. I was number 4. The guy that tried to kill me was top spot. I knew I was lucky to be alive. If this guy was sent after me, it meant I was scaring someone. Leaving the morgue, I went to the boss's office.
"Sir, we have a problem. The man that attacked me, we trained together. On the island."
The look on his face said everything. He was scared. After leaving his office I drove to the public library where I starting searching for people that were on the island with me. The first guy I found was weak one, that pretended that he tough. He barely passed. With a little more digging, I found the person I was looking for. On the island, there was a female I grew close to. Her name was Viki Huga. She was always one ahead of me in the rankings. I reached out and messaged all of her aliases. After I was done, I went and grabbed a quick bite to eat, and went to the gym. Working out for about 2 hours, I had time to think. I went home and got in the shower, and went to bed. I tossed and turned for about an hour before i decided to get up and clean my guns. While one of my guns was completely stripped on the table, the knob to the front door of my place started to turn. I clicked off the light I was using, and climbed up onto the window sill that was above the door. Drawing my knives as the door open, I smelled a scent I could never forget. Viki was here. Watching her close my door and walk to the kitchen, I slowly got down of the window sill. She walked over to the fridge and grabbed a beer. Sitting down she opened the beer and set the lid on the table.
"I'm not here to hurt you. The window sill was a good hiding spot," she told me like she was proud of me. "But we need to talk." With that, the cap from her drink hit me in the face. Rising from where I was, I went to the coffee table, and started putting my gun back together.
"If I hadn't known better, I would've fallen for your hiding spot." We talked about what we did after we left the island. She talked about the people she had dealt with. I told her what I had become after the island. We sat and talked for a while. She got up to leave and put her hand on the knob.
"Would you like to stay the night?"
"Would that be appropriate?"
She turned around, and I showed her to the only bedroom in the place. Grabbing a blanket and a pillow, I walked out of the room.
"Where are you going?"
"I'll sleep on the sofa. Figured you would want the bed to yourself"
"I only want the bed if you're in it." The look on my face must have been funny, because she busted out laughing. Grabbing my hand, she pulled me back into my room. Walking to my closet, she grabbed a pair of shorts, and one of my t shirts. She changed right in front of me.
She grabbed my hand and climbed in the bed. I got in, and she curled up to me. We slept until nearly noon the next day. Getting up, I grabbed her laundry and threw it into the washing machine. Coming back out, she asked if I had any eat, so I made lunch.
"Can I ask why you came back to the city? I thought you hated it here."
"I do, but i heard what happened to your friend. Knew you would go on the warpath. So, I came to help."
"Do you have all of the equipment you need?"
"I have some stuff, but I'll need more."
We finished eating, and I got her the cloths that I had washed and dried for her. We changed. My attire was my usual black outfit. Hers matched mine, with a few changes. We drove to the boss' layer and went right to the armory. Grabbing as many guns and ammo as we could carry, and we went to hunt. We drove to the library, and started searching for the last guy that was there the night that Astrid died. When we left, my phone rang.
